Hi, Paul, good to see this video. The tide bell was installed in 2023 so it's really very young. Some great images It was good to meet you a couple of weeks ago - keep up the good work
Lovely evening 'with' you Paul. Some excellent results. Shows how the extra light in foregrounds helps make a more complete image. Had a good laugh at the end 😂
The things we put up with for our hobby! Great video that shows very well how an astrophotography evening pans out. Wonderful shots too. I especially liked the tide bell star trails one. Glad you had a good night 😃
Excellent video Paul. My favorite shot was of the Bell sculpture and Milky Way composition with water reflection. You can clearly see Andromeda too in a few of your shots. Noctilucent clouds are so elusive - on my hitlist too!! Glad to see your dedication to this 'hobby' as you evidenced at the end of the video!!! Great stuff!!
Thanks so much Geraint - really appreciated. I’ve had no joy so far with NLCs this year - realistically with work travel and family commitments I’ll struggle until July when I’m up in the Highlands for a few days. But looking forward to that! All the best.
Exceptional Nightscape journal Paul. The tide bell structure is something I've never seen before and looks interesting and unique. I do love the Milky-way core with the tide bell image. The reflections in the lagoon part so amazing, to see the milky-way reflected too. I'm so glad I watched to the end as always but I was laughing to myself as you decided to strip down to your undercrackers for the shot you needed haha. That is commitment for you 👏. It was a good job no one saw you walking back to your car dressed as you were, it would of gained some strange expressions 😂. Looking forward to the next journal, fully clothed this time I hope.
Thanks so much Lee - appreciated. First of all, "undercrackers" - love it, not heard that before but it's gone straight to the top of the list. Brilliant. Actually as it happens it was a little embarrassing when I bumped into someone who subscribes to the channel as I loaded up the car, while still trouser-less! Nice to meet and have a chat, but I worry I left the wrong impression! 🤣🤣 Think I'll remain fully clothed from now on, unless, of course, the shot REALLY needs it....
Wow Paul. You're getting pretty cinematic on this one. Really nice adventure and great shots! Love the relative simplicity of coastal comps, nicely done. That last part was truelly entertaining 😂.
Brilliant mate, thoroughly enjoyed that and as always great images. Your dedication to get the shot is unsurpassed. Thanks for starting the new group….THE APC…….The Astro Pants Club 😂
Cheers Glenn - really appreciated. It’s amazing how much creative freedom you have once freed from the tyranny of trousers - that’s the founding ethos of the APC really!!
Another great video and shots Paul. I actually tried to shoot the bell there last December with Orion but the cloud came over. What’s fascinating is just how much has changed in six months. The bell was firmly on the sand, no hint of the metal legs, there was no lagoon or sandbank. The Norfolk coast, things change! Thanks Derek
Thanks Derek - really appreciated. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got there as I’ve seen daytime images over the last time with it nicely embedded and also way up on its stilts! There was something a bit Apollo 11 about it on the legs though. Really interesting to see all that coastal geography in action!
Hello, I am really enjoying your nighttime videos. It's fascinating to see what you do and what can be achieved. I haven't been to Happisburgh for some time, so I will make a trip there soon to see - and maybe hear - the tide bell!
Thanks as always!! It was nice to get there early to get some drone views (not least because it helps me scout the location!). Indeed - anything for the shot! 🤣
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Paul, really did feel as though I was part of your expereince and some nice images to boot. I'm also pleased I stopped for the very end of the video, brought a wide smile to my face, what us photographers will subject ourselves to, too get the shot. We have no shame lol 😂 😂
Thanks for the encouragement, Geoff - glad you enjoyed it. No shame indeed - it was a little embarrassing when I bumped into someone who subscribes to the channel as I loaded up the car, while still trouser-less! Nice to meet and have a chat, but I worry I left the wrong impression! 😂
Great video! And its nice to see you are still going out even tho you guys dont have astro darkness :) and happy summer solstice! Darkness will finally return.
Thanks Matej - really appreciated. I quite like the different tones of the midsummer sky - very different to the blackness of Winter. Hope you're well.
Excellent video and images Paul. Those 'Time and Tide' bells are interesting, I believe there's only one up here in Scotland and it's way up on the Outer Hebrides.
Wow, your upload dedication is impressive! 🙂 And the cinematic quality is really going in the right direction! Very nice indeed. Don´t think I didn´t notice those great shots with sliders 😉 And to answer your question, yes - I do like these nightscape vlogs. They´re also a great substitute for when I can´t get out myself.
@@MartinFransson very kind of you, Martin - thank you for watching! I’m trying to use the slider where I can, but not always possible to bring it with me as it’s very cumbersome. Hope you’re well.
I never knew about the bell until your video, does indeed make for a great subject. Nicely done video, a minute in, I was "has he gone to the effort of setting up a slider for b-roll?"
Thanks James - really appreciated. It sounds like it’s still very new so may not have been there on previous trips. Ha ha, I decided when I can, and time allows, to get more use out of the slider and having recently watched a few solo walking vlogs from a guy who regularly uses a slider, I’ve decided I really like the effect (even if almost no one else notices it!!).
@@nightscapejournals I've contemplated selling mine, I've not used it in a good year or more as it's just a bit of a faff to set up. But then I figured selling it would be a faff if I have to ship it somewhere. So it sits in the corner of the spare room making me feel bad for not using it :)
A true professional right to the end Paul😀 And talk about dedication to the cause!! Who else would go down to their underpants just to get the shot🤣 Well done mate! Another excellent video! Loved the drone footage, that’s really working well for your videos! Brilliant images as always Paul, keep up the great work mate, but next time, maybe keep your clothes on!! 🤣🤣👍
Nice video Paul, and a perfect conclusion for a night of astrophotography. I also use the canon 6D for astrofotography, can i ask you if you note big difference of noise between 1600 Iso and 3200 or 6400 iso.
Thanks Massimo - appreciated. I think the 6D performs really well at ISO3200 and 6400, especially if you’re stacking. Even for foregrounds with single shots, a little bit of noise reduction in post (even the AI noise feature in PS/LR) cleans things up nicely. It does get worse the warmer it is, but still manageable in my opinion.
I so much enjoy this journal approach Paul. Thoroughly entertaining. Just the right amount of how to. Well done!
Thanks Dave - I appreciate that. Glad you enjoy it.
Bloody brilliant video Paul and nice to meet you that morning, keep the videos coming 👍📷
Thanks Anthony - nice to meet you too and I loved your lighthouse Milky Way image. 👌Thanks for your support.

Thanks as always for the encouragement, Paul. I was really pleased with the impact of that twilight on the foregrounds. Glad it made you chuckle!
Astonishingly good video mate!! You're going to be on the way to a million subs before long with this quality! 👍👍
🤣🤣thanks Luke - one step at a time, eh?! Really enjoy putting them together. Thanks for your encouragement and support. 👍
Hreat vlog, your shots came out great! I really enjoy your drone shots in between scenes as well, it really provides something else to your vlogs! 🔥
Thanks so much for the support, Roy. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Love the cinematic feel you've created in this video Paul, through the camera angles and music. And some unique compositions too 😍
Thanks so much, Greg - really appreciated. 🙏
