Sooo helpful! I am planning on getting a whippet sometime in the near future, and would love to train him or her in flyball! Some of the earlier steps (the "Take and Drop" and "Catch") look like they are basic enough to train a puppy to do (though I'm sure it is a lot more work than it looks).
Same here! Although I’m more looking for a lurcher/whippet cross, I’ve been watching a lot of videos on fly ball😂

My Whippet has brilliant obedience; doing our Bronze and surpassing some Collies in Obedience training...BUT fetch is on a whole new level!
My boy will chase and grab it, then as soon as I call him back; drop it and run back!
He's the only dog in our class that can't retrieve! Haha
They are brilliant! But training a non-retriever breed/dog is much different from this video. We have started teaching to just touch the item, then a mouth...lol

The last fly ball weekend I went to was crazy. As soon as the pups heard the launcher go off they all started barking. It was so loud it was a waste to try & speak. LoL. Talk about a game dogs love 👍👍 🐾🐾

My little girl is going to her first session tomorrow night. She's a three year old Border Collie x Jack Russell x whoknows? She LOVES to fetch and tears off like a rocket. I think the hardest part will be the concept of fetching the ball when I haven't thrown it!

I need to call the Sarasota SPCA to see if they have any training for this. I think my new Dachshund puppy would excel in this. Not me so much but her yes! LOL. Thanks for this video I was wondering how to train and get them into this fun looking sport!
D Mc my dachshund x chihuahua does flyball very well but struggles to keep the ball in her mouth
any luck? I am struggling getting my chiweenie and rat terrier to get the ball to pop out. They don't weigh much so they basically need to jump on it

I cannot get my smaller dog to pop the ball. He can target and touch but cannot get him to hit the right spot to get the ball to pop. He just sticks his nose in and tries to grabs the ball by the fuzz instead. He tries to dig at it and barks like crazy trying to get the ball. Super eager to learn, he comes and gives me kisses inbetween and clearly is trying hard to get what I am trying to show him. I tried repetitions of me helping him pop it but he wont get it to go by himself. Any tips?
