This is by far one of the THE BEST lightsaber fights I've ever seen. I hate it when people swing their LS just for the sake of making it look cool, but essentially to air where it will do absolutely zero damage if not blocked. I love how in this sequence, they both look like they're actually trying to hit each other with each and every swing. And I hate how so many people just rely on only using their LS in the fight. In a real fight, you'd use everything at your disposal. This sequence checks both boxes perfectly, not to mention the cool camera work and just a kickass fight choreography.
I love the concept and the chorography in this short film! This actually had me want to see more from this film from back story to what lead to this point. I would love to see the turn she takes after the saber strike to the trooper.!! Great job with vision and story. 5 stars!!
The dialog is kinda awkward, but this fighting? Awesome! I especially like the mixing of martial arts and swordfight, as well as the nice detail of burning marks on the ground and some unusual force-use (like using a push against the ground to stand up quickly).
WHOAH! This short film is amazing! Not only were the cinematography and choreography INSANE (better than in some of the movies), but the storyline was so interesting and I became so attached to the characters in just five minutes! The acting was great! The editing was great! The fighting was great! You should seriously consider making this a full-length film! Bravo!
this was superb. Most LS fights are mostly for show with flashy movements. this combined stylisltic blade movements combined with a sense that they were ACTUALLY trying to slice each other with them. Not to mention the obvious athleticism in both characters (the woman's background in Martial Arts is obvious with her technique). I'm still amazed how a bunch of "nobodies" with a small budget and a rendering computer can make a better lightsaber duel than the entire sequel trilogy combined (that throne room fight in TLJ is a nightmare)
i've been following the youngmasters since 2007, and i've never been disappointed by that. I grew up with you guys, and i'm so happy about it. Awesome work, lovely fight scenes (including martial arts and swordfight) and very good VFX (good interaction between them and the enviroment).
This is an awesome short film! I hope you were able to get in and work with Disney on one of their official projects. I loved the detail in the LS duel, to include the effects of the LS blade on the ground. Well done!
Beyond underrated. Excellent choreography. I love that the effort put in to make it look like they're actually trying to kill each other and not just aiming at each others blades.
Oh. My. God. THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! I can’t believe this doesn’t have more likes!!! Magnificent job with the choreography and mood, it really got me invested!!
Wow.... I forgot this channel and why I subscribe it long long time ago (it's indeed at the first batch channel that I follow few years back then). And wow.... Now I remember. I love your 2013 reel!!! And this is amazing works.... Wow wow
I LOVED the blade interactions with the ground. But I didn't like she turning evil just for the sake of it 😅 I mean , I understand she getting revenge but she clearly a good person and that looked like she's going dark force from now on out of context.
i really like two phrases here: "If you re not with me, you re my enemy" & "i am no longer the one you knew" really great performances with these and of cource i love the whole lightsaber fighting/fencing, choreography, the sequence all of it
Por más que vea otros fan films con coreografías, éste es el único que tiene todos los efectos y detalles sin errores, el efecto al tocar al sable el suelo, las hojas... delicia pura en todo su esplendor. Para mí es el mejor cortometraje.
The Bleeding. Ah, that's one of my favorite additions to the Star Wars lore. Sith lightsabres aren't just red Khyber crystals nor are they natural. They're actually corrupted. The sith force the power of the dark side onto the crystals and it turns them red, hence it's called the Bleeding. It represents how powerful you and the crystal have been corrupted. You also have to steal it from another Jedi. How Darth Vader got his is pretty epic.
I see these days a bunch of "Awarded" lightsaber fights and none of them are even close to this technical and intense unawarded fight. Very good performance👍💪
I’m quite impressed with the stunt work you guys did. The wire work and the acrobatics were really impressive for a no-budget film. Are you guys professionals?
@@HideyoshiR Yep, I figured as much. You guys did a good job. I hope you guys are still getting work, considering all the stuff happening in Hollywood.
LOL...Funny how so many are blasting ONLY the Disney movies for inadequate lightsaber choreography compared to THIS excellent short film when even the pre Disney Star Wars movies are just as inadequate.
It's always frustrating to see what is done with a massive cast and crew with an enormous budget and resources compared to what is done with a handful of people, limited funds, and a couple of computers and have the latter be the superior product somehow. If one asked why, the answer would be simple: Passion.
the fight is fucking sick!. Looks better than the Disney Jedi Fights, Long Shots where u can clearly see the action is not something done often and I like that way more than rapid jump cuts where u cant tell whats going o!
Turn back to the light side now boy or you're in for a real treat you'll be thrown into lava and you'll get a suit like Darth Vader so you might want to listen to your master May the force be with you
If she wants to protect him, why does she keep trying to cut him in half throughout the fight? Even when he's disarmed, she keeps doing these cleaving strikes at him like she wants to bisect him.
Good point! We tried to minimize her attacks as much as possible. Initially the plan was to never have her use saber strikes but merely defensive or non lethal techniques. One swing was supposed to be a hook kick but became hard to pull off for example. Let's just say she calculated his evasion so it would not be a deadly strike... Another one is actually meant to be a sword hilt strike but looks like a sword slash..
How is this possible that 2 fan boys can do a better choreography combat than what we watched in sequels? I mean DIsney is a multimillonaire company. Disney has destroyed star wars
very true, that was a gripe I had when editing this - I don't know enough about sound stuff. We simply didn't have enough time since we set a deadline in the beginning.
I’ve seen few lightsaber fights that effectively blend bladework and hand to hand combat. This is certainly one of them.
Which were the other ones?

Completly agreed this lightsaber fight ROCKS
Fantastic. I so want to work something like this one day!
This is 100% why we need martial artists in Star Wars.
Yes!

PLEASE do more of these...would love to see how the story arc develops....awesome work
Woah.
This is incredible. I would pay to see a whole movie of this.
Love the empty hand fight as well, shows true skill that a Jedi or Sith, should be capable of. I love when people do the force justice!
It has been three years and I still haven't seen a better saber duel than this. Well done!
That was one of the most awesome lightsaber duels I’ve seen in years. Keep those coming. I could be a Star Wars fan again off of content like that
This is an awesome short film! I hope you were able to get in and work with Disney on one of their official projects. I loved the detail in the LS duel, to include the effects of the LS blade on the ground. Well done!
Well I don’t want to work for Disney.. imo they killed SW
Beyond underrated. Excellent choreography. I love that the effort put in to make it look like they're actually trying to kill each other and not just aiming at each others blades.
Awesome choreography, I was blown away
Impressive....................most impressive.
Very Impressive! attention to detail was way better than anything Disney has done
best saber dual I have seen in a fan made film!!
This is as good if not better than any Star Wars series presently on Disney Plus. I hope this project of yours gets the attention it deserves.

One of the best star wars short movies I've ever seen
Wow! That was one of the best fan films I have ever seen. That fight was almost as good as Ani and Obi.
i don´t understand why you don´t have almost 1 million in this project! it´s too awesome. congratulations Lorenz and team!

@@HideyoshiR Why?
An independent fan film was able to produce a SIGNIFICANTLY better light saber fight in 5 mins than Disney could in 3 movies😔
Honestly? We can count on one hand the number of lightsaber fights that come close to this in all the movies.
Bullshit
@@lesgalloiseries Nah the prequel fights still remain the best.
Amazing coreography AND VFX congratulation
This my fav fan film wish it was longer and had more back story to it! Good stuff👍🏾
That's really great choreography!
I LOVED the blade interactions with the ground. But I didn't like she turning evil just for the sake of it 😅

This was so cool!! Love how real the lightsabers look and blend into the video!
This is one of my favorite short films I enjoy to watch time after time.
You guys honestly did a lot better with the lightsabre fights than they did in the movies! Super kickass!
10 out of 10 lightsaber fight
This was made very good the light saber fight scene how it burns the leaves it looks so real I give this 10 out of 10 100 Percent good
Masterfully executed! Loved this!
This duel is much better than the whole sequel movie. It's even better than the duel in the Obi-Wan series.

Amazing work and all shoot with BMPCC , just woow
Incredible!!! I'm sure a ton of work went into this!!!
Attention to detail. Its the difference between good and frickin amazing. This was fantastic.

the sword fight is so gooood!!!
This is amazing! and shot with Bmpcc! just WOW!
Grey jedi vs jedi master I really love this dueling and nice orange blade or it is amber blade color.
I feel bad it doesn't have millions of views, stupid algorithm.
Nice!! Short but spins a tale. Action was top level
How have regular people figured out how to make such beautifully choreographed fights but Disney can’t…?
Outstanding fight sequence!
The best LS fight I've seen, SW movies and games included, how sad that Disney, with all their resources, can't even come close
2:37 this slow mo *chef kiss*
The wire work, cg, stunts where movie quality. Better than the actual Star Wars movie.
Now that was the Force!

This is better fighting than the clone wars
Holy Cow I've seen a lot of great fights and these people need to be with Disney. Maybe this'll save their franchise
Loved it!
Fighting.. very realistic
This is what the Acolyte should've been.
Amazing 🎉❤
Nobody uses the dark Jedi thing anymore in Star Wars but at least some people are using it in legends, FanFiction and Fan films
Better duel than the films 👍🏽. It’s awesome and sad at the same time 😆. Great job.
That choreography!
j'adore bravo (français de france)
better than disney crappy films, well done this is amazing
Agreed
better than the sequels
Way way Better fighting than Star wars nowadays with Ray and kylo

This fight was so good if this was an official lightsaber duel in the Star Wars universe i think it would be number 1
better than disney
i lost the duel!!! me and my friend liam were watching adn i said that i would be orange lightsaber
Masters at work. Congrats!
whow what was this it was much better than the newer star wars movies if you know what i mean....

My god, this was awesome to watch! My only criticism is the Dark Jedi’s blade. It’s a bit too orange. But this was satisfying to watch!

The sound and voice mixing is not properly done (1:10) and so on. You don't have the balance of voices and sounds. Filming-Wise extremely cool work.
