      Your country has some of the best architecture in the world, but the citizens don't know it. They think it's just old buildings.

    Maryland in Liberia was an independent country founded by Freed Slaves from the State of Maryland in the United States.
    Because it was threatened to be annexed by France to be part of Ivory Coast, Maryland, the small country, gave up its independence to become part of present day Liberia that was already an independent republic since 1847 founded similarly by Freed Slaves from America.
    Thanks for shining light on this part of forgotten history. 🇺🇸👍🏿

    Thank you for showing this history. I am Jamaican living in abroad, but our people have always talked about going home to Liberia . There was no mention of of Maryland in that part of the continent . Now where are the Jamaicans living in Liberia 😂one love🇯🇲

    The land was actually purchased legally and we have to remember settlers are white people, not Afrikans who repatriated back home from america.

    • @trilliontour
      @trilliontour  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really don't have the legal history of the land being purchased.
      Why, do you call the Whites Settlers?

    All of these counties have their own yellow machines to pave and maintain all roads. After rainy season that’s all we should see are those machines working ooo

    Why Liberians speak like people in Barbados? Honestly, I heard a Liberian woman on TH-cam, and I thought she was from Barbados. Very strange!

      Approx. 400 people from Barbados immigrated to Liberia in the late 1800s. They were the largest group of settlers from the Carribean. 2 of our presidents were from the Barclay family who immigrated from Barbados. So even though they were a relatively small group their accent seems to have had a big influence on the Liberian accent.

    River Gee was never part of Maryland in Africa. During the 1857, 1875 and 1910 war in Maryland at the time, only the Greebos were at war with the Americo Liberian in that part of Liberia

    All wrong history taught in our schools in Liberia. Look at the plantations in Liberia, it was chosen as farmland and people came to Liberia to work from the Americas.

    • @trilliontour
      @trilliontour  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, who has the actual story ??

    • @borncritic7122
      @borncritic7122 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @trilliontour Liberia was started by domestic politics of slaver and race in the USA and foreign policy interest. The American Colonization Society was the key to forming these back to Africa programs. There are many conflicting stories. However, any knowledge of how the west moves and the manipulation of those willing to follow will give you a more honest insight on both towns. One thing to note is the majority of free slaves were well educated in America and the government they set up was based on American logic with the yt man leading the way.

      @borncritic7122 You have a point there.
