Personally, I can't get enough of VW Arteon videos. Out of all "affordable" D segment cars, this is the one I fell in love with immediately and ever since their first model in 2017. My current Honda Accord is still in good shape, so not going to change anytime soon, but the Arteon definitely under my radar. Hopefully VW keep this new Arteon lineup forever and continue improving it.

They are even better value on the used car market! I have seen hi spec models in the UK with barely any mileage and thousands off the list price. I think as great as they are they don't sell well - I don't see many on the road. Personally I'm waiting for the 'R' version when it's released in the next month or so, possibly pick up a very low mileage one later in the year or new if discounts are available.
I heard VW might not be replacing the Arteon as their range will be going full electric in time however it may become a electric sedan based on the concept car they showed a little while ago.

Man, Vw is NOT "affordable" brand (car) ! Vw is fery, fery expensive car's ! Since 1996 Volkswagen has become a premium brand with the Passat B5 model and in 1998 Volkswagen has become a luxury-sports brand. Also Volkswagen Arteon is in class with 6 Series, A7, CLS but Arteon is more expensive than 6 Series and A7 but cheaper than CLS.

I freaking love it. I love the design of Sportback Audis like A7 / A5 but their transmission system eats too much oil and breaks easily. This car is easily everything I would want from a family sedan.

I thnk it looks absolutely perfect, I was considering purchasing a certified 2019 (low 30sUSD) with the huge leftover warranty but these updates for 2021 will make me go for a 2021 at the end of year, these do seem to sit in lots I see many dealers with tons of 2020s (8k off) new still & discounted 2021 (5k-7koff).
Honestly it's very unique, it's timeless to VW special vehicles, I've always driven luxury brands but I not only am looking forward to this kinda change up but I certainly feel the value is there. Man these updates for 2021 really take the Arteon to nearly the absolute perfect level!!

Totally agree. The 2021 redesign (especially the 20" wheels) give it way more presence. Looks more resolved than the previous design. Now if they'd only send us the wagon version!

I was in the same predicament, was going to go for a 2019 pre owned sel Premium R Line for $28,900 at 16k miles, but I was able to negotiate a buy price of $40,800 on a 21 sel Premium R Line down from $49k msrp. Walked out with a 36 month 12k miles per year lease at $579 per month after taxes with 0 cash out of pocket and vw paying the first month.
It was tough but you just gotta hope a dealer is looking to move cars. Incredible car, very impressed. A similar a5 with the same Tech and comfort options jumped up to the mid 70s in price, for a 45 tfsi engine. Not worth it for me.
      Usd pricing btw.

Very true with this price point someone will prefer an SUV to this despite the unique designs interior & exterior with all this features. You can probably get a full option Kia Telluride around $42,000 that's a huge difference cos the SUV plays a very important role than the Arteon.

Good review. We are kindred souls regarding Arteon. I had a 2010 CC and just loved the car. I had a manual. 100k trouble free miles. I REALLY wanted the Arteon R Shooting Brake for my daily driver. It is the PERFECT vehicle (in my world) well, if it had a manual. I ended up buying a 2019 Arteon SE 4motion in Mid-2020. I paid $32k U.S. Just a lot of vehicle for that amount of money. I don’t have a sunroof or digital cockpit and I am happy about that. I prefer the launch grill and vents so good there too. I can fit both my dog crates and golf clubs in rear with seats down. Perfect for me. Decent performance. Apple Car Play. No haptic buttons. 6 year warranty. I will trade it in pronto if a shooting brake comes to U.S. I will chip to golf r performance after warranty is finished. My wife drives an SUV so we have that “if needed”, but Arteon is a great ride at my price point. The car is doomed in U.S. as everyone wants SUV’s...Ford figured that out. VW will too...eventually. Thanks again for a great review.

It simply isn’t quick enough to be enjoyable. Perhaps if the Kia Stinger didn’t exist this car would fare better but you can get a twin turbo Stinger GT for comparable money. If VW wants to truly compete they need offer the 300HP euro version in the US for the same price as a Stinger GT. Until then the Arteon is best enjoyed visually from the outside, not behind the wheel.

I drive an Arteon since 2018. I love driving it.You have to care about comfort and good cornering at the same time. The HP ratrace is useless, there is always a faster car. Is a faster car better? Is only the fastest car for people who like to drive? Well maybe you will learn the answer after you get experienced and have driven more cars in your life. When I was just a young man I always judged cars from the specs in the car magazines. I see you do the same.

@@aris8332 I didn’t say the car wasn’t polished and that it doesn’t strike a good balance between handling and ride quality. Those are important features for everyday driving, but their presence alone does not make acceleration “fantastic.” A 1969 Mustang GT will accelerate like a demon, but that doesn’t make its handling “fantastic.”
Has nothing to do with chasing numbers in a magazine - has to do with the push in the back when you hit the accelerator and the sound of the engine at full bore. Both of these elements are key to actual driving pleasure as much as ride and handling balance, and both are missing from this Arteon.
I drive a Q5 with the same engine as a daily driver so I know what I speak, and even my sedate crossover is quicker.
When one can head down to the Kia Dealer and get a Stinger twin turbo V-6 and near identical ride and handling for the price of this Arteon, hard argument to call the Arteon price justified as a driver’s car.

@@ryanlieberman9255 because the main focus was towards comfort and luxury. Drive that stinger and this arteon back to back someday ,you will find out this drives nicer.

@@shivamthakur8148 I don’t disagree that the Arteon has merit as a near luxury cruiser. That wasn’t my point. My point was calling Arteon acceleration fantastic is misplaced. It’s not fantastic by any measure in 2021, and IMO the car is underpowered at this price point. This fact is particularly frustrating since the fix is so simple. All VW has to do is up the boost on the turbos (which already is being done in other VW/Audi vehicles with the same engine).

Agree if you are buying the car for performance and NOT (as it is designed as a GT cruiser daily driver). I have a Porsche 997 GTS for fun. The Arteon is for utility and function. (Double dog crates/4motion). Six flat is adequate for 0-60. It IS more refined than the Stinger (say reviews) so there’s that. I prefer the VW looks and driveability, but 100% agree that Stinger is the way to go if Performance (acceleration) is #1. For me it was/is not. $32k out the door for a 2019 (6 year warranty) SE 4motion.

too expensive and under powered. I would like a VR6 in this or a 5cyl turbo like in the rs3

It's beautiful but that's it. It only looks the part. It's missing what used to make VW's special. Doesn't handle and it's not quick. It's not fun to drive.
The CC was awesome to drive.
Also, VW always sets up they're cool product for failure with the huge lack of marketing. Only VW fanatics know Arteon and it's huge lift back that could replace a crossover exist.

Your review was good but you might want to cool it with the “ what i love most about this car “ routine. You must have said that 25 times. Sounds like vw paid you to pretend you’re in love with the vehicle.
