Ahsoka and Morgan’s rematch is one of my favorites, mostly because of the kill. The sounds as Ahsoka uses the Blade of Talzin to defeat Morgan just sounds so good.
yes and just the fact that she kills her with her own blade is poetic in itself
They did well showing the different fencing styles and how the curve in ashokas blade gives her leverage and how ballan uses almost a long sword or great sword style
he's using a lot of form five.
Baylan should have had the cross guard saber. They would have done a much better job showcasing how that thing should have been used with him imo.
@@markd7762cross guard was taken by Kylo Ren
A shame Baylon’s actor died after production. Meaning such a cool villain is actually gone for good now
They could always recast.
Watching these (out of context, mind) I'd say these duels are pretty good! There are definitely a few shots where I thought to myself "eh... you could'nt have gotten a better take than that?" but overall I quite like these duels. It's just that it's too often that the pace is a little slow and you can see the actors adjusting their bodies to make sure the next exchange can happen. This is in contrast to most other duels in Star Wars (even in the sequels) where the actors effectively sold the idea that the characters were genuinely trying to kill each other. I do still like these duels for how grounded they feel at their best moments. There's also lots of fun ideas happening (like when Ahsoka uses the droid's body as a shield) to keep things interesting.
To me, as a martial artist, theres just too much that doesn’t make sense and is unnecessary in the way they move for me to not be scratching my head at the choreography choices. Furthermore there’s a bit of an extra sensory thing lacking for me personally in the way these actors fight. Lacking “swordsman spirit” if you will, like you said, very showy, almost like you’re watching actors fight on stage in a play.
@@yoyofun1tbf I could see the showiness and play-like style being on purpose, as it seems pretty inspired by old samurai films
@@Tabulatelk15 Yeah definitely
i like the path they are taking with more of grounded combat. They also did that in the clone wars animated series. This show has gotten as close to that as they've ever gotten before.
@@yoyofun1if you are so bothered by the real life practicality of fight choreography in TV and cinema, then you’re gonna have a really tough time my friend. Especially when it comes to Star Wars
I don't understand why struggled to bring these type of lightsaber battles to the sequels
Because the art of lightsaber combat was lost. The sequels weren't meant to be good duels.
They hoped the sequels would be iconic and replicate the success of the original series where things are slower paced and focus more on the storyline
The sequels are the only SW movies that I haven't watched more than once.
That would've meant coming up with something on their own.... JJ is incapable of original thought

This show went all in on the lightsaber duels and I am here for it!!!
That was one of the things I loved about it
Same
Anakin's one was a little lacking honestly. They had to tell him to slow down because he was going too fast for them.
Morgan and Ashoka is probably one of my favorites, amazing choreography (after anakin and obi ones of course🗿)
☠️ ☠️ ☠️
Yeah, Rosario has become so much more confident with the sabres and Morgan’s actress is the god daughter of Bruce Lee and a brilliant stuntwomen so she is obviously amazing

Great compilation! I think the Ahsoka show did a really good job on taking us back to form on lightsaber combat while also introducing a more samurai-esk quick exchange duel type, which I really enjoyed! Some inconsistencies here and there, but its a tv show, hopefully in the filoni movie we get the full prequel treatment!
It was a great series. Best lightsaber choreography since Disney purchased Lucasfilm and I loved the samurai feel to it. However, no where near the level of the prequel duels. I’m very hopeful for Filoni’s film!
Completely agree, and watching them at 1.25x speed makes them that much better giving of prequel vibes
These new characters are ass. Most Boring duel combat, closely followed by Rey palpatine episode.
@@gigantimous9700you are so wrong and clearly biased

I will say, in the young ahsoka fight, it seems more real, as ahsoka may not be as experienced in my opinion. Making Anakin the true master in that situation. And Anakin fighting is far better than everyone, but still better than the sequels I think.
No wonder. Anakin was one of the best duelists of his time , plus Hayden had training for the prequel duels , so he is a natural
The most impressive duel was between Ahsoka and Morgan. Morgan really puts up one heck of a fight with an impressive moveset but Ahsoka held her own.
Seeing how the confidence of the actors progressed and how much better that last fight was compared to the rest of the series makes me sad they probably took a break before starting season 2. Wish they could have taken that momentum into the new season.
I can see the direction they were going for snd that's a respectable angle. Unfortunately the inexperience of the actors show a lot in these parts especially when you see Hayden's performance later on.
Hayden just know how to fight lightsaber.
Complaining are we
not gonna lie the hayden part was still a trash duel against ashoka in the end, there was so much wasted heavy movement.
The real Anakin would have wiped the floor with Ashoka very fast
@@smokingcloud7792i disagree, not only is ahsoka trained by anakin himself, she has more than enough experience to at least be able to stand her ground effectively well I might add, he would eventually overpower her and win but it wouldn’t be an easy task for him.
Baylan Skoll was pretty good, he fights like an old knight, especially with his style and strength complemented by his surprising agility.
It was sooo good to see the Star Wars rebels characters appearing in a live action tv show
These lightsaber duels really feels like samurai swords fight 😳
I enjoy these duels a lot! 🎉
I feel Ashoka had a lot of growth especially when her lightsaber combat I mean she was fighting opponents back to back and steal wasn’t breaking a sweat especially after her training session with anakin
Truly some of the Best lightsaber fights I've seen in a long time.
Great choreography
Fast
Kinetic
Energetic
Different styles too!
Well done! Bravo 👏 👏 👏. Hope to see more of this in Season 2!
Really dude? Better than Darth Mau??
@crxracer805 ... better than Episode 7-9 is what comparing too dawg!
Its some of the best stuff we've gotten recently and it feels good

I love Lightsaber Duels. It just makes these fights so legendary 🌟
i really dont understand people's complaints about the choreography. It's pretty damn close to the clone wars animated show. This clashes feel more weighted and impactful. I really like this new path we are treading. its only up from here.
there's no comparison. Anakin/Hayden is on another whole level. Even when that fight was short.
All lightsaber forms that were used for each character
Form I: Sabine and Ezra
Form II: Shin Hati
Form IV: Balyon Skull
Form V: Ahsoka and Anakin
Form VI: Marrok
Form VII: Morgan
Ahsoka is mega underrated
That lady in the last duel gave her the best workout.
Baylan is phenomenal. Really like him. RIP. Who else thinks he should have wielded the cross guard saber? The way he wields his saber is very powerful which would have translated perfect to a long cross guard saber.
Don’t hate these battles are way better than what they’ve been serving
I don’t hate them at all
Yeah I never did get all the hate around these lightsaber duels during Ahsoka. Especially when you take into account how long the Jedi have been gone and those remaining only have a few to practice with or learn from. Ahsoka and Sabin both improved with each saber fight. And Morgan is always a beast! Now just get Nick Gillard back in there to put the icing on the cake.
Yea these are actually pretty good. I think people get carried away comparing these to Ray Park and Hayden Christensen. Those two are just phenomenal, but you can tell a ton of effort went into these fights. I dig em, and Baylan is a badass lol.
My problem with them is ahsoka doesn’t have the reverse grip
@@Analog-1313that’s because in reality the reverse grip isn’t good like at all when it comes to fighting. It just hinders her
@@tommyfamolare8740 True, but the reverse grip was almost synonymous with Ahsoka herself, it being non standard gave her unpredictably, something she learned from anakin.
Loved Ahsoka but I sometimes couldn’t stand how they’d just stand around for a few seconds before fighting, or stopping and than standing around.
Pauses are very authentic in all forms of melee. It's tiring and you need to intimidate or assess from time to time.
@@crhu319 yeah but Ahsoka froze in one pose with her lightsaber raised even after she defeated the inquisitor. This is so ridiculous
Qui-Gon must be wondering how all these people survive lightsabers
Thanks for putting them all in one vid!
My personal favs are:
1. Ahsoka vs Baylan p1 - the best from the series and comparable to the best duels in saga, i would put it in my top 5 in all live action SW
2. Sabine vs Shin p2 - one of the longest duels, and it's perfect in it's inperfections :) two apprentices cannot be crazy powerful and yet the fight is fast paced and entertaining
3. Maybe a little surprise but Ahsoka vs Marrok p1 - maybe i liked it because this cool Correlia surroundings, idk but i'm enjoing this one
Honourable mention: Ahsoka vs Anakin - cmo'n Hayden still got the moves! but it were too short
It was one underwhelming duel, Ahsoka vs Baylan p2, expected fireworks there and it was a little too generic and way worse than their first one.
Overall duels from Ahsoka are the best duels in live action Disney era 💪🔥
Those are my personal favorite fights too
Love it love it love it!
When Ahsoka launches marrok back with that force push in their first duel 😍 2:40
I love how people are complaining about the pacing and slowness of the combat. What do you want from them? They’re in a point of time where the teachings of flashy fast paced combat with a lightsaber is hardly trained. Their technique is going to be more rough and ragged. Plus there is the weight of each decision. The slow pace matched the wait and power behind each attack. You can tell how if it wasn’t blocked or parried, it would have been fatal. This is beautiful lightsaber choreography through and through
Shit your mouth and stop lying. This is pure garbage choreography.
So I guess Ashoka all of a sudden forgot about her teachings as a Jedi in “flashy fast paced combat”. At the end of the day it’s to telegraphed and slow, this is a force user who can increase their speed using the force but comes off slow, they could easily increased the speed
Cope harder for your shitty show
Ahsoka is real wild in the last one
I guess it s all about the actor/actress , cause hayden just seem like a god compare to everyone else here.
I love Ahsoka.
I know people like to shit on the Ahsoka show. But I actually really enjoyed it! It felt like the OT, where lightsaber fights actually felt dangerous.
Ppl shit on the prequels and the cw and rebles when it first came out, Star Wars fans are just never happy at all, yeah Disney did fuck up with the sequels but the shows have been okay to great ppl just complain a lot
Gotta say, first time I really can really praise the duals since Episode 7 and the Prequels. (Well, Rey vs Kylo in 9 was IMO extremely underated and probably the only good part of that movie, but otherwise) The choreography us just so freakin good all around. And the actors just nailed it, espiaclly Shin, Sabine, and Morgan. Then Hayden man, still the absolute best when it comes to these duels. Overall I just cannot praise these enough.
Honestly the choreography isn't bad it's just the execution of it. They definitely should have realized this and increased the speed in post
I think these were WAY WAY better then the sequels duels. These aren't quite level to the prequels but they definitely improved from the sequels.
I love ahsoka is my of my many favorite JEDI knight she is an excellent Jedi just like REY is my other favorite what great JEDIs may the force be with you
Round 2 is actually Darth Vader be Ahsoka Tano. He is in the persona of Vader, has Sith eyes and a red lightsaber. This is Vader if he defeated Obi Wan on Mustafar.
Agreed
I thought these fights were pretty amazing don't get me wrong they could be slightly better but I'm hoping that it does sometime in the future but I doubt it but I thought that these lightsaber doors were a little bit better than the ones in Kenobi and I think the Ahsoka show is a lot better than the Obi-Wan Kenobi show in my opinion I say it's on par with Mandalorian
I wish they would apply the prequel style lightsaber blade effects, they has such great presence. The modern show lightsabers feel like enhanced glow sticks
When i saw that form changing in middle of the fights i almost ca...
Anakin vs Ahsoka's duel should have felt like something like Obi wan vs. Anakin.. would love to see behind the cut scenes atleast for some of it
Its very entertaining 🎉🎉
dances of the disabled
As lutas de Sabre de luz nessa série é muito bom
If only I had Disney+, I would've loved to see the FULL duel between Anakin and Ahsoka!
Best Star Wars fight is Maul vs Obi and Qui
13:31 Kazotsky kick intensifies
I love the art design for the Ahsoka series, but her constantly having the concave curve of the hilt toward her irritates the hell out of me. It can only reduce range, just like reverse grip.
#katanahate
My only problem are sabine survived a LIGHTSABER stab. If you want the character to live don't try to kill them
Easily the best lightsabre duels (in terms of choreography, the essence conveyed about the characters via the way they fight, overall display of skill vs it not actually being over the top, etc) in the franchise. Except in the cases where the story/character-rach implications of certain duels mean they have bigger impact - e.g. Obi-Wan vs Vader in Ep 4. and Luke vs Vader in Ep. 6 (my two fave overall).
But other than that, these are definitely the best. And Rosario Dawson really nailed it as Ahsoka.
The fuck did they do to Baylan's lightsaber? There's supposed to be a white light in the middle, not have the whole blade be fricking orange. Disney gets ONE THING RIGHT, I'll actually be surprised.
Hey. These duels aren't bad!
Yo Hayden still got those skills
Why stab a character with a lightsaber if you want to keep them alive? It makes the lightsaber look weak and duels have no stakes
I love how much they took from old samurai fight scenes, it’s awesome but it drives me nuts how many of these fights are fought to a draw. I gets it’s in the interest of the story. But still she essentially cut Morgan in half and it’s as bad as fallen order lol.
like the show but dawson needs to work on her fighting. shes quite stiff especially the bit when she was training in her ship. the good , fast fights (with morgan) i believe were done by her stun double.
i like it ... . ..
I think even I can beat them all
I would love to see you try...
At least Dave didn't have the actors pretend like the lightsabers weighed a hundred pounds when they welded it like the idiot directors did in the sequel movies.
I don't want to defend sequels because I don't really like them, but that was Lucas's original direction.
They made it a point in both of the animated shows that sabers are a lot heavier for those that aren't used to wielding them like rey and finn when they first fought kylo
@@soukupojobyeah remember the first ever lightsaber duel. Like obi-wan and Vader treated the sabers like heavy swords needing 2 hands too swing it
I like how Ashoka series fight style is different from other star wars, like it's so soft, looks like a samurai/Knight fighting style, and don't forget how anakin's fought when he trained Ashoka, so nice.
These duels are much better sped up
12:23 couldn’t he just push her shin hati against that metal thing lol
why ahsoka really like to spin?, spin = acrobatic?
Ashoka Tano vs Darth Vader.
Lacks passion and technique.
Maybe I’m overstimulated by these fights anymore or have seen too many but there’s too much pointless spinning around. Looks more like dancing than sword fighting.
My favorite ones are Ahsoka vs marrok pt 1 and especially pt 2. Loved the vibe and music. and the Baylin fight. The Morgan fight wasn’t that good to me. It was like hit or miss. Rosario seemed slow in that fight. Morgan made her look terrible and it’s because the actress trained in marshal arts. And I was amazed on how fast she was. Ahsoka vas anakin wasn’t a vibe for me. Looked bad. No unique moves. What I hate most with these fights is that they lack imagination. No force flips or force powers included. I know they want to stick to practical affects and people say it’s unrealistic. Well that’s bullshit. This is Star Wars. It’s fiction, it’s not supposed to be like our real world. Bring back force jumps like they did in prequel fights. Use CGI for god sakes. I don’t know why people hate cgi, it makes everything look good and smooth if done right. That’s why the prequel fights were so good. They had a balance of both and Nick Dillard. Over all I appreciate we got so many fights in this show. They seriously went all out which I appreciate. Eventhough they didn’t all slap. I enjoyed these fights out of anything Disney live action that we have gotten so far. By far better than the kanobi series and that’s sad.
Um...what? 0:42 ....How did they switch places?
I love the prequel fights but it highlighted a problem that more and more use which is the saber should be used very sparingly in battle personally, otherwise you diminish the power. Like that crap abou being stabbed in the stomach and not instantly near death's door.
If they dont end in serious near fatal harm NOT GRAZING OR ANYTHING, wrong outcome. This is the most dangerous weapon in the galaxy right? Make it mean something
The duels are getting there, but they are still not at the level of the prequels. The fluidity just isn't there. The Morgan fight is by far the best. That said there are moments when you can see where Rosario is thinking about the next movement. They need more training.
There were many who complained about the duels in this series, in part they have some reason, but in my opinion I consider this series as a tribute to the Ronins and Samurais movies, another thing is that the actors are also quite older than what they expected. They were Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen at the time, we cannot pretend that ALL the duels are exactly the same as Luke vs Vader and Obi Wan vs Anakin, but what fun would it be if they were ALL the same and there was no variety. At least in this series they had the necessary acrobatics and movements, which in all the sequels, sorry but the duels in the sequels are really terrible, the sequels are really fights with sticks
I gotta say, I feel like TCW Ahsoka, would have bodied Skoll NP.
Am I the only one who hates these new sound effects??
Listen to the original lightsaber sounds, there’s no comparison.
Which sound effects do you mean, the sabers themselves, or them striking each other?
From my own experimentation in Audacity, the new sounds are _made from_ the original sound effects; which Ben Burtt made by combining the sound of a running film projector with feedback from a TV cathode ray tube.
Sabine’s saber is merely pitched up 8 semitones and has vibrato and flanger effects added (was already used for Ezra’s blaster-saber in Rebels), Ahsoka’s is pitched up 2 semitones and layered under itself pitched up 15 more semitones, with bass enhancement and a chorus effect added. Shin’s has a ~27.5 ms delay effect and a ~36.5 hz ring mod effect added (was already used for Pong Krell), Marrok’s are pitched down 7 semitones and have a ~36.5 hz ring mod effect added (was already used for Sidious in Clone Wars and Inquisitors in Rebels), and Baylan’s has a 92.5 hz ring mod effect added for the hum (same as Darth Maul), and multiband compression added for the swings.
The clashes are mostly old, too; using the same dry ice and carbon arc sounds as the OT, but mixed in new ways - with zap elements from The Phantom Menace layered underneath. The only entirely new sound is the crackling when blades are locked; and it’s far too badass a sound for me to complain. 🙃
@@crimlum5224
The ignitions. The “hum”. The clashes. All of it.
Oh my god this SUUUUUUUUCKS
I've seen better light sabre duels from TH-cam content video creators.
Only swordman here is Hayden. The problem for others is they are just swirling saber in air. There is no combat feeling. They are only follow the coreography. In fact coreography is for back stage. But the saber fight is real. I dont find their saber movements realistic. I only find Hayden Christensen's movements realistic. There is no coreography for him: he is only performing himself. So his performance is organic realistic combatlike. He is awesome. Why lucasfilm offer him being stunt coordinator besides acting? It might be cool!
Needs less cutting
That first battle is garbage. I don't even want to see the rest.
People who think Ahsoka series is bad are not Star Wars fans
Sabine survives a light saber in the gut, then fights using a light saber with no training, then uses the Force with no training.....really? Shit show
That was the fastest way for me to lose interest, the saber should never just graze, or your doing it wrong, personally.
Even Lucas did that when Kenobi was grazed by Dooku in AotC
Great compilation! I think the Ahsoka show did somewhat okay on the lightsaber duels but mostly bad. A good majority of the duels were slow especially with Ashoka’s. Also some of the positions they were in during the duels were so laughably fake it took me right out of the show reminding me “this is Disney’s Star Wars”. I get what they were trying to go for but sadly Star Wars is in a really bad state. They should rehire Nick Gillard permanently
Ps pls stop stabbing ppl with lightsabers just for them to survive it. It makes no sense AND it nerfs the lightsaber more and soils Qui Gons death even more than it already has.
Pss a great way to make their duels better is if we get a full shot of both their full bodies instead of the top half so we can see all the action you need footwork to duel
Sabine got stabbed where there weren't any vital organs. Jinn on the other hand...
I get that the prequels had faster fighting because the Jedi were at their peak but Ahsoka was trained by Anakin so her fighting still should be 🔥🔥 but she looks tired
@zero24 she also looked like she’d put on weight lol
I'v heard the fights in this show were pretty terrible and I agree, the pace is slow and some positions look so fake and overly theatrical. These actors and the directions they were getting are way bellow what mcgregor, christensen and co. did.
Slow….so slow…. they look so…. uncoordinated.
Boooooriiiiiing!!!!
These fights were slow, boring and lacked any creativity. It's like watching the big duel at the end of a samurai movie, but they decided to make every fight that big duel and it just diminishes the impact when every fight feels so dramatic.
Just wait til she has the moves like one force sensitive mandalorian named mandalore the great I do believe and it took revan to take him down if the lore is correct 😊
Doesn't take much to make some people happy. Let's see what you say in like 20 years. Compared to the CGI animation this live version is lame. They should have CGI all the fight scenes to be more like the animation.
wtf why does every fight start with both opponents looking at each other while doing literally nothing for an eternity until they start fighting ?
Doesn't get me exited, if they do it every time for no reason, it gets me bored af.
Disney just sucks at making good Star Wars.
Just remember the good old times where they actually did something like talking to each other (and often also really have to say something) before a fight or at least having a sick entrance like maul had. But this silence everytime is so damn boring and shows a huge lack of creativity when you look at the Disney writers.
One of my biggest issues with most of these duels, besides the sluggish choreography, is that there’s no stakes. We know Ashoka can’t die because Dave is too attached to let her go and none of the other can either, because of the merchandise.
Just watched the first episode and not a male star villain or villain or Star sidekick inside it's the first time I have had to think about gender balance in a film Disney are taking it just too far
Comparing this to any of the other Star Wars pre Disney makes it look like a fan film. To be fair though Morgan and Ahsoka is a far higher standard compared to the rest.
Dizzyknee really pissed me off with the treatment of Ashoka Tano series
Have seen better fan made duels, these are not fluid, all hack and slash.
