    Thank you for explaining everything. I’m older and alone and can’t afford a plumber for all the little things that need to be done. This was one of them.
    God bless…🙏🏻👍🙏🏻

    Hey thanks for the video, so many people want the spigot replaced instead of maintained. Glad to know how to maintain my/ my neighbor's properties more. Thank you.

    Out of curiosity, with those rubber washers being so cheap, why wouldn't you just replace them both? Preventive maintenance, not reactive maintenance. Still a good video because a lot of people wouldn't know what to do in this situation.

    Nice job. Most plumbers would sell the customer a whole new hose bib.😀

    Nice explanation. I'm about to do this to my outdoor faucets on my 1966 house. The faucets look original and I'm assuming the washers might have been replaced once (can't imagine they lasted 54 years). I'm hoping the new washers will last another 30 years.

    Great job explaining...few people know what an easy fix it is, just need the step by step. Well done - I'm not a plumber, but have fixed quite a few!

      Only problem is a faucet NEVER comes apart this easily.

      @@dncndan1 - that is true!! One must accept that Nothing works as easily as it appears in a youtube video - but the steps and the process and the right tools are what you need to get it done

    He used a wrench to turn off on water. I was told it would cost almost $100 to buy a water key. After seeing this video i dont need a water key to shut off my water in an emergency.

    • @leeb.7188
      @leeb.7188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not $100. I paid about $40 - $50 at the orange box store. It depends on far the turn-valve is from street level. Mine is about three feet down so I can’t reach it with a wrench and had to buy the water key. In the far north, they can be four feet below ground, due to the frost line. This guy sounds like he’s in the South, so they’re not buried very deep and he can easily reach it with a hand tool.

    • @sawdust466
      @sawdust466 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how hard the valve is to turn… Sometimes a crescent wrench will not do it…

    • @basichomerepair6813
      @basichomerepair6813  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe a local hardware store if one is available. If not, replacing the entire faucet is a bigger issue.

    • @basichomerepair6813
      @basichomerepair6813  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The water shutoff valve was for the entire house. When the valve is closed there is no water to anything in the house.
