When I hear this song the feeling comes up through my torso and spreads out over my back and arms in goosebumps. I’ve loved this song cover she does and have always wished she would release it.
July 7 was 12 years clean for me...12 off the needle (heroin/cocaine) I saw so many fall the 17 years I was using. This is an awesome version of that song. Made me cry, and remember my friends that didn't make it.

"Underrated" by who? She's known world wide and has sold millions upon millions of albums. It always makes me laugh when somebody feels the need to say a person is underrated when the exact opposite applies.
To me, underrated "female" voice and talent brings to mind one lady Johnette Napolitano.

An absolutely compelling song, my friend played this song for me, it struck so deep in my heart, the pain and misery can't seem to feel anything else.
No one has EVER asked Howard a question about himself, but Jewel does and Howard is kind of taken aback. It's fascinating to see and it makes me happy and sad at the same time. I wish more people would ask Howard questions about himself, genuinely, because NO ONE does -- ever. Except for Jewel. :,)

Yep. It says alot about her character. She's was genuinely curious, and cared what he had to say. She was trying to have a conversation instead of just being interviewed. Seems like such a small thing, but it says so much.
I think they don't ask him because Howard Stern. Can be a real asshole sometimes.

I didn’t realize this is 10 years old
I was dating a girl that was really into her and me being a douche didn't appreciate her talent. I took my girlfriend at said time to see her live. I was jaws dropped. She is amazing and actually told the crowd they didn't have to sit. It was funny because everyone stood up after she said that and never sat down again. Prior to that everyone was sitting down like we were in the movies. She put on a hell of a show and I am a dude that's not supposed to cry, but I'll be damn if I didn't cry 🤣 She is amazing!!!!

Picked up sewing again, old needle and thread. With an old piece of cloth I received from a friend, stitched to a pillow case were I lay my head. Opened my eyes as the sun set sails again. Adventure in love, family and friends!

Jewel singing a Neil Young song about heroin?!? Everything you didn’t know you always needed.
This song was written about Danny Whitten, guitar player in Crazy Horse. Neil knew he had a problem, but could not help him. He overdosed, and when he did, a piece of Neil died also. So very sad.
It is actually about needles and the damage they do.

I dunno. There’s a sense of bare boned melancholy in the simplicity of Neil’s vocal delivery. That simplicity and understated urgency is what makes the song so magical. To over-sing it, which I think she certainly does here, strips it of its magic and beauty, and gives it the feel of an off night for an American idol contestant.

I have been totally in awe since the first time I heard her on the radio back in 96’. She is the best singer, the best songwriter, the best talent period in the last two decades. She is up there with Lennon, Prince, Cash and the other greats and also damn hot.
