I'm a 56yr old Strength and Conditioning Coach.
I have been training full body almost everyday for decades.
There are 2 things to keep in mind
"Everything has a cost, not everything has a benefit. If it doesn't have a benefit, it only has a cost." Train intelligently and effectively. Don’t do random nonsense, even if it's fun, if you're expecting to train the next day.
Manage fatigue, don’t chase it. Seek efficiency in your exercise selection and loading parameters. Don’t crush yourself for the satisfaction of feeling like you did something.
    Good Journey!

@@decathlete2000 I don’t generally do a lot of volume, i.e. 3 sets of 5 reps, 3 x 3 with relatively heavy weight. I will occasionally go up to 3 x 8, 3 x 10 on weighted "bodyweight" exercises or rows, floor press, etc...
I mostly stick to compound and closed chain exercises. I like kettlebell complexes and chains for time/density
      Pretty typical sessions would be deadlift 3 x 5 with up to 85% of max or 3 x 3 with up to 95% of max, kettlebell floor press 3 x 5, barbell row 3 x 5, seated calf raise 3 x 8-10, tibialis anterior raise 3 x 10-12
      Or
Kettlebell clean/press/squat > weighted pull up > weighted dips x 20min with enough weight to manage 5 reps per set. I will finish up with training my neck.
      Rest between sets is auto-regulated.
I try to hit the basic motor patterns everyday. Training sessions are brief. Becoming shorter as I get older.
I also ruck, do loaded carries, sled drags, mtn bike, fat bike, hike, train Muay Thai, grappling and Filipino Martial Arts.
I'm a mountain hunter. This time of year my focus is on rucking. During hunting season, when I'm not in the mountains I will work up to a few relatively heavy singles on main lifts.

Oddly enough, people in cities are typically more fit, healthy and live longer than people in rural areas. I think it's because we have access to better food.

Yes modern farmers are on average certainly less fit than many urban professionals. A lot of it is to do with poor diet and rural poverty. Plus alcohol consumption is higher among farmers than other groups, which is partly due to the very poor mental health suffered by many farmers. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Scheereddzz speaks about the same thing in those terms, work out more consistently with a little less intensity so you can work out more consistently, and THEN every once in a while you can go full 100% but if i workout consistently every day vs going super 150% hard three times a week I'm going to get more reps in over the course of time vs only going three times a week. Good stuff from Scheereddzz as well!

Thank you, man, you reminded me of something. I always have been going to the gym to feel good, strong, and effective afterward with my body. I was doing full-body or half-body workouts all the time, and yeah I felt soo great, and proud. But last year I've had somehow forgotten that and got plagued by the looks and went full-on bodybuilding, just to build nice-looking but ineffective muscles. Now contradictory to my higher muscle mass I feel much worse, weaker, with less endurance and even almost constant upper back pain. You opened my eyes again, and I will start going there again to feel great not just to look great. Looks will come with persistence in that anyway, it will just take longer, but greatness can come only by the determination to strength, health, and effectiveness. Thank you.

Well, you may have achieved something here, the gals will salivating for sure. Am 68 and all through my life, exercises in full body is making sure that I cover all essentials that require everything I do in life. Not over exercising any one part but so as to copliment each part because, everything is connected. Balance is key to life, learn in everything associated with the physical being as well as keeping one's mind sharp, so yes, challenge yourself and keep construction going. Born and raised in Alaska. There, always in a state of developement and under construction. Remember folks , we are constantly changing, mind body and soul. With it, there is no final solution or destiny until we perish. Being complacent or cannot do does not exist in my vocabulary.

    • @Scheereddzz
      @Scheereddzz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I wouldn’t recommend focusing on upper body for an entire week. My recommendation is to train full body everyday with a focus on different exercises each day.

Refreshing to hear down to earth link between strength training & functional exercise. Watching my Uncle's body wasting away due to lack of basic walking TV watching laziness. He is now completely bed bound, can't walk, stand nor sit up in a chair. Body covered in bed sores. Loved to hear yr philosophy. Keep active be strong ❤

In my opinion push pull legs Is overrated. I was on it for probably a year And saw no results, So i tried Arnold Split (Arms + shoulders, chest + back, lower body, rest And then repeat) And I am seeing very good results rn And feeling pretty good. I am not saying you should do it, but i would definitely recommend to give it a try

I am 58 yrs old, very fit, and coming from long distance trail running, I hit the gym to build up a weak knee. I've hit it hard for four years. I needed to hear this. We are following Blue Zones methodology now, and growing our own food year around. I love my gym time, but again, I needed to hear this. The last week of lifting my motto was "be kind to yourself". So I think I am on the right track. I love making our day to day life physical, from kneading my own sourdough bread, to gardening, to hiking. Thanks! And my husband has promised to dance with me at my 100TH birthday, he'll be 104. 🎉
