Taylor is so underrated as a drummer. So brilliant!! People always talk about how great Dave is, but Taylor is incredible!! He has so much energy in his drumming; it's so refreshing!
I read these comments one week after Taylor’s untimely passing. Taylor Hawkins was an absolute beast on the drums. Dave is a perfectionist with a vision and sets incredibly high standards for the musicians he shared the stage with. Percussion was something he didn’t take lightly and had a very hard time finding the perfect fit for the FF. Taylor was that musician. We will never see another Taylor and I’m afraid Dave knows this. So cool that Dave truly loved bands like Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam. - Btw, after hearing of Taylor Hawkins death I was playing this song, one of my favorites ever, on the drums. I got about halfway through before my arms turned to jelly. Taylor must've been in incredible shape to still be playing tours at my age. RIP Taylor Thanks for the video, esp the story at 11:15.
When Nandi challenged Dave to an Everlong drum off, I heard Dave say he hasn’t played it since he recorded it for the album. Taylor has the job of playing it. Dave said he had forgotten how hard it is to play.
Franz is probably the most underrated former member of the Foos man. From an influential punk band like scream taking Dave in to Dave doing the same. It’s really emotional.
OG Version with Franz Stahl is the best. I love the sound of the one in 2011too but the first one is intense as hell, just makes you wonder how much impact a replacing of just one of the crew makes on the whole perception of the track. He just adds that slight dark tone to the flow which makes the track the legend that it is..
They've always been just a class act...canceling a tour date for Letterman and even just wearing suits for Letterman's last show. Doesn't seem that big but not many rock bands would do that. RIP Taylor

So, in short: thank you and... you're excellent at what you do. Can I throw in a request for a compilation I'm almost surprised you haven't created yet? A BONNIE HUNT compilation. Her and Dave's interactions were some of the best in the the late 80s (?) and the 90s. I'm sure you have a long list of requests... but thought I'd throw this out there. In any case THANKS for all you do!

Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red
Out of her head, she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever be this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you

She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head
Out of my head, I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you

And I wonder

Well that got emotional. Well done. Love seeing Dave Grohl and Barbara Gaines together in that last picture. I remember the early days of Letterman's NBC show when Barbara was just a voice shouting from backstage.
It's hard to process all the talent going on in this video. Dave, Taylor, Pat, Chris, Nate ... all of them ... so great. But especially the Dave and Taylor dynamic. I'm still in denial.
Something about this song…. Pierces me to the core.
Me too Julie.
Same. I always get emotional
two of my favorites, Letterman and Everlong
One of my favorite Foo Fighters songs, all because of Letterman’s show
some here. I even played this in several of our gigs. just because this is Letterman's song
Man watching this after the news about Taylor and this is the last track he played with them before his death..gut wrenching..RIP..
So cool that foo fighters blew off their tour to be there for Dave! Now that’s friendship !
5:28 I love him holding the CD upside down
What it's like to sing while tearing up emotionally. Love Foos forever
Oi
“My favorite band, playing my favorite song” 😊❤
I watched all of these when they aired, love the relationship the band had with Letterman!
Rip THawk.. Heaven must be having a hard time sleeping with you up there brother! Everlong for eternity!! “Yea THawk”!! RIP
Lineup changes each time! Love it
The energy and precision of Taylor is quite something 😳
So cool that Dave truly loved bands like Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam. - Btw, after hearing of Taylor Hawkins death I was playing this song, one of my favorites ever, on the drums. I got about halfway through before my arms turned to jelly. Taylor must've been in incredible shape to still be playing tours at my age. RIP Taylor
Thanks for the video, esp the story at 11:15.
Thank you for uploading this :)
Dear Don-thank you for this! Love, a big FF fan!!
Thanks so much for this Don.
RIP Taylor ❤️
Great chronicle of band history too. Franz Stahl is someone often forgotten about.
my favorite band, playing my favorite song…. ❤️
Thank you for posting this. Not only Dave's achievment but Taylor Hawkins, wow!... Everyone saw a summit that day.... envious much? :)
Taylor’s drumming! Man I totally overlooked this guy. Would have loved to see him live! a great loss!
This is what I needed.
i saw a clip from this on IG tonight. it brought me here. I miss you Taylor.
Thanks don for showing us this.
Love the song, love the atmosphere!!!
Can you imagine actually writing this song? An original this good!!??!?
Another great file. Thank you Giller. ;)
Giller. :)
Mr. Letterman and I have great taste
💕Foo Fighters 🙏🏻
Most of the time, smiles say more than words. ( you can put that on my tombstone )
2 great Daves!
If I ever attain the zen and excellence TH had hammering this song out on Feb 2000, I'll have died fulfilled.
the song @ letterman's closing show made me cry. yeah, I how they feel: LOVE and RESPECT!
Thank you Don, thank you, thank that’s all I can say, thank you 🙏
This was blocked a couple days ago due to copyright claim on a song that’s not included. Glad to see the block was removed.
They've always been just a class act...canceling a tour date for Letterman and even just wearing suits for Letterman's last show. Doesn't seem that big but not many rock bands would do that. RIP Taylor
From first to second live was a big upgrade in quality performance
I saw them 3 days before this at Roseland ballroom in NYC. It was double drum madness
This is also my favorite band playing my favorite song
Pat always looks like he is having the best time. Sorry for the boys’ loss. 💔
I was 15 when Everlong came out so... ❤❤❤ Love FF RIP Taylor
5:28 Love how you can hear his voice shake from emotion here.
My favorite song of all time. I get goose bumps when I hear it. I get emotional and I'm in a state of nirvana. I fking love it...
Hey Don... I can't tell you how much I appreciate the work you do, compiling these. I know you don't get much back, monetarily, from doing this.
It’s in the queue. Just haven’t gotten around to it yet. And thanks!
@@dongiller Thank you, Don! (And I now feel honored! An interaction with The Donz!)
Lay off the acid. :)
Very cool, Don.
Amazing group. Dave love for them never faded and rightly so.
Favorite song to airdrum to. 🥁
