Thank you so much Mark for showcasing the beauty of Africa. My mum and I have been a fan of yours since 2017, your vlogs promotes humanity, tolerance and love for everyone. The way you integrate with different cultures and traditions is expectational. I wish everyone in the world was as down to earth as you. I’m also from West Africa, precisely Freetown, Sierra Leone. It will be a great honour if you could visit Sierra Leone.

I'd like to thank my mother for making sure that everything went smoothly... The customary dance is known as Zolo, and it is a post-harvest dance of celebration. 🥳

Just so you get the best of your efforts, be sure that 'authentic' Gambian dishes are made for you ie no adaptations from Senegal or Nigeria. The Gambia is quite free flow making now the clothing, language and food all diminishing in originality. The Gambia are next to or indeed within Senegal and so have almost all things the same yet it is fact that the language and food has always had differences. As you've been to Senegal (great tour ✨) the food in The Gambia will look the same but there will be taste variation due to ingredients added or ommited and cooking steps or ingredient processing method. It would be beneficial to discuss this with your host prior to your arrival. 'Plead' for local authentic food hahaha. Thank you again, be blessed always 🙏🏽✨🍲🌶️🌶️

The intensity of the real chili, the vibrant dances, and the warm community welcome paint a vivid picture. Witnessing the meticulous preparation of local delicacies, like the guinea fowl, with utmost authenticity is truly captivating. The curiosity of the children and their genuine interactions add an extra layer of charm to the experience. From perfecting the porridge to the unique cooking techniques, every step showcases the cultural richness of these communities.
