I’m very glad to see VW is not as angry at us as they were over the diesel gate scandal (I never blamed them for it). I say this because they’re letting us have nice cars again. Mercedes seems to Have lost their way. They seem to introduce a new model every other day to cover some part of the market that they’re not already covering. BMW seems to have lost its soul, focusing on how polarizing the grill can be every time they redesign. VW in the past has been the brand I hated the most, due to its reliability. I now see VW as genuinely trying to earn and keep business, the effort is showing, and I like the directions they are taking. The Arteon is taking what started as the CC to a whole new level. So I just bought the 2022 arteon. Traded in my A8L 2015. The arteon has so many audi features. I had the loaner A5 for a couple of weeks while the A8 was in the shop and I prefer the arteon over the A5, it has more features and feels less like a tin can than the 2022 A5’s do. The A 5 for some reason rattles and the doors don’t sound solid. The Arteon is tight.

As much as I like the regular Arteon's looks, it's the 2021 Arteon R which gets my vote. Unfortunately that version won't be coming over to the States...At least not yet. Hopefully enough folks will settle for the lesser iteration and entice VWG mgmt with visions of sugar plums and greater profits with the sexier R and bring that hottie here! Show of hands!✋

A couple of observations... As with many vehicles the differences in trim levels can be confusing. In the case of the Arteon there are 3 trims for 2021. The base SE model has an MSRP under $37K but it lacks a significant number of features and options (including AWD) that are available on the top two trims, the SEL R-Line and the SEL Premium R-Line. The top two trims have MSRPs of $41.6K and $47.0K respectively. But that's misleading since the standard AWD on the top Premium trim is optional on the mid level SEL R-Line trim at a price for $1800 MSRP. With that in mind, the difference between the top trims amounts to $3600 in MSRP. For that premium the Premium trim comes with the following features that aren't offered on the mid-level non-premium SEL R-Line. () 20" wheels vs 19". () Premium Harman Kardon sound system with more speakers. () Ventilated front seats () Massage featured driver seat () Powered rear hatch () A 360 degree camera view Whether those differences are worth opting for the top trim is a personal decision, of course. But the price difference between the t top trims don't stop there. Here in the Seattle area the AWD SEL R-Line mid-trim is being offered by a number of dealers for less than $38,000, between $6K and $7K under MSRP. The SEL Premium R-Line, on the other hand is widely advertised (though not necessarily sold) at MSRP. (Although at least one dealer in the Seattle area is advertising the Premium model for $$2K. That makes the price difference between the two trims from $4000 to $9000. And at $38K including destination before tax, title, and license, the mid-level SEL R-Line is in the same price category as a fully loaded Accord Touring or a Camry V6, neither of which offers AWD or a number of other premium features compared to the Arteon. In short if one is willing to forego the items noted above, the mid-level SEL R-Line is a screaming bargain. I realize that reviewers are more or less forced to base their comments on price based purely on MSRP. But as this example suggests, the reliance can be seriously misleading in the real world.
First things first: Drew, just buy the RS6 thats on your screensaver already!🤣 Seriously, I love the Arteon. I really hate that VW doesn't have the best of marketing because car-shoppers(yes, they still exist!) may not be aware of the Arteon. We looked at it, the Kia Stinger and K5, and Accord Touring. We tested an SEL and i was very impressed. Unfortunately, I did not feel the car was worth the extra $13k over the Accord Touring we ended up with. Audi was clearly trying to keep the VW in its place with some of hard plastics in the interior and overall polish, BUT I still think the car was fine. It is just that a Kia Stinger GT2 can be had for the same money, and is a serious performance sedan. I think VW wants the Arteon to do well, but I think I price cut is the only way possible.

I test drove this Gorgeous car, loved the exterior and interior looks but its Achilles heel is its week engine :( I currently own 2013 VR6 Passat and can’t find a car that I enjoy driving as the VR6...waiting for the Type S!! Or a quicker Arteon
Can someone explain what is the difference between arteon and arteon r line? I am soooo confused, i search arteon and all i see is arteon R LINE!!! Wtf!!?
VW isn't doing itself any favors by not advertising this model. Most people to this day still don't know it exists even though it has been around in the US market since 2019. As far as the pricing goes, you can get these cars for up to $10K off the MSRP at most dealerships if you finance it through VW credit.
I love Volkswagen a lot but I will never understand their affinity for glossy black plastics. It’s nice when it’s clean but it’s literally impossible to keep it clean. I’d honestly rather have matte black plastics so there’s less visible fingerprints and smudges.
I have a 19 Jetta S... At first I wanted to get a GLI next, but now I'm not sure. I would honestly rather upgrade to this than a Passat! And if you wait until the next year, VW discounts the new previous year cars pretty well. There's a new 2020 for sale for around $26k on CarGurus
It would be LIT if North America introduce in Arteon R and its Shooting Brake model. By the way, if anyone could explain the logic why all North American VW and Audi delete that auto-hold button, so weird!
@Terri Mansfield Well I got the SEL R Line, and I should have gotten the premium, if for nothing else other than the power hatch. I love it though, I got the windows 18% tinted so it’s almost completely blacked out with the black paint. It looks menacing and people ask me about it everywhere I go. So far I’m happy with, and it’s actually quicker than the HP would have you believe. Although the rear interior lights don’t come on when the doors are open, so I need to take it back and ask them about it.
It's a beautiful car but those pillar-less doors are a bad idea, window motors will be the first thing to breakdown with the constant up/down movements every single time you open/close the doors.
@@shawneal1 That's the truth! 0-60 is normally ~5.5 seconds. So if that bump in horsepower and torque takes the car to 5 seconds, that's nothing to sneer at. Especially coming from a four banger. So...you're getting performance AND decent mileage? Not bad! For those who keep harping on the VR6, VWG TRIED it. They say it totally ruined the driving dynamics of the car. ABT can boost the hp even more (336) AND give you a warranty for peace of mind.. Okay, ABT, where's my endorsement fee??! 😉

It is just that a Kia Stinger GT2 can be had for the same money, and is a serious performance sedan. I think VW wants the Arteon to do well, but I think I price cut is the only way possible.

@@DMCarReviews I mean I love my headlights, it’s the other people on the road that don’t lol, it gets annoying to be flashed out and blinded
@@superiortoall22 Have maybe encountered that once...but I actually had my high beams on.
How is their long term reliability?
I have got a 2019 one and its done 42 thousond miles now and its never had an issue great car
I love vw inshallah vw is coming to Pakistan soon.
I test drove this Gorgeous car, loved the exterior and interior looks but its Achilles heel is its week engine :( I currently own 2013 VR6 Passat and can’t find a car that I enjoy driving as the VR6...waiting for the Type S!! Or a quicker Arteon
The new Cadillac V is sharp looking but haven’t test drove it yet, ill give it a try 👍
Apr tune
@@GMTSuburban I’d do that but that would void the warranty 😬
@@jeansassine APR plus replaces your factory warranty and covers the power train.
Arteon R mate comes out in 2022
Can someone explain what is the difference between arteon and arteon r line? I am soooo confused, i search arteon and all i see is arteon R LINE!!! Wtf!!?
The R Line is just a trim (sportier look) on the Arteon, not to be confused with the R version (the US doesn’t get that version )
Gonna need them to up that screen game. 7.5-8 inches isn’t gonna cut it.
Which trim should I get?
R line is nice its personal choice tho
Really torn between a new one of these or a low mileage Q5 premium plus....
Get the Arteon. It’s a nicer looking car and honestly we don’t need yet another crossover on the road
Do you want a VW or Audi badge?
Vw arteon
I have a 19 Jetta S... At first I wanted to get a GLI next, but now I'm not sure. I would honestly rather upgrade to this than a Passat! And if you wait until the next year, VW discounts the new previous year cars pretty well. There's a new 2020 for sale for around $26k on CarGurus
And a 2021 urus
Please
Definently a nice car. But for the price, I'd get the Stinger with the TT v6.
Still very nice.
Still A Kia
Please review a 2021 passat cc
The Arteon is the Passat CC in case you didn’t know 😂😂😂😂
@@jmml1 no its the europe passat not usa passt
@@hiiiofficial8306 the Passat CC was replaced by the arteon in 2017, do your research before posting a comment
@@jmml1 yes I know I’m just saying this arteon is based on a different platform
@@hiiiofficial8306 but then you have to agree that there isn’t any 2021 Passat CC
Thank you. Good night Kentucky.
It would be LIT if North America introduce in Arteon R and its Shooting Brake model. By the way, if anyone could explain the logic why all North American VW and Audi delete that auto-hold button, so weird!
My Arteon actually has black and dark brown interior, looks best imo
@Terri Mansfield Well I got the SEL R Line, and I should have gotten the premium, if for nothing else other than the power hatch. I love it though, I got the windows 18% tinted so it’s almost completely blacked out with the black paint. It looks menacing and people ask me about it everywhere I go. So far I’m happy with, and it’s actually quicker than the HP would have you believe. Although the rear interior lights don’t come on when the doors are open, so I need to take it back and ask them about it.
How did you guys get those rims? On the website, they only have black ones.
The website still has the 2020 model up, even though they don't label show a model year
I think it's a very attractive vehicle with terrible marketing.
I wish it didnt have that Gti/Gli interior, would be a winner for me
I wished they have all these features in a GLI with AWD😂 but it will never happen
Not much rear headroom if you’re 5’10” and above. In fact, your head hits the roof if you’re that tall. The passat’s rear headroom is so much better.
It's a beautiful car but those pillar-less doors are a bad idea, window motors will be the first thing to breakdown with the constant up/down movements every single time you open/close the doors.
I've got the Cc which has the same thing...no problems since 2012. ( I also have a 2019 Arteon that I love)

Welcome to the channel! 😁
I wish the VW logo upfront would light up.
Very nice car well designed
Me personally - just waiting for the 'R' version in the UK, may be my next car
Enjoy the R, Greg. It's a looker, especially in Lapiz Blue with the sport wheels and racing buckets 💺up front.
@@rodhoward8805 The 316bhp ain't to shabby either!
@@rodhoward8805 yeah I think maybe a touch under 5 secs (from what I have read in the press release) REVO also offer comprehensive tuning packages for this engine going up to 500bhp! They carried out worldwide testing on the engine with 80 or so vehicles and they are quite well known in the tuning industry
My Passat Gt all day everyday 💪
arteon 有新能源车型吗,
VW is in its own class right now sort of like Range Rover
piano black FTW?
Arteon or avalon? Both basically the same price and size. Close in mpg and horsepower.
V6 wins in my opinion so I would say Avalon/Lexus..etc will be better.
I like this car but wish there weren't so many blank switches around the shifter. Volkswagen has had 3 years to address/fix this.
The europe model has no blank switches ??
Undoubtedly handsome but current VW engines are not as reliable as it used to be Several GTi & Audi owner friends complain the same engine issues Good review, tho'
That's not true. Arteon's are probably one of the most reliable VW's. They use the Golf R engine and turbo, while having a very solid Japanese automatic transmission.
Here comes the "my friends said".
VW engines are OK compared to most american cars.
