Long story short George Lucas eventually realized he was writing the middle of a story. A new hope was originally just named "Star Wars" until it blew up. So the og trilogy became the story of Luke. The prequel is the story of Anakin. Lucas did have an idea for the sequel trilogy but it was discarded when Disney bought the rights. The sequel trilogy by disney is now the story of Rey. The shortest way to describe the sequel trilogy by Disney is they had no big story outline for some reason and they brought in different directors with wildly different ideas and goals which created a tonally inconsistent story with a confusing and messy plot. I tried to keep this shortish and spoiler free.

@@ataridc From what I heard he regularly visited the sets, gave advices and answered questions the directors had. Kershner was obviously more experienced and was one of Lucas' mentor but he always respected George's vision and wanted to do it justice. I think Marquand tried to make some changes by his own liking which Lucas didn't appreciate (but don't quote me on that) so he spent more time looking over Marquand's shoulders. During the Emperor's throne room scenes he was there the whole time, if I remember correctly.

I was 9 when Star Wars came out, and believe me, it was life altering. The visuals, sound were like nothing ever done before. There's an episode of that 70s show where they show Kelsos face as he watches Star Wars and they definitely captured the emotion and astonishment on his face. That was what it was like.

I was 13 years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. I was 16 years old in 1980 when i saw Episode V The Empire Strikes Back in the Movie theatre. The Special effects were ahead of its time. The audience was shocked and Gasped when Darth Vader told Luke who he was. The scene where Han Solo tells Princess Leia I know after she tells him she Loves him was improvised. Originally, he was supposed to say he loved her back, Harrison Ford said take after take he said I love you, but it didn't work. One take he goes I know and said Han Solo would say that. He told the Producer and George Lucas, and they agreed to keep the I Know.
Abby Jane originally Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope was just called Star Wars. George Lucas did not know if he would be able to make more Star Wars Movies. When Episode V The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980 then they had to add Episode IV to the first movie. George Lucas started with the first Movie of his second Trilogy. That is why He released it in the order of IV V and VI. then the Prequels Episodes I and II and III.

Fun fact of why Luke was attacked at the beginning of the movie... Mark Hamill had a car accident before they started filming this movie, so he had surgery on his face, and since he didn't look the same as A New Hope, they added that first scene in which his face got ripped off by the Wampa (Yeti as you call him).

    1. Han to Chewy, "Laugh it ups fuzzball"
    2. The scene in the cave is Luke seeing into his future if he were to turn to the dark side.
    3. Do them in the original release. They were put that way for a reason. Jumping ahead ruins it for you and us.
    4. IRL Ford and Fisher were having an affair. She was only 19 and he was much older and married. She put it in her biography before she died. She got an ok from him to put it in there.
    5. Hans', "I know" was ad lib because Ford thought it was what Solo would say, and required a new script to be written in the next movie.
    6. Ford wanted Solo to die.
    7. You will learn more about the emperor and Darth Vader in episodes I, II and III.
    8. The next one wraps everything up and IMVHO is the best of the original VI Lucas episodes.

The reason for the series starting with Episode 4, derives from George Lucas’ original vision of recreating the experience he had as a child in watching the old adventure serials in the 1940s and 50s. Short (30 minute) episodic films like starring characters like Flash Gordon, The Phantom, The Shadow and many others were shown weekly as Saturday matinees at local movie theaters. They were usually 12 part stories with each chapter ending in a cliff hanger, with the apparent death of the hero. Lucas sought to recreate the feeling of joining the series in the middle of the tale.
Lucas never expected any remotely like the reaction the film got and didn’t really think there would be more than the 1st film.

I was 13 when a new hope came out. But just knew that is Star Wars cause that was the only Star Wars movie. And at the time the movies were not numbered. After the first three original films, it took a long time for the first prequel to come out. Once they came out, all of the movies were numbered. Jar Jar Binks doesn’t happen until the prequels. Knowing Darth Vader is Anakin was not known until the prequels either.
Star wars, adjacent movies to watch would be the Mandalorian and Ashoka and the clone wars animated. All of these are series and very interesting.

22:37 George Lucas Star Wars creator said that the main fight in this movie was within the character of Vader, since there was small part of Anakin still alive within the depths of Vader brought about by the realisation that he had children, and Vader’s objective to dominate and sever all connections with his old life as Skywalker!!! so the fight at the end of the movie was actually Luke and Anakin vs Vader!! because as you said “there’s no way Luke should’ve or could’ve put up that much of a fight against fully fledged Sith Lord, but it was Anakin swaying the odds inside Vader helping him, so it was fight of emotional depth

Regarding Luke putting up a better-than-expected fight against Vader: I feel like when you watch their fight again, it's clear Vader is toying with him most of the time. It's only in round three, at the end, where he takes the gloves off and starts trying to beat Luke in earnest. And when Luke manages to land that glancing blow off the shoulder, Vader ends the fight two swings later with the hand being chopped off.

Hi Abby just seen your reaction and it was a lot of fun just wish it was a longer reaction, anyway I saw the OG trilogy at the cinema as a kid and this is my favourite film in the Star Wars franchise, but of the Disney stuff I only really enjoyed Rogue One and the Andor series, talking of Andor that was filmed entirely on locations in England and Scotland, with full size practical sets built, there was very little CGI effects used during the making of it, for me it gave the show that lived in feeling something that I don't get with the volume as Disney calls it, that's the multiple T.V screens you were talking about, anyway my other favourite franchise is the LOTR I don't even mind the Hobbit films either,
Also did I hear you say you enjoy horror films, if so would love to see you react to if you haven't already seen them, the films are, American Werewolf in London 1981, The Thing 1982, Hellraiser 1987, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984, The Lost Boys 1987, there are many more and of course it's your channel so react to what you like, but if you ever decide to add horror films to your reactions these are a good place to start.

Quick clarification on in the cave with Luke and why he failed: he failed simply because he brought the weapon with him. Yoda was trying to teach him the force was to defend himself, but to never attack, because it can lead to aggression, and aggression can lead to the dark path of the dark side and that when he found himself in the Vader face, was that if he had gone to face Vader as he did, it was a warning his actions were taking him down a similar path of Anakin.

One thing you can control, and be distinguished for, is the choice of films to watch. _The Fisher King_ (1991) and _The Wicker Man_ (1973) would indeed be rare and good choices. Also worthy, I think, would be _Theatre of Blood_ (1973), but only if you have any taste for Shakespeare plays, since several are referenced. (One movie to help grow such a taste would be the delicious _Much Ado About Nothing_ (1993)). Best of luck with the channel!

Be careful with the Star Wars fandom. Some people are pretty toxic. It is one of the largest fandoms but all of these properties like Star Wars, Marvel, Lord of the Rings and other fantasy/Sci Fi have fan groups that think they know what is good and what is bad as far as media. They can be a bit rabid in if you like something different from them. We tend to like the media we came in on. That is why some people like different parts of Star Wars over others. Nothing can recreate that initial experience so everything else is horrible and that is not an honest or fair take. Watch and like what you want. I would not pay attention to online groups or people who call themselves "experts" or "real fans". Star Wars is meant for kids that is what Lucas wanted. Just a fun ride for young people to enjoy and older people to remember what it was like to be young.

...I know you are new to this and I am just trying to help here with some opinions...I am sure others will share some of my opinions as well...so I have two points: first please focus more and if you are going to be talking, do it when there is no dialogue going on in the movie...most people will naturally miss a lot of info while they talk even though they won't realize it while they are doing it but to a viewer like me who has seen the movie over and over, we know where the important stuff are and it can be very frustrating to the fan like me to see that happening...second, I have seen literally hundreds of reactions and from what I see, no good reactions are ever under 30 minutes long....so please try to make them at least 35 minutes if you can....making the reaction too short just seem to me like the person does not care enough about the reactions therefor she rushed right through it...most of the time when I see a reaction under 30 minutes I would never even bother to click on it because I just feel like the reactor probably didn't care much for the film or feel any passion for it so I don't care either...I am sure that is not what your intention was but making your reaction under 30 minutes gives off that vibe....your reaction was actually just 20 minutes...anyway, just trying to help you succeed and just letting you know from the viewer point of a viewer...I subbed...good luck!

Thank you for the feedback! I did do a post on my channel but obviously not everyone can see that. The reason it’s so short is copyright essentially, as I’ve had some major problems with TH-cam in the last month and them blocking my videos. The more content you show, the more likely your video gets copyrighted and blocked. If it were up to me all my videos would be over an hour long. I will try to make the next one longer.
