Man I wonder how the meta of a 2v2 catan game is. Like it seems even deeper than regular catan and I feel like everyone is just doing their best to figure it out as they go
Yeah Nicholas, it's a super interesting variant of the game that makes you look at things from a different perspective. Hard to say whether it's deeper, but there's definitely still a lot of exploring to do as far as strategy goes.

I know that following the tournament there was some discussion around whether or not it's worth changing the target to 9 VPs rather than 8, and how this might impact the time-frames set for such an event.
Either way I find it very interesting and enjoyable, and I think it's a fantastic format for community building.
wouldve picked the 6 and 5 wheat, and by that blocking them from picking a decent wheat spot

I was also curious how that strategy would play out. Surely they'd be forced to take at least one coastal wheat, but then would be able to more effectively block the 5-ore.
It's an interesting idea for sure but I think that if we go with the 5/8/10 (Wheat) & 4/6/9 we probably give our opponents a much better setup with their 4 picks, even if that means they need to settle on one (or both) of those 11 Wheat spots and then build towards the 3/6 as an expansion from the 3/4/8 with a road in hand. 🤔
It's always a bit tricky when you're going in 1st & 2nd positions in this format because your opponents then place 4 settlements in a row. With that in mind, I think ensuring we had access to all 5 resources with decent numbers is a solid starting point.
I really do appreciate both of your thoughts here.
Always good to look at things from a variety of perspectives.
