Fantastic overview, thank you! Brings back so many lovely memories, JTAG'd my xbox 360 at the age of 13 (back in 2011) and used to visit se7ensins daily. Eventually messed up because I was a foolish kid whose first soldering job was an xbox 360 lol, and never bothered with the RGH on my jasper later on but instead gave it to a friends son. The devkit on the other hand looks great, I can only imagine the later revisions with limited edition cases!
I picked one up for $300 several years ago and I haven't done much with it. I just did a raw copy of the HDD, explored it for unfinished games (just TH-cam and Hulu lol), and deep-cleaned the shell. I should set it up finally. Mine's a black Zephyr XDK with sidecar.
Cheers 👍 Plenty on eBay but you can pay top dollar for them and finding one not locked out is impossible due to it having to talk to Microsoft every so often which is a bummer I wish they did not do that.
Would a unit like this be able to run early development builds, provided you could source the files and put them on it? I'd like to play alpha and beta versions of various games, but I'm not sure how's best to go about that. Is this worth a buy for someone who knows nothing and wants to do that, or is there another way to do it?
Yes this will run dev betas and alphas and there are a lot about when you start looking but to be fair I use my RGH modded Xbox it’s much easier to transfer files to and from with so many more features 007 golden eye remake is a cool one to try I would only go for a dev unit if you intend to try coding or want to collect them Cheers
I have like 5 Zypher Dev Kit, but without HDD on top the Cartridge I guess, and I am trying to PLAY GTA V on that, but i can't all other game are working but when i load GTA V it crash and Console reboots

Yes I would love one, not seen many online may be we will see more in the future but Microsoft seem to be more focused on having them back than they use to but it’s a shame because they are a link to the past and need to be persevered Cheers
I’m pretty sure it’s very hard to get an Xbox one dev kit actually working, xbox bans any unwhitelisted dev kits that connects to the internet and that’s how most of the consoles get banned
Hey, great video. I have an unreleased beta build of Far Cry 3 that I really want to play, but it requires a Jtag/ RGH version of the console. Can this XDK be used instead to run them on my console?
@thevetuk i was wondering are you into homebrew for the xbox 360 at all. because the reason i ask is that i have the sourceocde for a new build of mame 72 for the xbox 360.there have been new games added and fixes(sound and graphics). problem is i do not have a xbox 360 devkit to compile the sourcecode in order to create a default.xex executable to run on a jtag/rgh xbox 360. would this be something you might be interested in? thanks for any help.

Question: How do you get access to betas on dev kits? I'm looking to buy one and try to download the halo 3 pimps at sea beta but I have no clue on how any of this works. Do i need a usb stick?
If it’s just Betas and Games your after you would be better off with an RGH modded Xbox I run Goldeneye from my one the dev unit is really if you wish to play around with game code and game testing but betas would run on a dev kit but the dev community is not that available these days unless you can find a group but I tried with no luck if you can find the Beta it’s easier to run it on a modded Xbox you jus put it on a usb stick and transfer or play it straight from the Dash
@@TheVetUk How do you do that exactly? My DevKIT plays alphas and betas perfectly, but as soon as I load one on my RGH it instantly crashes the game, UNLESS I am using RGLoader.
Sound files for games are encoded using Microsoft's XMA audio format so just search xma converter on google and it should show up with some links for other playback it supports AVI, WMV, MPEG-4 Part 2, H.264 and QuickTime👍
Who remembers the first 360 XBL mass ban??? I was playing COD WAW Zombies on a backup console when the ban hammer hit. I ended up with a literal stack of banned phat 360s. I still have a white PHAT which somehow never suffered RROD.
RROD only applies to certain phat models. If you have a unit from mid 2008 or later, your console will be fine. I have a 2005 model with a 2009 GPU in it and it works flawlessly.
I had a XeDK in black a few years ago, if only I didn’t sell it ! Instantly regretted it and never came across another one in person since

Too right the good days! I Kong exploited so many phat 360s and burned thousands of DL DVDs at university.

im pretty sure the pipeline preview was just to shit on ps2 and ps3 devkits as they were horribly hard to understand what was going on inside . lol

The SDK works on XP and I had a machine handy it does work on windows 7 with a little help but easy to setup drivers for me with XP

I have a few Phat ones left but never dare use them because of the RROD issue but I did manage to dodge the ban waves some how 👍
