And then you realise no matter where you are, the same soul destroying chores apply. Find/buy/build shelter, keep warm, stay fed, watered, healthy, fulfill happiness, trade time for money, hard work, hard work, hard work
The same prison. Until the people realize that they are the bricks building the prison, they will enjoy slavery sweetened with cheap prices and less taxes. Until taxes and prices are back to unbearable levels and people once again fail to pay tax for living and breathing. Maybe then...
Your videos have really helped, once I have my undergrad degree I'm planning to get out of the UK and make the move to Asia. Already in the process of looking at a masters in Japan, speaking to professors, looking at what I need to do and everything so far is on track. Keep doing what you're doing!
Okay, real advice. If you are from the UK, it will be expensive being an international masters student in Japan. I know, I did it. Very hard to get scholarships being from UK even with perfect grades (I know, I had them). Also, salaries are terrible here. I literally just received a job offer from a famous university in Tokyo as a full-time lecturer. experience + MA = 4,200,000 (JPY) (inc. bonuses) = £22,000 (GBP)... experience + PhD = 5,000,000 (JPY) = £25,000 The grass isn't always greener. However, I would say coming here to study will be an amazing life experience. Just be careful when you consider what you want to do next
The rent should be nearly 350GBP depending upon the location and the size of the apartment. Add food and utilities 200GBP per month. So £20k savings is enough to last upto 3 years.
It's very upsetting that people are at the stage now where they feel that the only option available to them is to leave the country they called home: where they were raised by a loving family, who also knocked their pan in to give the best to us that they could. Best of luck to all of you who manage to get out and find new meaning and happiness in your life, and also the best of luck to you all who are staying behind. I'm so sad that Scotland is just getting worse for all of you, and that it is becoming unliveable. Never in my wildest dreams had I ever imagined that this would happen to the most beautiful country in the world. It is literally giving me depression and creating a black hole of grief: how the hell do we come back from what has happened to us? I left Scotland for Japan almost 14 years ago now, not because I hated living in my country, but just because... I just wanted to live in Japan. I had honestly thought that I would one day move back there with my family, but now that is looking more and more unlikely as time goes on. It is really hard to put into words how awful all of this is.

But for an adventurous younger person who can work 'from home' it's a fantastic opportunity to do the same as in UK while growing as a person. It catches the eye of future employers when they return to Britain too
Dear Daryl, I’m writing you as a person being under typical state financial pressure as others at this planet under current stage of its social development. I would say this kind of degradation has origine in early 90th and particularly after collapse of Soviet Union. I associate this not cause I’m Russian and I’m proud of it. But in 20th century Soviet Unit was first successful social state at this planet. Social achievements of USSR like free education, free medicine, 41 hours working week, women rights and etc persuade «business owners» at the West to do the same. This in fact was not an act of humanism that was stabilization of social structure (forming middle class) to avoid human unrest. USSR as a center of social movements was some kind of virtual basement for labour unions in UK, US and western countries in general. After collapse of USSR in 1991 this labour union’s base disappeared as a world center of fighting for worker’s rights. Today there is no serious social state in this world, this world degraded both in social and diversity aspects. And since second half of 90th “workers” starts to lose their positions in strife with “business owners” cause if it is possible to decrease expenditures on social matter this would result in grows of profit. In its turn profit is vital for any business, cause sooner or later corporation with higher profits will consume smaller business. This force all the business to run faster to “outrun own shadow”. Basically, I wanna say that you hardly find any place in the world where local system doesn’t treat you as a harnessed horse. It could take you unaware about the real deal for some time during harnessing. You know the Newton laws are in force everywhere as well as Economical and Social laws are unstoppable. I like what one guy which is in fact younger us said that main success for the last couple of thousand years sounds like “health, family and friends” and “take care of the one you love and who loves you”. P.S. Just in case sorry for my English, I hope MSWord did its job.
You are lier since millions died from hunger and repressions in USSR, and people were not allowed to leave this "heaven". The irony is that ussr was driven by left politicians, and now same left politicians make western countries worse. And nothing is free in this world, soviet people were underpayed significantly, for example - to buy shoes you would have to save 2 monthes salaries, TV ~ 6 months salaries
Man, you made my day. Advertising a slave state with a resource-based economy as a worker’s paradise, that’s something straight out of a commie propaganda booklet. I’m just curious: Do you know that all the social benefits you credit SU for existed in several European countries already in 1930’s? That SU only adopted them after WWII? That the other Socialist Paradise, China, does not have free healthcare and pensions in 2024? Or that SU was the first country in the world to emancipate women and legalize homosexuality? The rampant leftism that’s now reigning in the West was first tried in Russia in 1920's…

@@NamwakaHadassahTambatamba yes man, and no regrets at all. People are happier in Africa, and they have less.
I was born and bred in England but I gave up on the UK and permanently left in 2007, glad I did. I haven't been back since.
Good luck mate 👍🏼
I left in November 1996 - the writing was on the wall even then in terms of rising liberalism and disastrous long-term trends. Been in the Far East ever since and never regretted it.
What made you leave? I was 14 in 2007 and lived in Cornwall. Everything seemed great back then.

I moved to South Florida so it was kind of a no brainer to be honest.

Daryl, it's great to see you smiling and looking relaxed and happy. As you say, "You have to love yourself". Nobody will sort out your future for you. May your dreams come to fruition. [Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺]
But what profession do you have to maintain yourself financially

And then you realise no matter where you are, the same soul destroying chores apply. Find/buy/build shelter, keep warm, stay fed, watered, healthy, fulfill happiness, trade time for money, hard work, hard work, hard work
But in those other places you maybe don't get taxed as hard and prices are not so high.
Hard work is not that bad if you actually get to keep most of the rewards
The problem in the uk is that hard work BARELY covers the basics

I literally just received a job offer from a famous university in Tokyo as a full-time lecturer.
experience + MA = 4,200,000 (JPY) (inc. bonuses) = £22,000 (GBP)...
experience + PhD = 5,000,000 (JPY) = £25,000
The grass isn't always greener.
However, I would say coming here to study will be an amazing life experience. Just be careful when you consider what you want to do next
Well done, man. I also just booked my flight back to Hong Kong last evening.
Hong Kong with the lowest taxation! Enjoy!
The rent should be nearly 350GBP depending upon the location and the size of the apartment. Add food and utilities 200GBP per month. So £20k savings is enough to last upto 3 years.
How though? Surely 3 months is the maximum stay visa etc?

I've been living in KL since 2012. Lived in Scotland for years before this move. No regrets about leaving. Best of luck with everything!
Would you mind saying what you do for work and how easy/difficult it was to get a job?!
Well done Sir! I left 54 years ago. Living now for 41 years in Namibia. Would never consider returning to the UK.
HOW did you do this? In terms of visa, work permit etc? What are you doing for money?
So, you're travelling then?

What country will you be living in once you have ended your holiday? Why didn't you want to talk about it in this video? Tell us listeners how you plan to live sustainably as a former bank teller.
Yes I think UK is broken. Too many arguments and conflicts. Maybe I should move back to HK, life's tough there too but weathers much warmer❤
this is seriously motivating - thanks for posting.
You can half your cost in Kota Kemuning , Subang Jaya , Seremban (on the to Port Dickson) , Melaka and home cater "tumpang makan" and the market comes to you in the pasar malam and wet market grocer is the van making a din along your road. May not be for you , but an elderly guy or another who wants to go local. Welcome to Malaysia.
Good for you mate. You should be proud of yourself. Interested to know how you are earning money there and exactly how long you are staying
we need him to do a video breaking everything down financially and we need to hear the bad side. walking around in a pool is showing us a fraction of the true reality of his situation, i am really happy for him though, he did walk the walk like he said he would, respect.
I'm part Malaysian and yes there is a bad side, and costs are rising as the country develops. But for an adventurous younger person who can work 'from home' it's a fantastic opportunity to do the same as in UK while growing as a person. It catches the eye of future employers when they return to Britain too
Well done you! I totally agree - you will meet so many like-minded motivated people. For me it’s next year - plans in process.
P.S. Just in case sorry for my English, I hope MSWord did its job.
a bit long, but makes you think. I'll probably come back with an answer...
Just look at those apartments, a pool, gardens, a gym, reception and security. . Then look at UK apartments.. You just get apartments.. that's it.
Irony is that you dont even get an apartment despite paying a big chunk out of your income. Its a box size space with thin walls and zero comfort

Good video. Same situation here in the US, the decline is all around us. Most of us can't afford basic apartments anymore, unless we spend all our time working multiple jobs. Homeless and drug zombies everywhere, it's pretty bleak. High costs for everything but zero quality of life. I'll be teaching at a winter English camp in Singapore in late December, then a few months of traveling and living in SE Asia. Can't wait! It's the goal to stay there for the long haul as well.
