as soon as I was about to give props to Sheera for her breadth of emotional intelligence she drops "well, that's one thing her and Syd can relate on"...geezus!
Richie calling Carm Donna fucking broke my ass upon first watch. I couldn’t put a finger on Carl’s self sabotaging until that point. He, unfortunately, has become a functioning version of his mom. He learned the wrong lesson from his failures and successes.
Yah'll, This show deserves a rewatch just to absorb everything. Bing it so you pick up all the little things, like the banana, the sign language that Tina does to Sydney just like how Carmy and Sydney when they want to calm things down.
Richie was truly the MVP of this season. It’s so rewarding to see him go from being immature and unserioud to in-tune and in control! I compare the moment when Richie finally settles into his role and it clicks for him to the moment from Haikyuu where Tsukishima celebrates when he blocks Ushijima 🥹
You're not even a little bit wrong. Both allowed themselves to be vulnerable again and to care about something and came out on top. This was Richie's season.
Season 3 Theory: The reason the orders ran smoother under Richie than Sydney is because she was experiencing brain fog. It's why she kept ignoring Marcus' pastry counts. She writes everything down in those mini journals instead of uploads to the cloud. The meds in the bathroom. Her vomiting in the alley. Brain Fog is a symptom of Lupus
idk if its lupus bc the vomiting could be stress induced (i think she was chugging pepto a lot this season like carmy did in season 1), and her ignoring marcus could just be her being overwhelmed/didnt hear him/feeling awk bc he asked her out. The meds could also be unrelated but who knows. Cool theory tho, hope it doesnt happen bc that would suck but its cool nonetheless!
For a very long time, I felt the same way about myself, as Carmy felt about himself. Ive only recently seeked help, but this show perfectly represents what self sabotage can do to you, and to the people around you. Carmy believes he doesn’t deserve happiness, just like his mother feels the same way about herself. Which is why Richie called him “Donna”. Self Sabotage is a very dangerous and so destructive. Actually watching what couldve eventually happened to me woke me up. This show is a masterpiece.
It probably has been said already and i myself only realized it when i saw it on a comment in a different video.. soo carmy kinda helped everyone else with growth and everything, and during all that he just kinda didnt do anything for himself. Its really bittersweet
As someone who's been a line cook for a few years, the amount of line cooks who do meth or coke or drink on the job is wild lol. They're not wrong, they would not survive without it. Most of them have multiple jobs it's the only way with how the system is. They actually do perform better, can't say they will live a long life but works for years when they're young Also, Carmy was brutal at the end but he was right. Running a restaurant is a 24/7 job. You can't have distractions like that. I've seen entire families fall apart when it's a family run business. Cicero warned him and he was right. Carmy even knew it, hence giving the fake number to her. That's why he blames himself so much because he allowed it.
i dont think carmy choosing to date clare lead to this outcome, or that any relationship would. Like Luca said, opening himself up to people is what elevated him to new heights as a chef. I think what doomed carmy was a lack of communication with both clare as well as his coworkers. He continuously dodges sources of anxiety (important phone calls from both clare and to the fridge guy). I think if he matured and became more grounded he could make it all work.
I didn’t realize it was such a common thing for families who run restaurants together to fall apart. It’s fucked up but oddly reaffirming to hear it wasn’t just my family being a complete mess that caused it to happen.
Carmy fully became his mom in this episode. He self sabotaged himself because he doesn’t feel he deserves something good, just like his mom self sabotaged herself from going into the restaurant because she too doesn't believe she deserves to be there to experience something good (the pride of seeing the success of her children). Carmy and his mom literally had the same arc in this episode to show that they have become one in the same & this was further emphasised when Carmy was called Donna(his moms name) during his argument with Ritchie... This was to show how the pathology of anger and self sabotage has been successfully transferred from mother to son.
New respect for Pete. The quite guy who takes everyones crap but smooths over the family drama without Nat or Carmy knowing. Count down to June and Season 3. Let the fall out begin.
Carmy and his mom Donna need to be forced to go to therapy before they do even worse things to the ones they love. I truly believe Donna has either bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, or likely even both. And if you look at how Carmy himself not only self sabotages and self destructs, he also clearly has mental health problems. I’m convinced that whatever mental health problems Donna has she has passed on to Michael and Carmen.
I thinks she’s got BPD (borderline personality disorder) along with alcoholism. My mom has BPD and so does my brother and neither of them were diagnosed until they had a psychotic episode that caused them to get arrested and then mandatory therapy. I started going to therapy a couple years ago and was diagnosed with CPTSD. My brother has that too, and it’s essentially chronic PTSD from exposure to long or reoccurring traumatic events. Between his panic attacks and then that crazy stuff with his boss in NY, I’m thinking that’s what Carmy has. Probably Mikey too which is how he ended up on drugs.
I really enjoyed this episode my first watch, honestly my favorite out of the series. I actually can’t believe I got emotional during the scene of Pete and Camry’s mother, it was actually so well done 🥲🧸
You’d be surprised how many restaurant workers are on the gear to get through the shift. Meth, coke, amphetamines etc. It’s to the point where it’s almost weird to have someone not coping with something.
Carmy thinks he should always be there for his team, what he doesn't realise is that he WAS. Time and time again. Encouraging Marcus, supporting Tina, shooting the shit with Sydney, literally saving Ritchie's fucking life. But for Carmy, this was all a dept that had to be paid. It wasn't a gift he gave to them, it was to repay them for standing by him and helping him emotionally. And because of that, he feels he can never repay them, so any time he spends away just increases the total against him. Naturally as Tina puts it, that's so SO silly. Nobody else at the Bear sees it that way, they just want Carmy to be happy and enjoy the job her loves.
Excited to see you react to season 3. And surprise, season 4 as well! Apparently they decided to shoot back to back seasons at the moment hence people are aware of season 4, it just hasn’t been officially announced yet.
We don't know that. They managed to FINISH the service without him, but we won't know the quality of the foods that were sent out in the opening night until the show progresses. Keep in mind that most clients of fine dining like this doesn't say the food sucked or it was meh right on to chef or staffs face. They usually review the food or the quality of restaurant after they've left. Considering this show loves to throw a curve ball at its audience, I doubt this was a 100% success.
I'd say they succeeded on their own, yes, but not without Carmy's intervention. He used his connections to level them up and give them confidence. Too bad he wasn't around to help Sydney as much, or to fix the fridge. He does deserve happiness, but not to the point of neglecting his duty. He got what he deserved with that fridge.
Richie’s L was calling Carmy “Donna” out of frustration. Calling someone by the name of the person who gave them so much trauma is wild. Carmen’s anger after that was visceral. He wouldn’t have gone off on Richie like that otherwise. Which made Richie’s desperate “I love you”s after that hurt so much more. He knew he fucked up.
If the show ended here… I would be okay with it. Sooooo many pitfalls and triumphs for it to end on a cliffhanger , would just be the greatest ending ever. I’ve never seen a show give me so many different emotions. This show was amazing.
Fun fact: if you took a shot every single time one of the chefs at the party says the word “like”, you will die of alcohol poisoning 1/4th of the way through the episode
i'm probably gonna sound like an ass, but honestly, i didn't really care for claire that much. she was such a nothing character that the writers tried so hard to make us like by literally having other charaters keep repeating how awesome she is. she lacked the depth other female characters have and was written like some sort of male fantasy to the point that i would genuinely 100% believe if it turned out that she was just in carmy's imagination. and i won't deny that she helped carmy get out of his comfort zone and challenged his unhealthy worldview, but other than that? i just couldn't bring myself to care about their relationship and i would be lying if i said i wasn't kind of glad when the breakup happened. it was all just so out of nowhere. there was no mention of her before (i don't think), but then suddenly this perfect, quirky girl appears who's kind of lowkey obsessed with carmy (i'm sorry you cannot tell me that the phone number thing wasn't weird if not creepy) and apparently everyone in the cast knows her and is just in love with her. it just didn't feel genuine, or earned, is what i'm trying to say.
Not awful points. The phone number thing was a little creepy, but the actress softens it with her adorablness. Getting the number from Fak is ok, but she asked one too many times if it was ok. Once would have been enough, or not even asking or saying how she got it, and Carmy finds out later.
i think she was meant to just serve that role this season, and not as a permanent fixture in carmys life. Kinda a way for the writers to show what carmy missed out on by being a chef. If she does come back I imagine we'll get a better look into her character bc the writers on this show do their best to give everyone some kind of meaningful storyline
Somebody already replied to your comment but I think you're looking at her from the wrong lens. I get what you're saying , I didn't really feel much about claire . But that was the point, claire is supposed to be a simple, nonchaotic, side character .Shes a foil to carmy who is everything she isn't. Busy, Overworked, stressed ,loud , etc. That's why carm latched onto her because she was his only boring escape away from the restaurant and life.
@@RondoArchived i mean i understand that it was a conscious choice by the writers to make her like this, but that doesn't change the fact that i just don't like the execution
@trufla3819 What execution don't you like if you dont mind me asking? I feel exactly the same as you and am glad things seem to be about to end between, cause it felt very forced. You can’t just tell a man with issues like carmy to chill out. You guys just don’t understand him and it’s easy to say chill the f out when you’re not the one having a panic attack. Especially getting stuck in an enclosed space like that

@@tonystonem9614 do you really think people with anxiety or issues just gets up one day and openly admits they need to go to a psych ward? You must be living fantasy world bro 😂 it takes them time
yeah, between the madness and chaos of his family and everything he has been through in the restaurant industry, he is a broken man. He's "gained" so much but doesn't have what he needs. Also, he's gained so much but at the cost of so many other things, sacrifices have to be made sometimes but his mental health is just gone if nothing else. He literally said he doesn't deserve happiness essentially.

And now….y’all are waiting like the rest of us for S3 😅! Your reactions & commentary have been fire all the way, good times. (When Roshi called out the Fridge Guy before the reaction even started…mannnn…)
This is the 1st reaction I've seen that recognizes that Carmy self-sabotages. The forks and fridge issues existed before Claire ever enters the chat. How many times did Carmy waive off help in getting these matters resolved. Richie's ex warned him not to hook Carmy up with Claire because she's "too nice" and he proved it that night. Claire was never the problem. Carmy is more like his mom than he wants to admit...
u guys are defo my fav reaction channel but damn it is so frustrating when u completely misunerstand something like Donna is Carmy's mothers name thats why he got so mad
This finale was tragic. The French brigade had a successful opening yet Carmy lost sight of everything after being locked in the fridge. Carmy’s ego will be their downfall in season 3. This show is magnificent!
Did i misunderstand why Cid was puking? My thought was that she just realized that the ticket machine was still printing orders the whole time but the paper ran empty so nobody noticed the orders that were still coming in
I do believe you misunderstood. This was just a test run for the team, the fact they STILL had orders coming is a great sign actually, but nothing of major concern I don't think. I think the stress from the past 3 months just finnaly caught up and she was able to "release it"😅

as soon as I was about to give props to Sheera for her breadth of emotional intelligence she drops "well, that's one thing her and Syd can relate on"...geezus!
Richie calling Carm Donna fucking broke my ass upon first watch. I couldn’t put a finger on Carl’s self sabotaging until that point. He, unfortunately, has become a functioning version of his mom. He learned the wrong lesson from his failures and successes.
The fights on this show were so real. Richie yelling "I fucking love you" was heartbreaking.
This proves that Carmy is just like his mom. Literally pushes everyone away who tries to help him and he constantly blames himself for everything.
Damn richie threw an "i love u " into that arguement. Carmy was too heated to even hear it😂
Yah'll, This show deserves a rewatch just to absorb everything. Bing it so you pick up all the little things, like the banana, the sign language that Tina does to Sydney just like how Carmy and Sydney when they want to calm things down.
They’re signing sorry
Marcus was on some bullsh*t. Hurt and lashing out
Richie was truly the MVP of this season.
It’s been so much fun rewatching with you guys. See you S3?
Season 3 Theory:
The reason the orders ran smoother under Richie than Sydney is because she was experiencing brain fog. It's why she kept ignoring Marcus' pastry counts.
She writes everything down in those mini journals instead of uploads to the cloud.
The meds in the bathroom.
Her vomiting in the alley.
Brain Fog is a symptom of Lupus
Omg that would be so horrible if Syd gets Lupus. I would cry 😢
@@adrianTurbogocrazy Lupus is hereditary too ...
idk if its lupus bc the vomiting could be stress induced (i think she was chugging pepto a lot this season like carmy did in season 1), and her ignoring marcus could just be her being overwhelmed/didnt hear him/feeling awk bc he asked her out. The meds could also be unrelated but who knows. Cool theory tho, hope it doesnt happen bc that would suck but its cool nonetheless!
It's never lupus
Yoooo, that's wild, good call
For a very long time, I felt the same way about myself, as Carmy felt about himself. Ive only recently seeked help, but this show perfectly represents what self sabotage can do to you, and to the people around you. Carmy believes he doesn’t deserve happiness, just like his mother feels the same way about herself. Which is why Richie called him “Donna”. Self Sabotage is a very dangerous and so destructive. Actually watching what couldve eventually happened to me woke me up. This show is a masterpiece.
"Richie...drive." mega hype.
Pete's a good dude. Everyone just shits on him because he doesn't swear and scream.
No way you shut Lupa down about Donna being his mum 🤣
It probably has been said already and i myself only realized it when i saw it on a comment in a different video.. soo carmy kinda helped everyone else with growth and everything, and during all that he just kinda didnt do anything for himself. Its really bittersweet
As someone who's been a line cook for a few years, the amount of line cooks who do meth or coke or drink on the job is wild lol. They're not wrong, they would not survive without it.
Most of them have multiple jobs it's the only way with how the system is. They actually do perform better, can't say they will live a long life but works for years when they're young
Also, Carmy was brutal at the end but he was right. Running a restaurant is a 24/7 job. You can't have distractions like that. I've seen entire families fall apart when it's a family run business. Cicero warned him and he was right. Carmy even knew it, hence giving the fake number to her. That's why he blames himself so much because he allowed it.
When I used to be a cook, my manager would sneak off when it got slow & do a bump in the bathroom. Dude would came back ready for anything 😂
Yes, drugs and restaurants go hand in hand
@@JohnGundy prep would be done in half the time 😂
i dont think carmy choosing to date clare lead to this outcome, or that any relationship would.
Season 3 and 4 are being filmed in Chicago concurrently. Great ride Team Roshi. Thank you.
Gets me too!
Roshi saying he'd kill Carmy off this episode cuz he's in the fridge 😭 must not be that cold ig
19:40 That’s the type of comment I’d say was too far in the moment but laugh about three hours later.
That was funny af! 😂
FR, I am still crying and they did not hear her at all
Sheera out of pocket moments
I got so angry when donna told pete that she needs to hear him say its okay, like, dont put that shit on me?
Dang we got tears!! Chocolate banana is the best part of the entire show in my opinion
Donna is his mom lol, y'all talked through hella of this ; __ ;
Sheera and Lupa stay talking though important parts lol
Excited to see you react to season 3. And surprise, season 4 as well! Apparently they decided to shoot back to back seasons at the moment hence people are aware of season 4, it just hasn’t been officially announced yet.
by far one of the best finales to a season I've seen on television.
If by some chance this show has Carmy having kids then they gotta have an episode called "Cubs"
Yooooo, STAHP😭 That would be so amazing
Not sure if Syd made it out without an L. The meds, throwing up, and her mother…
Now we wait for season 3
They succeeded WITHOUT Carmy, and that’s going to be a very big problem next season
That’s typical for a restaurant; chaos in the kitchen so it’s smooth out front
Someone should of mute Sheera when the Mom was talking to Pete lmao
Unreal episode again! The way they shot it between front and back of house is just amazing
Fun fact: if you took a shot every single time one of the chefs at the party says the word “like”, you will die of alcohol poisoning 1/4th of the way through the episode
"I love them so much and I don't know how to show it." I know all parents have thought that at some point in their lives. Lord knows I have 😢
i'm probably gonna sound like an ass, but honestly, i didn't really care for claire that much. she was such a nothing character that the writers tried so hard to make us like by literally having other charaters keep repeating how awesome she is. she lacked the depth other female characters have and was written like some sort of male fantasy to the point that i would genuinely 100% believe if it turned out that she was just in carmy's imagination. and i won't deny that she helped carmy get out of his comfort zone and challenged his unhealthy worldview, but other than that? i just couldn't bring myself to care about their relationship and i would be lying if i said i wasn't kind of glad when the breakup happened.
it was all just so out of nowhere. there was no mention of her before (i don't think), but then suddenly this perfect, quirky girl appears who's kind of lowkey obsessed with carmy (i'm sorry you cannot tell me that the phone number thing wasn't weird if not creepy) and apparently everyone in the cast knows her and is just in love with her. it just didn't feel genuine, or earned, is what i'm trying to say.
But I feel like we're supposed to feel this uncomfortable? The same with how everyone in Carmys life is shoving down his throat that she's perfect for him, we're in Carmy's shoes.
Pete and Ritchie are the best guys in the show, and Carmen is a broken man.
something IS going to happen between SID and CARMY
no
i hope not. she deserves better
@@f1mbultyryes
carmy the bear had to hibernate to realize how much self-sabotaging he does
You can’t just tell a man with issues like carmy to chill out. You guys just don’t understand him and it’s easy to say chill the f out when you’re not the one having a panic attack. Especially getting stuck in an enclosed space like that
Well that's what he gotta do he's an adult running a business he should've checked himself into a psych ward instead of taking on more work while hallucinating, dissociating and having panic attacks all the time
@@tonystonem9614 do you really think people with anxiety or issues just gets up one day and openly admits they need to go to a psych ward? You must be living fantasy world bro 😂 it takes them time
@@Arctis326 takes too much time
yeah, between the madness and chaos of his family and everything he has been through in the restaurant industry, he is a broken man. He's "gained" so much but doesn't have what he needs. Also, he's gained so much but at the cost of so many other things, sacrifices have to be made sometimes but his mental health is just gone if nothing else. He literally said he doesn't deserve happiness essentially.
@@tonystonem9614 Do you live under a rock? Real life doesn't work like that, take it from a guy that has a bipolar, narcissistic sister.
Love the one take they had in this episode
Went on the binge with y'all all day.......on to Season 3!!
this was my favorite episode of this season. the details for everyones growths or downfalls were so real
19:40 yeaaahhhh? 😂😂😂
The chocolate banana relates to the 6th episode of the 2nd season ( fishes) and during dinner, Richie overhears him reminiscing a memory of going to a chocolate banana stand with his father (now deceased)
Donna is the mom. Obvi! Why on earth would they bring up some random ex of his Shura and Lupa? Make it make sense.
And now….y’all are waiting like the rest of us for S3 😅! Your reactions & commentary have been fire all the way, good times.
(When Roshi called out the Fridge Guy before the reaction even started…mannnn…)
Bro its been weeks since ive seen this episode myself and i still got teary eyed when donna found out sugar was pregnant, shit HURT
Hey, it’s me again just wanna say your videos are so great. I’ve been watching up for three years and you guys are amazing.🎉
u guys are defo my fav reaction channel but damn it is so frustrating when u completely misunerstand something like Donna is Carmy's mothers name thats why he got so mad
"well that's one thing him and Syd can relate on"
Sheera's a savage lmao
This finale was tragic. The French brigade had a successful opening yet Carmy lost sight of everything after being locked in the fridge. Carmy’s ego will be their downfall in season 3. This show is magnificent!
19:40 so unhinged 😭😭
Carmy is self destructing like his mom. I really hope he pulls it together before it all comes crashing down.
When did Carmy have an ex named Donna 😂😂? Also filming season 3 and season 4 back to back!
Back to back!? Nice🙏🏽✨️
Damn yall missed a lot this episode 😂
THE BEEEEAAAARRR AAAHHHH
Did i misunderstand why Cid was puking?
My thought was that she just realized that the ticket machine was still printing orders the whole time but the paper ran empty so nobody noticed the orders that were still coming in
I do believe you misunderstood. This was just a test run for the team, the fact they STILL had orders coming is a great sign actually, but nothing of major concern I don't think. I think the stress from the past 3 months just finnaly caught up and she was able to "release it"😅
No offense but sheera be saying shit with her whole chest sometimes and be dead wrong. Donna is carm's mom. Ex?
Richie shouldn't have even mentioned Donna, from what I saw he started that argument, not justifying what Carmy said tho. I NEED S3 now man, the ending broke me a little.
Bro the way I cringed when he called him Donna 😩 I was like nooooo…. Worse thing Richie coulda said because it’s TRUE, he be going crazy just like his momma
@@adrianTurbogocrazyit wasn’t true at all tho! Comparing Carmy to his mother is insane! He has literally helped, supported and elevated everyone around him.
@@Ambereigh it’s like 40% true. Carmy’s ability to wreak havoc and chaos in the kitchen is very Donna-esque. He has a toxic way of communicating and is a control freak just like her. I’m not saying he’s a bad person, clearly he’s mentally unwell, and under a lot of stress, but again so was his mom. At his worst he’s a culmination of her and the other toxic relationships he’s had in the kitchen like w his prior boss. But that’s the thing about abuse, it looks different on different ppl. With his mom/boss it was more in your face and consistent, w Carmy it’s when he can’t repress his feelings anymore and he just explodes on everyone and throws a tantrum like a big baby, victimizing himself, self flagellating, etc. He need help fr 🤧 I COULD NEVER work with someone like that.
The Bear was the friends we made al... GO TO THERAPY. Carmy you go to therapy. You reading this go to therapy.
Unfortunately, Hulu is cheaper. 😂
Yeah this show is just so fucking amazing! Seriously one of the best shows ever!
damn i wish y'all would've remembered the chocolate banana and Donna being his mom's name. that reaction would've been so much more impactful. this season 3 in june though is about to go CRAZYYYYY
It's heartbreaking how Carmy can be kind to everyone else, but can't be kind to himself.
Just when we all thot evrything gonna be fine they put Carmy in the Fridge and let the Chaos happen
Can’t wait for the new season!
19:39 Jesus Christ
Orgin story of how Carmen becomes Subzero in season 3 plot twist lol
Carmie definitely went too far but Ritchie knows his family situation very well. He shouldn't have called him Donna. That was so out of line.
