Where the top bumper meets the fender flair looks cool. I like the bulkiness to it, makes it look muscular imo. The splitter does look too big. Something a lot thinner or just a flat piece of steel itself would look better. Build your dream man. The body kit is looking sick!
Not a flat piece of steel, but perhaps plywood or carbon fiber.
@@jstein77A thicker piece of carbon would look awesome.
Matt Todd.. ibagree with you 110%. Keep the bumper where it is. I agree the splitter is too bulky. A thicker blade but keep it flat as it hangs lower than the side skirt.
@@jstein77 I second carbon splitter
I agree. Doesn’t look to bulky on the corner at all sir
The way you split that front bumper and widened it still using the upper and lower portions of the split was awesome ingenuity. No hate here. Looks cool. I love the look of the customer bumper.
I was on the fence about this untill i saw it taking shape then Sam brought up a good point. Restoring it to factory is ok just another factory car to have chit-chat over at show&shines but you pull this off it will show off your talent and be one above the rest! There is a bunch of obstacles when you customize an old car but don't lose momentum and get it complete! Good luck Ben looking forward to more episodes 👍
Its harder to restore a car into factory, than doing this restomod !!!! FACTS !@!
Ben.. you have taken this car in the right direction 100%. Your creativity has really been exemplified on this car. I commend you on all the hard work paying off. Great job! Be proud and jeep up the hard work. Stay safe and be well. Slava Ukraini
I totally agree!
no one knows your vision better than you. each build is its own piece of art. i love the way you attack projects. keep up the great work.
Stevie Wonder vision more like.
love the direction you are going with this build brotha!
Love it so far! The only thing I'd do different is the side scoops... the edges. I'd model them after the fins next to the front grille so they don't look so straight and sharp (or maybe do some fins like the ones next to the headlight bucket). Anyway, look forward to seeing this completed!
"It'll be worth $30k... if you put $40k into it." Truest words on TH-cam! Your Mustang will be worth far more than a stock one. Great idea on splitting the bumper, too. Really good work!
Really its worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Cant really put a set value on something custom. personally i thinks its worth more than 40k said and done.
Noooo it wont 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bumper idea looks sick so far! Obviously lots of tweaks and testing to go, but I see the vision
Experimentation is the key to any build. Keep up the good work no matter what the fools will tell you. In the end it is your creation. You're art.
You are doing a fabulous job loving the way it’s looking great job
its awesome the way ben is turning this channel up, putting it personal, a thing that was only a simple build like any other somehow its going to a full artistic way of car build, like the old days.
Ben, the two years I’ve been watching you I’ve never made any comments, but I felt compelled to do so now. Young man you are super talented, let that vision you have in your mind come to life! Your artistic talents stand out just as much as your mechanical talents do when you have a car on a frame machine restoring its life! Don’t apologize for your vision because it’s fascinating watching you give this Mustang another life! In addition, I am learning a ton of information watching you! When you took on the McLaren project I was hoping you weren’t in over your head, but you nailed it! Keep up the great work! I’ll continue watching. All the best!
This kid got skills
I'm a "stock" guy, but I appreciate your design sense here; the front bumper looks pretty good! Samcrac is right, there is no shortage of vintage Mustangs..."you do you"
Good to see Samcrac in one of your videos! When this project is complete, I wonder if you two plan on testing things out a bit! Samcrac in his Ferrari 360 and VTuned in his Mustang. That would be awesome!!!
I like it.
I thought it was the wrong move going with the flares and things, but now it’s going to look tuff.
Side scoops need a slight radius to them
For the lower splitter use some flexible rubber material like they do on the GT3 Porsche so it can be quickly replaced if it gets scuffed up
So far it looks great. I had a 1970 Mustang Coupe when I was stationed in Germany (1969-1974). I raced it on the local airfields that were set up on different bases. Just before I got received a transfer to the Netherlands, the German police indicated that my Mustang was too wide for the German roads and I was told that I could not drive it on street. I had started to enlarge and widen the wheel wells. So with the military police and my NCOIC, senior military in charge, I parked my Mustang behind his Dodge Polaria, and German police were my was. I pointed out that it was behind the Dodge. They couldn't see it because the Dodge was six wider on both sides. I told them I was leaving the area and took the car to Munich to have it painted. Once that was done I drove to my next duty station. I miss that car. Now I have a 1971 Mustang. A lot of work has been done on it, but it is setting under my carport gathering dust. I am unable to finish this project due to three back surgeries that I've had. Take it slow but deliberate to get your concepts down and put them into action. Nice work.
I like where this car is going! I'm enjoying watching! The splitter could be just a carbon fiber piece. Nice and thin. I think that would finish it off with a slight modern look. I like the bulky look of the bumper. Gives it a very muscular look. Stay with your vision. Don't worry about the haters!
Make the splitter following the curve of the bumper.
i love too see its looking like Eleanor for movies gone in 60 sec!!love you vision..
Has he even checked to make sure the wheels can turn full left and full right without hitting the flares he putting on?
Yes the splitter doesn't need a thick flat edge. You might want to look for a splitter out of ABS plastic doesn't get bent on curbs.
Lots of respect for the hard labor and professionalism you put into this build. Since you want our advice, I'd perhaps loose the front lip. It kind of make the car look a little bit like an hat. A bit too beefy for my taste, but either way, knowing you on this tube, it's going to be epic.
The rims look awsome on this Mustang...
Front maybe better to return it as OEM and remove the vent, rest all are OK,
(Steel add weight)
Need to install the all suspensions to ensure all fits well..
Ngl, those wheels look dope on it already. Probably not my style if I had to do it custom, but i'm excited to see what you do with this build dude. Your craftmanship and personality will show in this car. When it's done at the end of the day, it'll be your car and it'll be a hell of a beast to drive.
Nice thing is that it still looks like a Mustang. B Is For Builds Mustang looks like a Corvette/Camaro. Don't mention Goonzquad. Those clowns are so careless and they just throw a classic together with expensive parts, then beat an unfinished product to hell. If you keep with your innovative thinking your channel will grow. I love what you are doing. You and your brothers have a lot of heart and it isn't just for show like some other channels.
That front bumper looks like it belongs on a tractor trailer sorry the rest is great
i think the bulky splitters look amazing
Interesting, one again seeing you and B doing similar builds at the same.time from different angles. I love both. This one is looking more old school muscle. B's is a bit more futuristic, modern take. What you are doing, I'd love to do with my old 87 trans am!
I still sense something is wrong in your world. I hope you plow though whatever that is, and show us the talent we all know you have.
I've sensed it too. Keep it up Ben. I'm far away, living in Cape Town South Africa.
I love it as is. You're the designer, if you think it's too thick or wide, thin it out. It's your vision, your design. You own it.
Well done Ben 👏🏻. Front splitter is nice & the rear arch vent works well. it's going to look awesome
Gotta agree with Samcrac on the side vents. The rest is awesome though. Enjoying watching your build.
Looking good, the wheels make it easier to visualize.
Can I suggest the side vents be longer and end at the door line and not halfway to the wheel or at least the front angle match the angle of the door.
Also, kinda looked like if you had another one of those chrome front bumoers you could use it as a lower lip.
Keep up the good work
Good luck.
Bumper looks good no need to shorten it, just make the splitter slimmer in height, will look 👍🏻
Loving the direction you are going with the front end! You have a great vision for this car and I can't wait to see the final product!! Keep up the fantastic creative process Ben!!!
Looks like a car off death race 🏁
Ben before long this crazy build will be done and you will get to enjoy it and start another cool build
Holyyy.. I was loving the build all along but you are taking it to a next level man!! Those rims are sick as hell as well, spokespattern goes well with the wide body
Building the car out of steel is really unusual as well exciting! It’s going to be mighty heavy that’s for sure! I know it’s going to be really beautiful and I hope you are able to rust-proof all of that raw steel sufficiently to make it last for a while! Lots of comments and new subscribers so you’re doing really well Ben! Stay blessed buddy!
Ben, you may want to consider shrinking down the height of the front bumper so the front splitter is at the same plane as the side skirts. it may improve the look keeping it more symetrical and not so JDM choppy.
dude , you really need to build all the suspension first get the car standing on all 4 wheels under load before you start to build the body , it is near impossible to make the suspension to the body with out doing a bunch of sketchy things to make it work, like wheel spacers or messed up geometry , you haven't even factored in suspension travel into your body design and being you are doing it all in metal one scrape on a curb everything will be pulled out of shape
Have you ever run wheels spacers?
@@theupscriber65 wheel spacers throw your suspension geometry out of whack fine if you’re gonna use a quarter inch or 3/8 of an inch but when you start talking putting one or 2 inches maybe 3 inches a wheel spacer everything will be fucked up. Never mind the added stress that you’re counting on holding up under hard driving when you have multiple bolts between your rim and your hub
Under load means after he's done the body, not before, you contradicted yourself in what you said there...
@@DarkDeath7611 underload means standing with the cars weight on the suspension
Wait until he turns the wheels and it hits. Then makes an episode where he's cutting out metal.
Bravo lindo trabajo y diseño sera un Mustang original !!
Fiberglass is great but metal fabrication is a fantastic form of art and creativity. Love what you are doing. Keep it up.
What I love from this channel is that you sir are a very good fabricator.
I like the front. I agree that a smaller splitter would be an improvement.
I like the bumper and the fact that you are making it out of your head, so keep it up.
You should build molds of the fenders, flares and bumpers so you can have spare parts if needed or even sell to customers who want your look.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like the shape of the bumper into the flared fender. Breaks up all the flattened side.
The thing I like about the 1st gen Mustang is the flat panels for doing bodywork.
I think it's cool you're keeping that theme with this build.
The splitter needs to 'follow the lines of the bumper', and protrude out about 1.5 to 2 inches. She's looking sweet so far. Love the channel. God bless.
Something to consider is the front lip being made of steel, if it bumps something, it might create a lot of damage. Keep up the good work, I'm sure you are motivational to many.
That's right Tennessee. Do your own thing because it's your car. The front bumper and air dam are looking fantastic. I can't wait to see the finished design. I am excited!
this guy has to be the best wing-it guy with cars. this thing is turning out nice
I don’t know why some people hate this but to me this car will be one of the sickest mustangs👌👌👌
Hey vtuned very nice job good build one time 1965 ford mustang gt coupe v8 coyote engine 6 speed manual transmission looking like shows car be back road very nice good job on car love support very good job on car number one ☝️ 3 weeks Monday and Wednesday and Friday be happy people worldwide me and my son love like watching TH-cam channel 3 weeks videos on TH-cam channel be good vtuned to watch videos very good nice job on car
Samcrac came up from Florida to visit. Cool!
You go boy! Love it, great progress. I agree with you on the restomod...I had a fully restored show winning 1960 Corvette....and at the end of the day it was a 1960 car....didn't start well, didn't stop, and drove like the 1950 truck chassis it was made from. This will be a beauty!
I bet those haters is all talk and cant even weld a piece of metal. Lovin the front bumper ben! True king of metal works!
Loving this build since Day 1
I like it. Screw the negative comments. He seems like a great young man.
Tá ficando top demais esse Mustang
You destroy the look for this beautiful mustang ! The front and the back better to give the shape for this model without changing
Nailed the front bumper. Keep it bulky at the top and put the big vent and two side vents and the bottom (so it matches the top one). And please paint it a nice metallic gray like Eleanor. Maybe even some stripes
I wouldn't change a thing about how you've done the wide body or the bumper. I like them!
No matter what a hater will say the Best is what you doing something different.🙏🙏🙏
It’s your car, build it how you want too. Sometimes things don’t look good at the start but become epic in the end.
I believe the splitter should follow the line of the bumper less of a square corner. I think you are going the right way, but you do you because it’s what only you can do. Success is yours or failure that’s up to you and you alone. Well done for actually building and showing us 🙏
This thing is looking all mad max right now 😂. Get yourself a flat piece of carbon fiber and make a splitter from that. You need something flat that isn't a sheet of metal that will just cut somebody 😆
Looking sick! Love that you are having fun with it and building it how you want it. The splitter looks way to bulky though. Flat carbon piece would look way better.
Make the brake cooling vents circular to match the headlights, and instead of a long center vent have three circular ones as well, great build!!
Dude, that splitter looks brutal!!!!
@Samcrac!! It's great to see him back on your channel. In fact, I have him to thank for introducing me to @Vtuned garage!
Bestes mustang build on u tube v tune you hit a home run this build is total custom, when it is done 50 thousand is way to cheap, love the build 👍👍👍
Without the vents in the front it kind of looks like a semi truck bumper but i think the vision is good. It'd be cool if you can somehow roll the edges of the vents inward like the grill.
Not really sold on that lip yet, but it's your car! I think a aftermarket carbon fiber splitter/under body aero could still fit up since the bumper carries the same shape, just taller.
Great so far, I will like to suggest that you cut the tip of the bumper from the flair about 3 to 4 inch and fab a strait connection to the flair, so keep the curve from the top but strait out the side. It will make the connection to the flair to the bumper easier.
Cheers
looks good, bend the the lip so it looks like a wedge. that will make it look thinner. KEEP IT UP, mustang came around
I was in two minds about watching this video, because of the thumbnail, but seeing the Mustang at diffrent angels and the curves of the metal of the front bumper it looks (as in V-Tuned speak) Freaking Amazing!!!!
You don't need a wider wheel or different suspension parts. You just need a different offset on your rims. The flush mount rims are ugly anyway. You need a dish style rim with a polished aluminum lip.
Screw the haters and keep doing the things that brings your vision to life.
No one should ever try to critize anyone else for even attempting to do what you have with this bumper simply because of how hard it is to get it right. Thats why they do charge $100 an hour fabricating, yet you seem to do an excellent job here and i am impressed to be quite honest!
Love the look you are achieving, sort of like a 1970's BMW 2002 with the wide flares and the air dam.
Wow,it's ford fatback snow plow by marks,Christmas is a common.
Dude, do it how you want. It looks dope. People are judging before the final product. I can see the potential. Love the creativity and the ingenuity. Keep going, dude! I want to see you driving this thing!!
22:22 I'd leave the factory bumper proud of the fender but I would remove the rounded off end and follow the line of the front air dam where it meets the flare. Continue that line up to the bumper.
For the openings I'd use the lines of the head light bezel and existing grill as your start and stop points. I tend to design things symmetrical though.
I love when car builders go in their own direction. These purist guys drive me nuts. We've seen those before.
I don't hate the splitter but it doesn't work with the bottom half of the bumper. So something needs to be done to merge the looks of the two. Rather its losing the bottom half of the bumper and connecting the splitter to the bumper, or redoing the splitter, or scrapping it. I just know the two aren't working together ATM due to that weird gap
This car will be a beautiful beast when you have it completely built.
I love the way you think of an idea and just do it without doubting yourself. Such an inspiration. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
At the end of the day it’s all about what you want not someone else. Everybody else can go get themselves a car and build their dream version. It’s nice to see you’ve got your groove and enthusiasm back.
I love the split and thickened bumper.
Time for a few more metal working tools, a shrinker/stretcher would be handy for creating some of those multi compound bends and whatnot.
Would it help to work with parts that are all one color? ..like just keep painting them a flat black or something. When I design things it helps when they are mono-chromatic so my eye isn't distracted by shifting colors. Looking really cool !
THE IRONY!! Sam crac telling someone to finish up a car!
Personally I think you need to incorporate the square shape of the custom bumper now onto the fenders doors and even rear quarter panel to make the car over all more wide looking basically like a "ground effect kit" that goes half way up your doors and fenders to the height line of your new bumper and blend it with what you already have going on and then it will be sick af
Looks realy good men. Keep going! The splitter needs be slimmer. And make it at an angle that it scoops air up.
I like where your going with the front end. I think it will compliment the fender flares.
I really love your design on this car. Something like this would be something i would purchase for my own Mustang or i would love to see in Need for Speed, where the only thing you can do is bolting some standard, ugly looking and only digital formed overfenders on the car.
Building the Bodykit out of steel is maybe heavier than Aluminium or Fibre Glas, but there are three main points for it beeing out of metal:
1. You are used to work with steel, so you get more progress in less time,
2. Steel is easier to work with by nature (e.g. magnets for holding Parts in place for welding) and
3. With the Twin Turbo Coyote the car will have more power than the tires can handle anyway, so having more weight, even if it's not that much, will help with traction.
Hey Ben, nice work on the mustang.
With the front bumper, maybe would have been best to have an outward angle rather than an inward angle.
I can see you're taking inspiration from Hoonigan, Ken Block's mad mustang.
Maybe just ask him for a spare bumper😁
I'd love an update on this car. The bumper and flares look fantastic.
Also the green light that shows when you're welding aluminum is a pretty cool color as well
