RIP Taylor, I wrote a previous comment on this video of how he picks up the tempo and it’s awesome. Now I come back to say thank you and RIP, Everlong….
Jesus this takes me back. First saw this performance on my DVR in middle school comcast had a favorite music or band section and I put in Foofighters. Life forever changed
Such a different time in music. This is when rock music was the absolute top dog. Not saying i dont like the big names in music now, but it was certainly a very different time then
Originally transmitted in May '97. Also in the studio were Radiohead playing from their OK Computer LP. More details are on the Later site on bbc.co.uk/programmes/p005lp2n
Pretty much how Dave discribes it years later when he discribes the differences between their guitarsounds in some documentairy. Then followed by studio footage of Taylor nodding off too sleep in the background and being brutally woken back up when they start the playback of Patts guitarpart.

@THE87GT Trust me date is wrong..this song would not be played on jools in 02 as he has em play the most recent/current song...but hey not your fault..great song and fills me full of nostalgia lool..cheers for uploading!
@feedyourheads I don't know about that. I just have this one file. But all the info from the original file is as follows. Location Jools Holland Date 01/17/2002 Format PAL Audio Satellite Video Satellite
Not to hate or anything, but this clearly wasn't in 2002. I mean pats there, sg custom, and the colour and the shape thing is behind them. But this is a great cover:)
Wait what. Im confused. I thought pat left the band around 1996 or 1997. In a 2000 gig Chris was playing with them where did he go here if this is in 2002.
nice! thanks for this! have to ask: do you know if this is the episode where they play with radiohead or something? I've been trying to find that one. They talk about it in some other jools holland interview.
Wow same episode as Paranoid Android apparently, shame they have to be upstaged. Jealous they got to see that great live though... How Dave can slag Radiohead off is beyond me.
David James Brown Could you stop hailing Radiohead as the greatest band of all time? I love them as much as the next person, but you should really chill out with the Radiohead comments because you are literally everywhere! I mean come on, The Foo Fighters are a great band and probably the only good Post-Grunge band. Give them credit...
***** "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me." I will hail them as the greatest all I bloody want as they are easily my favourite band, but I do love others and obviously if I am here I like Foo Fighters too... In fact I love Foo Fighters, I have all their albums, I love this song. One By One is my favourite album, love In Your Honour, Wasting Light, all their early albums. Last one not that much other than the first three songs. I wrote it's a shame they had to be upstaged because this is a great performance and yeah Dave has slagged off Radiohead more than enough, when he has no reason to...

Pat Smear's backup vocals are great. Sad he doesn't sing anymore.

@@KeithJones1984 obviously
The Pat Smear two chord harmonies.....best rhythm guitarist in rock
What's a two chord harmony?
This was played the same show as Paranoid Android. Legendary.
I’d forgotten this ...Radiohead were epic that night along with foo fighters
Watching Pat sing really makes me happy.
Pat Smear is one of the most underrated musicians of all time. I never get tired of watching him play. Fucking 🔥🔥🔥
Dave and Pat "fuckin" Smear RAW POWER!
I'm not remotely a Foo Fighters fan but could never get enough of this song
same
Pat Smear has the best guitar tone
@feedyourheads
Radiohead were also on this show the same week the Foos played. Those two bands made it a great show that week.
Even though I’m 19 rn, this song makes me feel like I lived through this. It’s a weird feeling
eli n song makes me wish I was in the 90s with a girlfriend who enjoyed this type of music too
am 22 i feel the same
I’m 23 and first heard this song when I was 13. It did the same to me

I love the way Pat is singing the chorus.
Really like this version.
No extended sections, pat on guitar and.backing vocals. Just sounds aweaome
My favourite band and my favourite song of them ❤
Fantastic performance an all-time favorite this upload Rock’s hard - thank you
Pats backing vocals are too good
Una de las mejores versiones en vivo, y más similar al disco original, pero interpretada con más corazón aún.
2021 still a great song
Thi was recorded on May 28th, 1997 but aired on May 31st.
Taylors drumming is phenomenal...Pats backing vocals are outstanding, don't know why he don't sing anymore he sounds great. !
This album changed my life
What a gem of a performance!!!!
Quality! RIP Taylor Hawkins.
young foo fighter..i watched this daily
I miss how during the 90s, they put a lot of effort into backdrops for TV performances
Hello, I've waited here for you everlong...
back when you had to be able to nail it live
Such a different time in music. This is when rock music was the absolute top dog. Not saying i dont like the big names in music now, but it was certainly a very different time then
They brought their A game to jools, every artist does. Every time

What a time to be alive
Look how YOUNG Dave looks here! (he loves it when you say that)
+Giant 1 Band and pat smear is still thin.
Yeah!
That drummer
Pat smashing the harmonies. Wonder why he doesn't do them anymore
3:20 what a beautiful guitar touch by pat smear
Pretty much how Dave discribes it years later when he discribes the differences between their guitarsounds in some documentairy. Then followed by studio footage of Taylor nodding off too sleep in the background and being brutally woken back up when they start the playback of Patts guitarpart.
Great song!
oh man, pat and taylor look absolutely fabulous
0:56 does that lead guitar part sound off to anybody? like theres a wrong note in there right?
Out of tune?
He just fucks it up slightly. It's nothing to do with the tuning.
Nate's bass is too quiet.
EC0205 just a bad mix. Drums sound like shit.
EC0205 drum sounds like hitting plastic
3:18 - If you ever wanted to know what Pat Smear sounded like, listen to this bit. It's just a fucking big slab of guitar. SMACK! :D
I like here how Taylor kinda picks up the tempos in the choruses
@THE87GT thanks a ton! That is really helpful :) Cheers!
I was never a big fan of this band, but this tune is the job.
Taylor hawkins, hes epic :P
i used to be taylor hawkins in my teenage years band, one of my dearest idol
Wow that's one awesome performance!

Fuckin shit Pat's backup vocals makes the song live even better lol
How does the audience stay so calm?
It’s the UK dude.
Listen to the song golden boys he did lead vocals
@THE87GT Trust me date is wrong..this song would not be played on jools in 02 as he has em play the most recent/current song...but hey not your fault..great song and fills me full of nostalgia lool..cheers for uploading!
OMG I used to get the same hairstyle that Dave has on the video
Damn Smear looks young!
holy shit the goosebumps
that was on 1997 i guess, pat smear wasn't in the band on that date
I love the TCATS background..
Foo Fighters with Mikael Akerfeldt were great
@feedyourheads I don't know about that. I just have this one file. But all the info from the original file is as follows.

I'm pretty sure this video isn't from 2002...
It should be from 1997 or 1998
yoo this performance was on 5/31/97? the guitarist there is pat smear he left just over 3 months after this was filmed.
Read my edit above. It aired in 1997.
Not to hate or anything, but this clearly wasn't in 2002. I mean pats there, sg custom, and the colour and the shape thing is behind them. But this is a great cover:)
"Let's all wear black and not tell Nate."
@thehaeg no he was replaced by franz stahl, who then was replaced by chris shifflet
@feedyourheads I think that's the one with RHCP, although it may have just been Thom Yorke..
Regardless. Past or present. Dave ROCKS...
I laugh at the perfect ends of Dave Grohl's hair
fucking epic!
mixing of the drums sounds weird...not sure if it's just the video or the actual live mix.
Pat sings like Dave was in NIRVANA
Wait what. Im confused. I thought pat left the band around 1996 or 1997. In a 2000 gig Chris was playing with them where did he go here if this is in 2002.
Taylor kinda looks like Stewart Copeland in this
PAT
damn right he is ;)
Tylor Hawkins
very true, your not the only one who noticed it LOL
It's not very often you play probely the best song they have ever written and it's still not the best song on the show that night 🤔
😢
i got that doubt too
nice! thanks for this! have to ask: do you know if this is the episode where they play with radiohead or something? I've been trying to find that one. They talk about it in some other jools holland interview.
Yes radiohead played paranoid android on the show,,
You know, you COULD change the title of the video.
Today they just canceled summer tour and may never tour or make music again according to Dave. Sad day in Rock….
exactly what i thought
@feedyourheads
yes it was OK computer was just released back then
Here's Radiohead on Jools Holland performing 'Paranoid Android'.
Don't know if it was the same show.
/watch?v=m_mMzOQpe0I
Wow same episode as Paranoid Android apparently, shame they have to be upstaged. Jealous they got to see that great live though... How Dave can slag Radiohead off is beyond me.
Radiohead are meh....
