In Smash 4, Link would always lose his double jump when he uses his up B. I don't know if it's still in Ultimate, since people considered it a "glitch"
Andrew Prahst you can’t do any actions once you up b until you touch the floor. Jeremiah is saying to save their jumps cause that way you can actually defend from edgeguards
Mr. Andy I'm talking about the case where someone gets hit out f their up B. Some characters, like fox, can keep their double jump after getting hit out of their recovery, but some characters like Link lose it after using up B even if they didn't use their jump before hand. Because link doesn't gain much from saving his double jump, many people will just use it to get out of tumblr, since it's his fastest arial option. I'm not saying that's without its problems though. I personally faced a pretty skilled Link in Tournament who often used their double jump to act out of tumble, and I was able to get some easy edgeguard son him and take the set. I have to wonder if it's just meadow memory because I'm Smash 4, you can't tether out of tumblr. I too have had some issues with memory transitioning into the new game.
Andrew Prahst yeah being a link main in smash 4 definitely trained me not to upB to ledge. The same glitch doesn’t exist in SmashU but the muscle memory remains
@@hyliansword7127 I main link, boomerang and no charge arrows on stage, charged arrows and bombs of stage, keep them away they want to be in your face 24/7!
@@saulvan4550 Yea I assume the Marth and Lucina will both be more aggressive and rush down which is why I am stumped on how to win this matchup other than projectiles. I'll probably leave bombs on stage to reduce their safe zones that they can retreat to. Also, mixing in grabs out of shield once they side special or smash attack might be good because I can probably get some combos into them. Once their offstage, I'll probably just bomb them off. But again thanks for your advice!
@@hyliansword7127 up B out of shield is a great surprise kill at high percent. Slow the game as much as you can and frustrate the Marcina. Force them to jump on approach and out-position them.
Rightttt haha. I'm a link main and I saw some poor choices but I'm not saying I'm better than him or anything like that. I think that there was a lot of opportunities for link to throw out super safe up tilts. Up tilt is one of link's best moves imo. Grounded Up B also comes out very fast and he could've caught Lucina off guard a couple different times but you can also see he was playing safe and defensively but there were missed punish opportunities. I don’t think you can call Lucina bad here. Link outneutrals the entire FE cast, and on a stage as wide as PS he has more than enough room to work with. Link SD’d and accidentally regrabbed game 2, giving two kills for free. His early projectile game was predictable, he killed himself multiple times with his own bomb jumps, and his weird air dodges on and off stage either got him killed or cost him stage control. He went beast mode game 4 and ran it back game 5, but it wasn’t enough. If anything, Link lost because he threw the set away early on, not because of the match up. If he had gotten the reads he did in game 4 and 5 I think it’s very likely he would have won this.
Adult link definitely struggles. If he did more upB combos like @6:10 he would do better due to her jump patterns. Young and toon are a different story vs Lucina however due to their attack speed and their interrupting bombs This guy is disgusting with Lucina tho so I don't see a matchup that they would have more trouble with compared to others
Broo, that Link camping and playing defensive waaay to much. It's cheesing me...Just because he's a projectile character doesnt mean you have to camp and run away. Use it to your advantage and go offense

Im playing Link against Lucina in a tournament coming up in about a week. If I beat Lucina, I have to fight Marth. Any tips?
Marth will have a tip for you but not Lucina, but my tip is they will give you a hard time as it's a bad MU

I'd like to play against one of them or both. I think my Link is better than Rin's o__o It was like he used up air only 2-3 times in all 5 matches..
