That rear roof seem is down low like that so the same body shell could accommodate being a coupe or a convertible without having to produce a third dedicated shell (1st being coupe 2nd being the fastback). Having restored one of these cars myself - based on what I'm seeing after blasting you got a dream foundation to start with.
That man seemed to really know about the problem area on cars and he knew his business. That young man spraying the car seemed to be a natural at it. Nice to see a car come out so well!!! Well done!!!
I used to be in the business and anyone who can point a water hose can sandblast. I used to hire high school kids, suit them up in respirators and Tyvek suits, train them for an hour, and let them go.
3:28 For future reference, rotors and drums slide quite well on 2 x 6 lumber. I've seen many tow trucks drag a vehicle off the wheels up onto a flat bed just by sliding the 2 x 6 under the rotor or drum. You could also have attached it to the hitch of your beater Ranger and used that to pull it out.
Jak patrzę na ludziach I widzę ich chęć i zapał do danego modelu auta i jak tłumaczą innym powiem szczerze parę lat w sferze życia i zacząć w latach 90 i nic nie zmienia się ...
The body looks really decent! I am glad that you are feeling better... Note to self "next build keep wheels and tires until we are sure that we are done with them"
Down low seam on the roof is so they could have coupe and convertible on the same shell. You really did get a great foundation to work with you have very minimal rust and the parts that are rusted are easily replaceable. You did good. Just make sure you get some primer on that car in the next few days so it doesn't start rusting again.
I used to work in a shipyard and they vapor blast the hull now from the traditional sandblasting. This was due to environmental concerns and it is cleaner as you have seen. I can not wait you finish this hot rod and keep up the great videos.
Yeah I have seen a very thin layer rust appear after just hours on bare metal. You can just rub it of with bare hands after such a short time. But still highly unwanted
I have the Dustless Blasting system that looks very similar to this process. I use recycled crushed glass with the inhibitor . It has its pros and cons. I think dipping a car is the best way to go if its available to you.
Depending on the cost. I watched a video of the dipping and apparently they're charging around $2500+ for that process which can take from 4 days up to 2 weeks depending on the condition of the vehicle.
Definitely smart to replace the firewall. Besides the rust that took the most heat damage other than maybe the roof. Maybe look into checking out if there’s a way to test the frame rail integrity? Especially putting in a 5.0 coyote you do NOT want those twisting any more than stock would
Well done human forklifters, the condition off the Mustang is great and much better than I expect !! This will be a great car when it is finisht. Love this video as always !!
The guys did a fantastic job vapor blasting this car. It would have very nice if you had a rotisserie to vapor blast the underneath. Looking forward to the next video. Great job 👌
Okay Ben you need to research on putting front "torque boxes" on the car. You are cutting out the right side where it goes already. Look into it, with the Coyote motor highly suggested. Jus saying.
Wow that is some crazy ass PSI on the vapor blaster. Like one baby notch below a water jet cutter sheeeesh just stripped that to bare metal like no joke
Amazeballs! Back in the day my friend Roger had a new 66 2+2 dark green fastback. I had my 63 Impala parked behind him in his parent's driveway. He backed up without looking and hit my car. This dented my front license plate but did major damage to the Mustang. The rear bumper was caved in and both rear fenders pooched out in an outward "V" shape. Flimsy construction. Fortunately the insurance paid for the repairs and it was looked great. We had lots of fun in that "Muskrat".
I have two 68 Mustangs now and have had a few 65s and 66s as well as a few 67s. Not sure how many I have had in total probably a dozen or more. Looking at your build with great interest.
That blasting really made a difference to that Mustang. Can't wait to see the front suspension on it . Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family.
The Goonzuad should have Vapor blasted the 67 Camaro the drivers rear quarter panel is iffy at best. This is a good looking pony no surprises under the paint.
"I don't know how we're going to move it, I kinda sold the tires and wheels" lol DUDE, that's the funniest thing I've heard all week! (don't get too excited, it's only tuesday! hahaha)
you are probably right but the metal probably got stressed with all that fire damage. its probably to weak to save. although i have seen metal workers use torches and water to bring back rigidity to panels like that.
@@tobiasripper4124 . The paint would be worse if it got hot enough to seriously weaken the metal . The process with torches and wet rags is called shrinking . Some guy sells a large stainless steel disk that you put on an angle grinder to heat the metal for shrinking instead of using torches as it is less concentrated and a bit safer.
Thanks for the fantastic video you really are one of the best u-tube video maker and I glad the brothers are doing good as well great to see your hard work paying off all the best
You could make a couple of back wheels from sheet timber, couple of pieces of 1/2" ply screwed together and cut into a circle. Drill out the hub and bolt holes and away you go. Stretch an elastic band around the circumference for extra grip 🚙 💨
I eat in a chassis stiffening kit for sure. The car is a unibody and flexes like crazy. Add front torque boxes and frame connectors at the very least. Car will handle much better and your gaps won’t change everyone you go for a spirited drive
Definitely a great canvas to start with after the blasting. This should be a piece of cake for you. I can't wait for the mockup of the new parts. Definitely going to be a beast.

I was wrong. Being an insurance scam auction car, I thought you would find more bondo in the back half. Good for you. This looks like a fairly solid foundation.
You should have made a jig/frame that allowed you to rotate the car and wheel it about so you can easily get to the underneath parts (I know you have a lift in the workshop). It would have allowed the guy to blast the underneath. You could look at chemical dipping/treating it to get in to the parts you can't reach

Ford Falcon is the same chassis as well , at least the floor , wheel base , and drivetrain .
ha, I just posted the same thing. That's what I figured as well.

Replacing the firewall should come before you mount the subframe. Also primer on the frame.
When I first screwed up my back, shoulder and knees at 21, I didn't care...
At 68, I care.

Hunter did such a awesome job I’m so proud !!! I love you!!!!
You need to get some 'weld-through' primer on that shell as soon as possible-you'll be amazed how quickly it will rust otherwise.
Epoxy primer. Weld thru is a horrible first coat. You'll have a mess of adhesion issues.

Amazing process and well worth doing as you can see all the panels in their true form.
I made a rotisserie out of two engine stands. I used one with a crank on it so I could rotate the car over. It worked great.
This mustang is a godsend amazing foundation to work with. Good luck with project!
I have never seen an antique Mustang preserved so pristine not much rust its amazing.

Yeah HD truck is recommended to pull these rigs.
I wonder if the front tank was full still and wasnt drained before they pulled out? I hope!! LOL

you wanna get primer on there because just the oils from your hands will cause it to rust and its hard to remove from the metal
