These devs have mastered a niche yet strangely lucrative business model of making first person shooter game based off of 80s movies and it’s strange to see them be so successful.
They did a piss-poor job with their first game Rambo from 2014 but they've really done a good job evolving and strengthening their craft since then. It's the fate I wish for any and every developer that struggles with making something decent at-first.
This is what people mean when they say they want lower budget games... if that AAA crash is really happening, this type of game will thrive, which I'm ok with. Really feels like the devs had fun, even if it's not the best ever
That crash is going to happen. The bloat is getting severe and games like Baldurs Gate 3 are showing the executives that most gamers are losing interest in modern live service schlock (they lost interest years ago but BG3 is the kind of game that made higher ups take notice). I think we are going to start seeing larger game publishers take some risks again. Maybe EA will let Bioware do something that isn't a live service nightmare and maybe Microsoft will start using some of the smaller IP's that they now own. Maybe they will finally let Rare make another game that isn't that pirate game. Maybe Activision and Ubisoft will release something that's not dog shit.

I was sold on this game already, but the Rare/Datadyne comparison sold me even more. The Bullet time and grey office environments give me major FEAR vibes, too.
Perfect Dark was great. Puts many modern games to shame with the amount of content Rare put into 1 N64 cartridge. Hoping Microsoft doesn't butcher the reboot like they've done Halo.
Reminder: There's a PC port of Perfect Dark, and it's got some early netplay multiplayer implemented recently. It's pretty good. Marginally less janky than 1964 GEPD, and it's getting better slowly but surely. *Must legitimately own a legally dumped copy of Perfect Dark for the N64 game console but be too cheap to buy a cartridge dumper and also own an incredibly specific version of the game because these console game PC decompiles always do this*
RoboCop rogue City is such a Good God damn impressive masterpiece, This game was very fateful to the original movies from the '80s and they absolutely nailed it!
I loved this game. I feel like the gangster writing and vocal performance serves valuable utility beyond being 'Milhouse Funny'. The enemies are Dumb. Dumb enough to get in a shootout with Robocop that they obviously wouldn't win. Imagine if the enemies were written to be competent and reasonable like in a conventional video game, the illusion of this universe wouldn't hold.

I'm glad you added that little part about being able to both use controller and mouse for the steam deck, the track pad mouse is a godsend for fps games and it's really frustrating when that feature doesn't work properly, especially in older games
9:19 - Weird. I played through the whole game on PC right around when it was released, after the very first patch, and I never encountered this bug on PC. Though the only time I really used full auto was one of the last PCBs were it is paired with the auto loader so perhaps the bug is PCB specific. Actually I'm surprised how many bugs you encountered. I encountered some but not this many. The big issues I found was that it appears the game was rendering the lighting very extremely in that things would go from well lit to the darkest pits of hell. Like the front of the police station is pitch black. I played it on Windows 10 on a GPDWIN4. The first model, with the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U with integrated graphics. The one thing I did encounter were crashes when loading cinematics, but that seems to have some relation to graphics settings though the behavior was inconsistent.
I only encountered three specific bugs: Corpses talking after they die, Auto-saves disappearing when exiting the game (happened twice), and the game running at 5fps when launching for the first time, which, was fixed by changing the frame rate from Unlimited to 60. Overall, a fantastic freaking game and I can't wait to see what they come up with next (hope it is an Aliens game with marines).

Nerrel have you played kid icarus uprising? I was rewatching the star fox zero video recently and thought the control scheme and similarity to sin and punishment would be interesting to you
It's good to see the developers have improved in some areas and leaned into their strengths. While others have their own wishlist for adaptations, I'd really like to see them create their own original title.
I bought this game at launch and I can honestly say your review made me realize how lucky my play through was. Encountered no bugs beyond the janky animations and occasional load in.

Or maybe funny time zone dilation, because the internet thinks you've moved to Xen when you've simply went to an adjacent state for a month visiting family and thinks you're 10 billion hours ahead.
Mostly through the story by now, and yes with all the bugs and spaztic mishaps (also accidentally combined two pistol boards which gave me infinite ammo AND full auto pretty early on for a time). I actually came to care for some of the NPCs and the city itself. My Libertarian mind definitely influenced my choices and i was fascinated how an election was influenced by my indifference. With all its quirky flaws. Robocop Rogue City has to be one of the best original games based on a film series ever made. I’d put it up there with Shadow of Mordor as far as overall enjoy-ability that adds to the film universe with full respect and care. I’d recommend it to anybody.
Burger King... I think. I don't know. I think so though. And because of this, I think it's kind of unacceptable that Robocop doesn't have a burger king. Alright, let me get this off my chest - what in the world were the developers of the Robocop video game thinking when they decided NOT to include a Burger King in the game? I mean, come on! We're talking about a franchise that practically screams fast food tie-ins, and they completely missed the golden opportunity to have Robocop chow down on a Whopper between intense crime-fighting missions. Picture this: Robocop, the ultimate crime-fighting machine, taking a break from cleaning up the mean streets of Detroit to enjoy a flame-grilled burger at a Burger King. It's a match made in cybernetic heaven! But no, the game developers decided to deprive us of this glorious moment. What a missed chance for some epic product placement synergy. I can already imagine the tagline: "Even the toughest crime-fighter needs a break - refuel with a Burger King Whopper!" It practically writes itself. Instead, we get a game that focuses on shooting bad guys and saving the city without even a mention of one of the most iconic fast-food chains. It's not just about the missed marketing opportunity; it's about the lack of realism. I mean, would you believe that a futuristic, crime-ridden Detroit wouldn't have a single Burger King? I don't buy it. It's a travesty, a betrayal of our expectations as gamers and fast-food enthusiasts. So here's to hoping that in future Robocop games, they wise up and recognize the importance of integrating a Burger King into the gameplay. Because until then, I'll be sitting here, dreaming of a world where Robocop can enjoy a delicious Whopper while taking down criminals. It's the crossover we deserve but didn't get. Shame on you, Robocop game developers. Shame.
Your playthrough was rough. I didn't have a single crash or floating motorcycle, lol. The worst bugs I encountered were audio drops, and Becker fell through the floor once. From what I've been able to deduce from the steam forums, if you're using anything above or below a 3060, it's gonna run like shit.
Hey nerrel, i know that the muramasa review was a long time ago and almost nobody cares about it, but since you seem to have nitpicks on the metroidvania side, i recomend you to try "Dust an elysian tale" because i feel is like the reimagined "furry version" of muramasa but with better and diverse locations as maps and combat as well You could try to add it on the metroidvania series review! (I feel like is going to be miss by him but for anyone there, take it, its a good game)
The switching prompts makes me wish for an "I know what im doing button" that lets me lock the promts to whatever I want like in warframe and let me aim by kicking the controller across the room
Holy shit I just realized what this game reminds me of. The Darkness. The cheesy acting, the meandering sidequests, the city hub, the slow walking speed, it's all there.
I never encountered any of these glitches except the dialogue overlapping and the t-posing but I also did not play this when it had just launched i waited for a few patches. never even had a single crash on fullscreen either

Shame.
borgar
Found the Burget King rep. Maybe next time! 😂
the second aliens has some corny scenes but its still mostly serious and im not sure how these devs would handle it. still worth a shot i suppose
I was just watching your Terminator video last night and wondering when you'd get to this one.
oh look it's the iconic robotic police of detroit from the futuristic year of 2019, he's the best
i want these guys to make a vampire the masquerade game .. it’s uncanny how much this reminded me of bloodlines
*Finally, a GOOD Robert Cop game*
Let the good 80s movie videogame renaissance begin.
Hey nerrel, i know that the muramasa review was a long time ago and almost nobody cares about it, but since you seem to have nitpicks on the metroidvania side, i recomend you to try "Dust an elysian tale" because i feel is like the reimagined "furry version" of muramasa but with better and diverse locations as maps and combat as well
You could try to add it on the metroidvania series review! (I feel like is going to be miss by him but for anyone there, take it, its a good game)
I gave a like to this comment so hopefully it gets boosted.
@@dalgusmaximus4557 i didn't expect it...thanks, really thanks
Oh, I didn't know the hired Trey Parker and Matt Stone to do the random goons in this game. Now I HAVE to play
i feel like that joke at the end was made just for me! LOL 😍
The switching prompts makes me wish for an "I know what im doing button" that lets me lock the promts to whatever I want like in warframe and let me aim by kicking the controller across the room
❗️I've seen glitches like this at 10:34 in 'Crysis 1' and 'Sniper Elite 4'.
Would you be interested in reviewing Godzilla Minus One for your next TLWGAS?
Now we just need them to make a robocop vs terminator game
Next we need a RoboCop immersive sim
Imagine a game based on "THE THING" with multi-player modes. Masterpiece.
So a more r rated Among Us?
You go, groovy little algorithm!
