Please only send campaigns on the verge of defeat or battles you can't win. Auto resolve wins won't be accepted. Modded campaigns are not currently accepted. Please only send campaigns/battles on large or ultra unit scale. Normal and small unit scale will not be accepted. Not currently accepting Realm of Chaos campaigns/battles.

Well, when you get ambushed as a chaos faction, it’s all fun. No disadvantage, cuz they’re full aggro, it hardly makes a difference
Well the army stats are worse for 60 seconds.
I once recall getting ambushed playing Wood Elves with a full Wardancer doomstack.
I tossed a coin to choose did I kill the rightside force first or the leftside.

My goodness, I still play warhammer 1, and while using a kholek suneater with dragon ogre shagoths, and 3 hell canons. Those poor empire armies who tried to abush me haha.
This was my unfortunate campaign! I followed your instructions, marched to Xing Po and when I was a turn away Miao Ying had a full stack identical to mine, assaulted and occupied it so he got what was coming!
That kinda sucks that she beat you to it, cuz Xing Po has one of the most useful landmarks you could want

If anyone is watching wondering "what do I do about a very stabby rat?" the answer is Iron Hail Gunners.
My favorite cathay unit
How? His hitbox is tiny, he has a lot of missile resist and if he gets close he rips them to pieces.

@@garrettrachford472 They're shotguns, 3 projectiles each from every gun, at short range they don't miss and they stagger most enemies. Plus his AI is super dedicated to lord sniping now so you can easily move him.
lure him in with a lord or hero and just dance ahead of the iron hail gunners, easy rat swiss cheese
I've learned in pretty much every campaign to rush the Skaven ASAP. Otherwise they just vomit out crap stacks and overwhelm you.
Too late, they've already done it. In my current campaign Snikch had 3.5 stacks on turn 12. Pretty much all skavenslaves, but enough of those slingers can do some work on peasants.

@@AshenVictor I find that baiting them is the best way to deal with that - put a full stack in ambush stance, with a single lone lord behind it. Will absolutely crush them. Can also put the army in ambush stance in front of a city they intend to seige. Also, unticking "control large army" makes it so easy to deal with them, even with a low tier army, since they will be 90% skaven slaves.

There's actually a saying in Cathay that 'if you lost the army but kept the city, then you have already lost them both. If you kept the army but lost the city, you can always take the lost back.'

would love to see you put out some vids labeled "Ultimate tips" for these games. WH 1,2&3. example, things the A.I likes to do, hidden or not so well known mechanics. Remembering strengths and weaknesses of an army, etc

One thing that would be helpful is putting time stamps/chapters in your tutorial-leaning videos. I've been referring a lot to your Warriors of Chaos rework video. It's 40 mins of great info and having those chapters would be some spicy QoL.... or maybe I am just lazy?!

I feel like I played the reverse situation in that same location in my Deathmaster Snikch campaign. It was fun!
Idk why takes so long to hit and kill some single entities now when they are running shattered from the battle. You can see some of your single units stuck right behind the enemies and taking forever to hit them
Cav and monsters have this weird habit of pushing entities around, I've even noticed it with man sized units. I think their AI has issues hitting units who wont stand still, since units don't really run away during battles unless they are broken.

Cathay desperately need like a melee specialist or duelist hero or something. Trying to deal with melee generals with anything other than Zhao or Miao is such a nightmare.
yeah, against grimgor and archaon and the like I feel like theres nothing to do but run your general away while they chew up your troops, hoping that your archers will shoot them at some point.
I always have two Sentinels in each army, once I can get them. Works fine when dealing with enemy melee lords and heroes.
@@matejkalista8044 That does nothing for you against Eshin though, sadly. You sure aren't gonna be able to recruit Terracotta Sentinels by the time Eshin is bashing down your doors because you don't take them out early enough.

ye it's nearly impossible lol. but cathayan melee units perform very good in battle and probably can pin legendary lords down long enough to not make this a huge issue. i expect that we get at least 2 cathayan DLCs and 1 FLC though, so there'll be more for them sooner or later
Warp lightning and the AI knowing instantly whenever I try to cast an AOE spell made me ragequit yesterday

Love those videos, very nice to see explanations and examples on what to do in those bad situations. But I can't help but wonder who sends those in the first place, when it's barely turn 31 and it's quicker to just restart a campaign from scratch than wait for the video. :D
Gotta remember some people don’t rush through their turns so turn 31 could be 2 hours of progress for some people

Wow just saw that you can decide where your reinforcements come in. Never knew that.
I find manually formation-moving to surround SEMs then attacking then from all sides works well. You don't get the charge bonus so the single entity doesn't get knocked over as much
I played an entire queek campaign getting 3 ambush battles in total
and 129 minor settlement sieges
I maxed out my ambush chance on every lord and still for some reason never seen an actual ambush map (these 3 battles were decisive victory autoresolve)
I thought ambush battles are completely broken
glad to see that at least ai has them
There are lots of mods to disable minor settlement battles, since they are so degenerate.

Seeing legend also not be able to dodge warp lightning makes me feel better. That spell is the worst
How to fix warp lightning. Give it more of a visual ground marker and increase it's cast time. Easy fix.

They should add a surrounded mechanic that hurts a single entity every second it’s surrounded
Remember, Fiery Convocation is OP spell and it should be nerfed while Warp Lightning isn't.

Yeah. I've learned pretty quickly that ruins with absolutely no ratmen around is pretty much bait 50% of the time (or more). Go in, and 3 full stacks waiting for you underground.
if you hover over the ruin, you should be able to see if it has skaven corruption or not. That's a big giveaway.
ha, I play as the Vampire Courts and I'm allied to all the Skaven clans. I don't have to deal with their bullshit at all 😂🤣😂
Noob tip:
If you draw a figure eight move command for your units in reserve, they will auto-dodge most spells...keep them moving
I vaguely recall being able to move units in a certain way. How do I "draw" movements?
At 25:09 what buttons did u just press to select the units like that?
You select one unit, then shift and click another, and you will select anything in between the two.
Alternatively, you can select multiple units (and keep them selected) by pressing ctrl while you click.

I have 100% ambush chance in my Ikit Campaign on all my LLs, they still fail quite a bit 😂
It means 100% is only the case for 0% ambush defense chance. so even a little bit ambush defense chance and it's not 100% anymore. I think most blue lines do have ambush defense and there are obviously traits.
@@HeavyMetalGamingHD indeed some factions do have defense chance increase in blue line, encamp stance also provides like 75% iirc. Makes me wish you could go over the cap, as technically some of my guys are well over 100%.

Random question do most ppl who submit disaster battles just pause their campaign until legend plays? Or is it more of a learning experience kinda thing.

I'm surprised that there was even a defeat likelihood for Cathay. They're so overpowered

Ambushes in Warhammer 2 were easier than normal fights (except when the enemy have tons or artillery/weapons teams and you lack flying units)
Depends, ambushes were terrible if you had an archer based army.
Not on legendary difficulty where you cannot pause though.

thats faction dependant and also on your own army, as other stated. tho i rather didn't always like the ambush maps i got sofar in wh3 either. like when u have too long walk towards the enemy army and it starts straight deploying is LUL K - while on the defensive side, your own action is blocked for like 4 long seconds, the ai always gets a hit in

I love the "no default ambush stance for skaven" mod.
God I hate snitch, three restarts of imrik on 2 before I got him before he snowballed, malus was a pushover in comparison, but now grimgor has 38 settlements because thogrim screwed up, and my campaign is just constant attrition against stacks and stacks of green skins getting the other dragons is impossible, perhaps imriks start is better in IE as eshin and ardboyz have moved away from him.

Snitkch is such a nightmare, his hitbox is TINY, he is FAST, and his furry ass usually covered in missile resistance, i LOVE having him on my side but i HATE fighting against him.
Hero stacks are also highly immune against ambushes, had the enemy find that out a couple of times by now XD
