    I lived in northern England for a couple of years as a kid. It was a HUGE shock to move somewhere where everyone is miserable and grumpy. Even the kids are!
    It is an absolute hole! And they don’t even know how bad it is.

      I was born and raised there.
      Though I do think the “everyone is miserable” comment is a little unfair…
      Better than in London were you get walked over by the impatient pushy upper middle classes who don’t give anyone the time of day or shanked by some angry immigrant.
      Though again the second part of my comment is also true for the north of England these days as well.
      And then to be completely honest… I didn’t leave the whole country so 🤷‍♂️ hahaha 😂

      It's not just the high taxes, that in itself wouldn't be so bad if the govt. spent it wisely. What's worse is the way they nickel n dime you on everything, like congestion charges, traffic tickets, exorbitant insurance rates, VAT, you name it.

    I'm from West London born and raised i now live in Dallas Texas USA the quality of my life has substantially increased. When I go back I do go to Waitrose and marks & Spencer's. I can only live in West London shepherd's bush Notting Hill Hammersmith and it's only the rich people can afford Central London. London taught me how to be Street wise and a Christian if you believe in God you will provide for you no matter where you live

    I left 18 years ago, you go through a honeymoon phase for the first few years away. I'm going back next year to spend time with the parents who are now old. I'd say definitely leave if you can save money but don;t forget to pay your national insurance stamp if you want a pension in the future.
    Not sure I would want to live in a phony environment like UAE though, I moved to SE Asia, I don't pay any tax here either,cost of living has gone up a lot here but still cheap.

    I work in finance and get shafted by the UK tax system. I'm realising now that being a business owner means more freedom, but even as a worker, I'm sure I would be better off moving to Dubai. But I know very little of that market and how I could do that.

      I'm a pom living in NZ and have been back to UK last 2 years running and would say overall the cost of living is very similar, it's the quality of life that's so much better in NZ.

      What you planning to do out in Dubai? My property business is smashing it in the UK and I know the market well. (Making approx 300k a year profit). I wouldn't know where to start in Dubai. I do love to holiday there though, absolutely amazing.

    Best thing I ever did was leave UK 12 years ago. Have never regretted it. 100% agree with everything this Tuomas said. People said I had balls at the time - not true - what takes real balls is staying and having to deal with the increasingly worse situation that develops there. However Brits have to take responsibility for this stuff - this all happened on your watch. You sat by and just watched your country turn to shi! and did nothing. Please don't move anywhere else and now and bring this crappy attitude with you. You will not be welcome. You made your bed, now lie in it. You should now get off your arse and save your country. That's the only way you'll learn. Make Britain Great Again.

      If you have the skills, get yourself a job in the holy grail of expats, Singapore. I left silicon valley CA to live in Singapore and it changed my life for better and forever. I'm retired now and still living there. I won't, willingly live anywhere else.

    I am also wealthier since I can save some more money. Someone was killed in front of my house it was all over the news in London and that was my sign to leave. London was good 2015-2019 then it went to hell.

      @@duchelina Sorry I didn't mean anything against Europeans, I had Romanian, Portuguese and Polish neighbors , all lovely. What I meant was by opening to the EU it allowed Africans and Islamic people to scam their way easily into the UK using things such as eea family permits. My old neighbor was Nigerian and a total ass hole, he got in by marrying a Polish woman for cash and then using eea family permit to get to uk. Hope things work out better for you . I'm moving to Australia, got my permanent residency last year using my NHS nurse experience.

    Air quality in Britain is generally very good, in Dubai extremely poor. I don't like hot countries at all. Also consider the high risk of skin cancer in those places. I'd prefer the cool climate of Britain.

    You are such a selfish person, I am Dutch and we pay a lot of taxes, but i dont mind, because we have a good safety net, good infra structure and public transport, we can see what the Dutch government does with the taxes. I am happy to see that we dont have so many people homeless, people with a low salary will receive rent subsidy.
    If you have a good salary and pay high taxes, you have to think about the people that needed help. And perhaps do you also need help.

I believe that African parents are responsible for their children, every time a war breaks out between races in an African country, so they can't work and food their own children, i dont want to pay for that, if their children are dying, it is their responsebility not of the Western country's. It does not work to give money every time again.

    Feel sorry 😢 for people like me who are dumb why am i dumb? Because at school in the late 90s early 00s all i did at school waa fight , We in my class never learned as the teacher never tried 😢 , I have had many jobs but all manual labour or retail roles like supermarket work , I am fortunate my maths are good enough to get by as i do try to learn in my spare time but what country will take in someone like me?
