I am so glad you just went for creating this page. I had no idea how lace work was made. Looking at the pattern I feel very intimidated but you have given me the confidence and the guidance to give this a try. Thank you Marion.
Marion, I can't tell you how grateful I am for your channel and its peaceful reassurance after the unspeakable outcome of Tuesday's election over here. It looks as though we are in for very bleak times, and fighting fear and sadness and anger will be a daily task. But we still have music and art and trees and our animals, and hands across the water from friends like you. ❤
@@marionsworld24 it’s just unbelievable. My 90 year old mother says she wants to move to another country. I’m just not sure that the grass is any greener…as they say.
I have several antique pillowcases that my great grandmother made. She must have done lots of these as the back looks as good the front with no knots or traveling threads. I'm not sure if she used pearl cotton or crochet thread but it's not embroidery stranded thread... Her thread is twisted together. 💕🌞🌵😷
It's probably done with fine crochet cotton or fine perle. It's such a skill to see the beauty of the old cutwork pieces. But we can still do that today if we want to...🪡🧵
I agree with you Marion, this is not difficult to do. A friend of mine asked me if I would finish an embroidery for an elderly friend of hers and when I saw it was Cutwork I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it but I persevered and when it was finished I could not tell the difference between the existing work and the sections that I did. I was pleased with it and the lady was thrilled as she could no longer do the work herself.
This is very exciting, thank you for sharing your design with us. I love watching your videos Marion, your gentle nature and clear explanations are a joy to watch.

It depends on how fine a thread you go for. Because I used this thicker thread, and this is only a piece that measures 8" x 10", this didn't take too long... probably a couple of hours stitching once I had drawn my pattern.

Wonderful! Have you ever tried Battenberg lace. I would cherish a tutorial on that lace if you could . You are such an inspiring teacher and you make us believe we can actually do what you do so skillfully! Thank you for your gift of stitching.
I have always wanted to try this technique, I remember a chair back that my grandmother had done and thought it so beautiful. Thank you so much for the video showing how to achieve this. Looking for suitable material to use.
I really enjoy stitching while watching your videos. Marion what beautiful work you made it sound so simple now I will have to try it. Thanks for the inspiration. I have so many books on beautiful lace work & it always looks so complicated. You really explained all the steps so well.
Thank you Maria. I appreciate that so much. I always try and take the fear out of a process because usually things are not so difficult. Once you've got the hang of something, then it's the time to refine your skill and learn more.
Thankyou Marion for this tutorial. I have a tablecloth from a great grandmother and often thought about how it was made and how difficult I thought it must be now after watching you I’m sure I can do this and am looking forward to giving it a go.❤❤😊😊
There's quite a few similar techniques, Richelieu, Broderie Anglaise, Whitework, Carrickmacross. I've just tried to draw out a generic type that you see on old linens...
I am still pondering on how to go about my phenology drawing (starting in January is probably best) and now you’ve got me thinking about cutwork! I love it but it also overwhelms me a bit if I think about how many hours this takes. But i guess that is also where there’s a learning point: I should just take my time with it and enjoy the process. Anyway, thanks for putting all these wonderful ideas in my head and teaching us!💖🍀
I started my wheels in January because I'd been thinking about it for a little while in the run up to Christmas and it seemed like the right moment for me. I also think a birthday year would be lovely to do - going from one birthday to the next.
Wow what a great idea , I have never seen this done before so am really looking forward to watching the videos. Definitely going to give this a try it’s looks interesting. Thanks for sharing the progress with us. Xxx

I hope you enjoy it Lizette
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial--I really want to try cutwork--my Grand-mere used to do this...hugs, julierose🥰
Wonderful! Have you ever tried Battenberg lace. I would cherish a tutorial on that lace if you could . You are such an inspiring teacher and you make us believe we can actually do what you do so skillfully! Thank you for your gift of stitching.
I know what it is but I've never done any of that. I wouldn't mind learning though!
I have always wanted to try this technique, I remember a chair back that my grandmother had done and thought it so beautiful. Thank you so much for the video showing how to achieve this.
Looking for suitable material to use.
Fascinating, Marion. I always wondered how that was done! Can't wait to have a go! Xx
Hi Marion, this looks good and your instructions are easy to follow, I’ll be giving this a go thanks for sharing Hx
What a beautiful technique. Thank you for sharing it with us ❤ xxx
I love all that you do
I really enjoy stitching while watching your videos.
I have a tablecloth from a great grandmother and often thought about how it was made and how difficult I thought it must be now after watching you I’m sure I can do this and am looking forward to giving it a go.❤❤😊😊
You'll definitely be able to Mary. I'm sure of it..
Very interesting. I had a dresser scarf with cut work when I was younger. Now I know how it was done. Thank you!
I enjoyed your instructions and can't wait for the next video. I have liked and subscribed! ❤😊
Thank you. Welcome to my channel 💐
It's lovely! I haven't seen it done in years. I can't wait to do it for myself! Thank you for reminding me . 💕
I think I learned to call it Richelieu. ? Or is that different. Thank you Marion. Great video again. From the Netherlands.
There's quite a few similar techniques, Richelieu, Broderie Anglaise, Whitework, Carrickmacross. I've just tried to draw out a generic type that you see on old linens...
I’m still catching up with all your videos, I can’t wait to give this a try. Roll on retirement 😊
😅
I love all your videos. I think you are amazing. I learn so very much from you. Thank you for all your time and being a great teacher.
Looks like it's going to be so beautiful, Marion. I don't know if I'd try it but I appreciate how simple you make it look 🌷
You can do it too.. I know you could..
Always beautiful work I’m gonna try this one day 😊❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this. I cant wait to see the next video.

Yoooo Hoo! Perfect timing, thank you..... I love your teaching, and down to earth ways! ❤
Thanks Shelley

Xxx
