Excellent video! Questions: 1) Could not having a spare tire be an issue? What's in the tire repair kit? 2) I hear Corolla Cross is in short supply. Do you expect more to be delivered soon? Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words! Certainly, I understand the concern about the lack of a proper spare tire, but many OEMs are turning to inflator kits to cut costs and weight. The kit here comes with a bottle of sealant and a small air compressor. As for supply issues, Toyota has long struggled to get hybrids to dealers in a reasonable time. While I’ve not heard much about this issue being resolved, my suggestion is to shop around, as some dealers may have units on their lots while your local store may not. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
Dan, In your written review of March 10, 2023 you described the stretched wheelbase Corolla Hybrid Wagon sold in Europe as, "One of the best cars I've ever driven." If Toyota stretched the tiny Corolla wheelbase to make that wagon family friendly for our European cousins, why did they not do the same for the Corolla Cross? As things stand, the made in Canada RAV4 Hybrid is a much better option for Canadians who need a decent back seat, a spare tire and more generous tow capacity. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you and all the crazy, mixed up kids at Auto Trader Canada a very merry 🎄🎄 and a happy, healthy new year.🎉🎉🎉🎉
I don't disagree, although the Corolla Cross Hybrid is more efficient than the RAV4 Hybrid, not to mention cheaper. If you don't have more than one passenger on a regular basis, there's lots to like about this smaller crossover! Thanks for all your support and engagement, and happy holidays!
@@danilika9420 Right back at you! Don't forget to ask for your royalty cheque for appearing in the recent Automotive Press video from the LA Auto Show. A little extra cash can go a long way this time of year. 😁😁😁😁
As an owner of a Hyundai Ioniq 5, I can tell you it's a great vehicle and has gotten me over 500 Km per charge (in the summer). This Corolla Cross Hybrid should get you at least 650 Kms per tank. Dealing with Hyundai Canada is a nightmare, dealing with Toyota Canada is not (previous owner of a 2006 Toyota Matrix). I am actively seeking a deal with Toyota to trade in my Ioniq 5 for the Cross Hybrid.
I have a Yaris Cross which has a 36 litre tank. Only have to fill it up once every 6 to 8 weeks city driving. And then, I'm only adding 28-29 litres. Also, have twin grand children, it's not really an issue to load them into the back seat. So, probably even easier in this car.
Sure, they’re different, but Toyota still refers to it as a CVT, which is also what I refer to it as for clarity and simplicity. Besides, they both behave in more or less the same ways. Thanks for watching!
Looking at this very Crossover next year (different color). I'm driving a 2022 Kona and do like the "Star Wars" features of the new Kona, BUT, with AWD, the Kona gets around 26 mpg!!! Of course, their top trim (what I'd get) does have real leather and ventilated seats, but I think I would prefer 42 mpg U.S. over 26 mpg any day. I can live with the cheap plastic interior, as my Kona has it now.
GREAT REVIEW! The 1st time anyone had mentioned the gas tank. Others have mentioned the lack of a spare tire, and that might be the deal breaker for me.
We have a 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and it's wonderful. I'd recommend it to anyone, with the exception of gear heads. But I would hope they wouldn't even be looking at small hybrids, anyway. If you want a smaller SUV that's comfortable, full of tech, reliable and a nice ride, are a 1-2 person family or have a couple kids under the teen years, look no further than this SUV. BTW, our city driving makes up about 60% of our miles as our daily driver and we visit the gas station no more than twice a month.
Thank you for the wonderful content and in depth analysis. What would be your choice between Corolla Cross Hybrid 2025 vs Rav4 Hybrid 2025? Considering Corolla Cross Hybrid may get mid cycle refresh in 2025 and Rav4 seems outdated and may not get next generation model until 2026?
It really depends on what you need your vehicle for! If it was me, I’d probably go with the Corolla Cross Hybrid for its better efficiency and lower price, but if you need space the RAV4 Hybrid is a better option - and it has an incredible track record. If I had to guess, it’ll be years before the Corolla Cross gets any meaningful upgrades/updates, whereas the RAV4 is sort of next in line by traditional model timelines.
@@danilika9420 Thank you for the quick response. If to opt for Corolla Cross Hybrid, Does it make sense to choose XSE over SE? Hybrid Waiting times are another concern!
@@Harsh-20 Shop around and see if dealers outside your local area have cancelled orders, etc. If you’re flexible with trim and colour, all the better! The XSE is certainly more feature rich, but there’s plenty of good stuff in the SE (heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, etc.).

They nailed the design if they were going for boring. I wish it looked like the Buick Envista, paired with the powertrain offered here it would be a definite buy for me.
The Corolla Cross replaced the CHR. We’ll see how it goes. I just purchased one last month, and I can’t complain. I still wish it included a spare like the Corolla Hatchback, which I really wanted but they didn’t have any.
After watching this video I realized the genius of Toyota. Whatever this car lakes there is no competition at all. No subcompact that is AWD and hybrid.
Bought my CCH XSE last December and the first thing I noticed was the small gas tank. In my 2013 Subaru Crosstrek, I was going to the gas station once per week. With my new CCH, I'm still going to the gas station once per week. I really was hoping for better range.
@@miked8121 your 2013 Crosstrek had a 15.9 gallon fuel tank. Your new CCH has a 10.9 gas tank. Even if you are still going once a week, you are saving 1/3 in gas. It doesn't matter in terms of efficiency how many times you go to the gas station what matters is how much fuel you put in and how much distance you cover you are covering the same distance with less fuel.
@@bederhajali I don't dislike the $29 fill-up and I live in SoCal. I'm mid 70 and becoming intolerant in may old age and having to go to the gas station once per week is a real pain in the donkey and a waste of time. The CCH could have been a "home run" had Toyota installed a 16 gallon tank. Imagine a 672 mile range.
@@miked8121 from that perspective that makes a lot of sense. I guess they missed the mark on the number of trips. Same thing happened I believe with the Honda clarity. That one has an even smaller gas tank.
Not impressed. Poor review. Really? Nitpicking on 40L gas tank. In your own word it goes 100Km using less than 6 liter of gas. Which means you can drive more than 600 Km before you will be forced to fill up. What is wrong with that?
The reality is that a non-hybrid subcompact crossover like the Subaru Crosstrek can travel farther between fill-ups, which negates one of the Corolla Cross Hybrid’s main would-be advantages for the average shopper. (The Crosstrek’s tank is 63 L.) I’m sorry that you think it’s a “poor review” because I mentioned the small fuel tank, but it’s my job to point out both the positives and the negatives so shoppers can make informed decisions.
If it does 5.5L/100km on a 40L tank that means it gets around 700km a tank. That's 7+ hours of driving. I don't think you be stopping that much. My RVR has a 52L tank and does around 500km. So I stop more. No reason to add 10L Of weight
40 Liters divided by 5.6 L/100 Km is 714 Km per fill. This is way more than it need. Adding more fuel capacity would increase the weight and reduce the fuel efficiency. Where do you need to drive with this much range?
I rented one of these and it was one of the worst driving experiences of my life. Everything rattles in this car and the powertrain is an absolute joke.
i have a CC with 2.0 gas engine non hybrid. I use extreme driving style (hyper milling and cruise around 80 km/h) to extract the best mileage. So far my best try was 4.167L/100km, which is about 56 MPG. My overall MPG after 8000km of driving is 46.94.( 5.0L/100km) So the M20A FKS coupled with CVT is extremely efficient.
Sure, in a perfect world where the numbers matched up perfectly, it could go a little more than 700 km on a full tank. But then that’s not the reality of the situation, and my experience has been significantly different.
What a clown. One moment he says it gets good gas milage. Then complains the tank is small so the range is short. Says the gas model has a bigger tank. But the hybrid does get so much better combined milage that the range is still about 10% more.
“Clown” here! I commended its fuel efficiency, yes - but that’s independent of how far it can travel on a single tank. (Think of it like a restaurant review; “great meal, tiny portions!”) The simple reality is that the Corolla Cross Hybrid would be better served by the standard version’s 50-litre tank or something close to it. The suggestion isn’t without precedent, either, as the RAV4 Hybrid has a 55-litre tank compared to the conventional model and its 57-litre tank. As it stands, the Subaru Crosstrek can travel significantly farther than the Corolla Cross Hybrid thanks to its much bigger fuel tank (63 litres) - and that’s worth mentioning. Thanks for watching!
