I think a reason he kept going for it was he was holding the bomb and really wanted to do the choke bomb lock down smash trick which he did pull off but he wasn’t able to land the choke enough
@@walcneon Wait, you mean that you can "escape" the SideB into Down-tilt combo? Well that will help a lot now when I am fighting my Ganon-maining friend
Coolman McDude it’s when u press L or R button right before you hit a wall/floor/ceiling. it prevents u from bouncing off & it’s good for getting out of combos
in this game you can’t tech if you slam into the wall too hard though (in past games you could tech for forever) and it’s indicated by the big shockwave it makes when characters hit the stage. if the shockwave is blue that means they were able to tech it but just didn’t press the button in time, if it was red (which generally only happens at like 180%) then it means they just flew into the wall so fast it’s impossible to tech
Inb4 I see some comments like "this LInk/Ganon is so bad, I could do better" or "any GOOD Link/Ganon player would do x y and z" EDIT: Nvm I found the couch experts already
Ok so the holding of the bomb is good and bad for ganondorf in this matchup: Its obviously bad because ganon cant throw out any aerials or grounded attacks as long as he has the bomb, meaning he can only command grab BUT in the case that ganon hits the command grab and the opponent doesnt tech then ganon can throw the bomb downward on link causing a psuedo jab lock which normally ganon cant hit off his jab because it has high knock-back on it which then can net him a free downsmash which can kill as early as 90 if you're close to ledge. Keep in mind these benefits are HIGHLY specific and require not only the command grab to hit AND your opponent to miss the tech BUT the payoff is flashy as hell and hype as hell. Also theres the obviously implied benefit of link not having his bomb so long as you hold it and the fact that you can throw it instantly out of shield for an almost guaranteed grab afterwards.
@@yourerightdawg Link doesn’t really need his projectiles. Now don’t get me wrong they definitely help, but Link also has really good damage and combos for close range

Bruh Im no pro but I always hate seeing matches like this because I see a dude using big brain moves with his bombs boomerangs etc and dominate for a straight minute just to make a 50% or so and then ganon just gently slaps you by chance and he makes 22% in a second wtf
That's Ganon for ya. Slow, struggles against zoners, but he makes 1-3 hard callouts, and your stock is gone. And don't fret too much about Ganon anyways. The only top player I see nowadays who uses him is Nairo, and he mostly does that for friendlies.
All these links I see on these tourneys, and not a single one of them I've seen do a F-throw bomb kill. I feel like I'm the only person that does that in this game lol.
the Link player is good and uses bombs and quick falls really well. Ganon dude....is literally using the same strategies you see beginner ganon players use, except this guy is better with positioning and blocking.
0:34 "But... why are you buying tickets to watch something on a screen?" He says as a whole audience is watching these video games be played on a flatscreen.
So someone who understands the mentality or intent, what is the purpose of Ganon holding onto bomb for so long and Link not detonating at any of the long times it was held?
Maybe I should play Ganon. His move set in Ultimate seems like it copies other characters movesets like Captain Falcon, Ike, and Cloud. I main those 3 characters so Ganon could be a no-brainer
he’s a really different feeling character to use though because he moves so slowly especially in the air but things like his Nair and his Fair are fairly fast and hit like a bus
I'm no pro but I don't understand the obsession pros have with links nair. Dair and upB just seem to be non existent. I understand they can be punished but there are so many opportunities in this match and every other for (almost) true combos with those moves
The nair is much safer to throw out, almost no lag and stays out just as long. The other moves might be an opportunity for ganon to take a stock. Especially if he reads it. I would be scared to use them in this matchup honestly.
Why are there so many ganon players at tournies and online? Hes not a great character if you know the MU. Hes a noob stomper so the online users make sense, but at tournies? I dont get it

To be honest the link was very basic. He honestly won because the matchup is a lot more difficult for ganon, and that's coming from a link main. Honestly he was jumping way too much instead of staying grounded, which got him punished a lot by getting side b'ed. He didn't adapt whatsoever and just played to link strenghts in the most basic way.
