    Xbox Project Scorpio(Xbox One X) Devkit.
    There is 1 HDD for Retail and 1 SSD for Build Deployement.
    The OneX was supposed to have an M.2 Inside for faster load times but the idea was dropped because of price, that's why there is trace, the PCB of Devkit and Retail is different.
    Apparently, someone tried to populate it, but it does nothing, the Software just doesn't care.
    The Additionnal Memory is for all the Debugging that happend behind.
    Activation works with a Token that is send by Microsoft Server when you connect it to internet, each Devkit has Unique ID, Devkit that are not supposed to be used are Blacklisted.
    I don't think it could play Games, even it retail mode, but if it does, you actually have a pretty nice Xbox One X Pro because the Devkit is more powerfull in Raw Power than the One X..

  • @chrom4ful
    @chrom4ful 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    that cracked and smoked component is called COF (chip on film) that directly connect to the glass on LCD screen with its TCON (timing controller) board, you will need to source the COF flex and attach it with specialized bonding machine, OR replace the whole lcd+COF+TCON assembly (not sure how generic they're)
    either way doesn't seem viable to do

    An M.2 slot transplant video would be interesting, but I can't imagine it wouldn't end in failure since you'd have no way of directing the motherboard to actually use it over the SATA connection; as far as I know, neither the Xbox One nor Xbox Series consoles have been successfully jailbroken in the last ten years (easily accessible devkit mode has removed a lot of the impetus to do so). But maybe I'm overlooking something; still, it'd be a neat idea.

    That wasn't a devkit drive that you wiped, was it? If so, unfortunate. Always dump the drive before you wipe it.
    The devkit activation is done over the network, MSFT verifies you're authorized to use the kit and can disable the dev functions if not. This is what you ran into.

    It will be great, if You try to run this m.2 on retail xox. Cactus_fabG_retail schematic shows that few more components missing than only m.2 connector: to enable m.2, to enable power for m.2, reset, serial lanes caps (etc) and probably reference clock from U35. You run this devkit in the retail mode so the chance is pretty huge for m.2 in retail console.

    According to Scorpio Engine specs it has gen3x4 PCIe lanes dedicated for m.2 slot, that means we potentially can significantly improve drive speed. Another question does Xbox come with the nvme driver ? Also it won't boot from m.2 drive, coz it requires some sort of BIOS support, which is most likely missing. Still it would be nice to have extra storage for games. I vote for "m.2 video"!

    In retail mode will it perform any better playing games with the additional RAM ect. or will it only use what a retail system can use?

    • @gargaj
      @gargaj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No; all games already fit into the "retail" RAM and cannot expect any more. The additional RAM can be portioned by developers between adding extra RAM to the title (game) when debugging (so e.g. you can load in debug graphics that won't be there normally) or "tool memory" for the development tools for e.g. framerate profiling.

    I don't think that the m2 slot is gonna work on the retail console because it was a feature of the dev kit firmware, but maybe i'm wrong lol

    I remember my first smoked console. Atari Jaguars have the same cord as the original nes. I thought I was smart by using the nes one because it fit and I didn’t have the jag one. Bad idea
