Sorry if I sound a bit off in this video! I got sick while making it and still wanted to release this week, hopefully it's all cleared up by next week! :)
This is very true yeah, I neglected to mention it since it was obvious for Skarmory but looking back it's less obvious for a mon like Corviknight to run Iron Defense, thank you for clearing that up for me
Paradox Mon Hidden Abilities huh? I've had some ideas - Great Tusk: Early Bird - Scream Tail: Mold Breaker - Brute Bonnet: Defiant - Flutter Mane: Frisk - Slither Wing: Shield Dust - Sandy Shocks: Lightning Rod - Roaring Moon: Unnerve - Walking Wake: Inner Focus - Gouging Fire: Heatproof - Raging Bolt: Long Reach - Iron Treads: Sturdy - Iron Bundle: Anticipation - Iron Hands: Light Metal - Iron Jugulis: Infiltrator - Iron Moth: Liquid Ooze - Iron Thorns: Filter - Iron Valiant: Stalwart - Iron Leaves: Sharpness - Iron Boulder: Heavy Metal - Iron Crown: Justified Considering how all of them are more or less balanced by having a dead ability slot outside of specific circumstances, it didn't feel right to give most of them very useful abilities. Certain underperformers got some pretty nice Hidden Abilities like Iron Leaves and Iron Thorns, but otherwise I think it makes the most sense for these abilities to be situational sidegrades at best or actively inferior to Proto and Quark in certain cases like Flutter Mane, Iron Hands, and Raging Bolt, and Iron Bundle
I actually really like this list, mostly all thematically matching, not directly better than Proto/Quark in any way, but offers different play styles. Really well made list, love Defiant Brute Bonnet, would actually give it a niche instead of just being Amoongus if god hated it and U-Turn made it cry a fountain.
i can see the effort put into nerfing the ones that are obviously meta reliant, but i have a different thought. great tusk: sturdy or sheer force scream tail: pixilate brute bonnet: defiant or regenerator flutter mane: frisk slither wing: shield dust or multiscale sandy shocks: magnet pull roaring moon: intimidate walking wake: storm drain gouging fire: flash fire raging bolt: lightning rod iron treads: technician or sturdy iron bundle: ice body iron hands: galvanize or heavy metal iron jugulis: adaptability iron moth: filter or corrosion iron thorns: solid rock, sturdy, or sand stream iron valiant: justified, telepathy, or synchronize iron leaves: sharpness or justified iron boulder: solid rock or justified iron crown: technician or justified
I find it kind of funny that you gave gouging fire heatproof. That 4x resist really just ain't cutting it, eh? Jokes aside I do like the idea of the hidden abilities buffing the mons that need it and bring kind of useless to the mons that don't.
@@cinnamoone3553 252 SpA Choice Specs Technician Iron Crown Tachyon Cutter (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Corviknight: 202-238 (50.5 - 59.5%) -- approx. 78.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery Tech Boosted Iron Crown is a terrifying thought
I originally surprised that it was so powerful. I use a sharpness Iron Boulder on my team, so even if they used burning bulwark, I still got massive guaranteed damage. It was usually enough to scare them off. I also use a prankster topsy turvy malamar to stop it even if it sets up.
I think it is definitely arguable both ways, weather is a very very prominent force in OU right now, and Gouging Fire does very well inside of it, and just as good outside too. But I gotta say no matter what I'm just happy Entei got his get back after gen 2 made it one of the worst legends of all time in singles
@@EvelynIsBasedYeah it's the next suspect almost for sure lol. The bulky sets with breaking swipe (lets it beat dondozo and great tusk) combined with the obvious dd 3 attacks and sun sets are very strong and have very different checks.
Good stuff! Love to see someone making some interesting content about pokemon's niche metagames. And as for hidden abilities for the Paradox mons, I can't be the only one who thinks this, but Iron Leaves seems destined for Sharpness
Iron Leaves is definitely destined for Sharpness if it ever gets a hidden ability for sure, just fits perfectly. And thank you I'm glad you liked it! :)
I love the idea of giving the paradox Pokémon hidden abilities because it'd be so easy to do. All of the base mons they're based on have popular abilities that'd still work for what the paradox mon wants to do, except Iron Jugulis who I'd just give intimidate because levitate wouldn't make sense and that's the only balanced way I can think to make it interesting to use.
Paradox Pokemon with Hidden abilities? Bet... Great Tusk: Stamina Scream Tail: Punk Rock Brute Bonnet: Thick Fat Flutter Mane: Tangling Hair Slither Wing: Fluffy Sandy Shocks: Magnet Pull Roaring Moon: Berserk Walking Wake: Drizzle Gouging Fire: Drought Raging Bolt: Electric Surge Iron Treads: Speed Boost Iron Bundle: Slush Rush Iron Hands: Triage Iron Jugulis: Aerilate Iron Moth: Battery Iron Thorns: Iron Barbs Iron Valiant: Justified Iron Leaves: Grassy Surge Iron Boulder: Sand Stream Iron Crown: Psychic Surge
Iron Leaves setting up grassy terrain seems very ironic given it's Signature move, the whole 2 Iron Leaves fans are in tears right now And in other news Breaking News: Triage Iron Hands pops belly drum and then Drain Punches through an entire team, Gholdengo stocks rise
They're all pretty good too :) Here's a list of what I use: -Premiere Pro (Video Editing, Davinci Resolve is also a good free one) -Audacity (Voice Over)
I never cared for Desolate Land while Gouge was legal. Yeah, Morning Sun heals more, and Flare Blitz does more, but more Flare Blitz damage also means more recoil. You have more item variety for items as well, but the consequence free 30% boost while removing Flare Blitz recoil is just thay good and makes it to where losing your item, while still detrimental, isn't nearly as bad as it would be without Magic Guard
I don't like the precedent that if a pokemon has its checks removed AND gets a free turn that it should be banned because it wins from that position. basically every good offensive pokemon, ever meets that criteria.
Didn't mean to make it sound like that, it's more like if a pokemon only has two checks in a whole Metagame and then that pokemon dies and the Pokemon gets an automatic win, that's kinda broken. Like Archaludon for example, had a few counters, more than Gouging fire, but the moment those rare counters died, it would basically automatically win, that's Gouging Fire here.
There is Reuniclus who is sort of an Offensive Magic Guard user, though it's crippling speed and Psychic typing really hinders it in this gen where dark types are so prominent
Sorry if I sound a bit off in this video! I got sick while making it and still wanted to release this week, hopefully it's all cleared up by next week! :)
Corv loses to gouging if it’s not running iron defense, because with morning sun you can get +6 and beat it with dragon stab.
This is very true yeah, I neglected to mention it since it was obvious for Skarmory but looking back it's less obvious for a mon like Corviknight to run Iron Defense, thank you for clearing that up for me
one small error: Morning Sun recovers 66% health in sun, not 75%. other than that great video!
Oh thank you sorry, idk why I thought it was 75% when I was writing this
I love all the little sound effects you use throughout the video, theyre really cute!

Very nice but I'd replace scream tails ability to soundproof or punk rock, iron threads with bulletproof, y'know to match their designs abit
i can see the effort put into nerfing the ones that are obviously meta reliant, but i have a different thought.

Fun analysis video! The sound choice is nice & relaxing! Thanks for uploading!
Thank you! I appreciate it a lot :)
Gouging Fire is arguably broken in standard OU, probably will be the next suspect
I think it is definitely arguable both ways, weather is a very very prominent force in OU right now, and Gouging Fire does very well inside of it, and just as good outside too. Actually yeah true, it's late and I entirely forgot Breaking Swipe sets exist, there is a good chance of its ban then honestly

Paradox Pokemon with Hidden abilities?
Bet...

Sandy Shocks: Magnet Pull
Roaring Moon: Berserk

Gouging Fire: Drought

Iron Hands: Triage
Iron Jugulis: Aerilate
Iron Moth: Battery

Iron Leaves: Grassy Surge
Iron Boulder: Sand Stream

And in other news
Breaking News: Triage Iron Hands pops belly drum and then Drain Punches through an entire team, Gholdengo stocks rise
If all Paradox had access to a Hidden Ability, I wish Scream Tail got Huge Power because it would be funni
because it would be funni is the realest reason ever ngl
I actuall ran a own tempo gouging fire as it had access to raging fury and Outrage
Loved the vid i didnt even know they added more paradox pokemon 😂 and sidenote what do you use to edit your videos?
They're all pretty good too :)

-Premiere Pro (Video Editing, Davinci Resolve is also a good free one)

Nice vid. algorithm bump comment
And I thought gen 5 powercreep was bad

Flare Blitz i guess
Honestly, wish gamefreak made an offensive magic guard user. Not as buffed as this case ofc but it has potential.
There is Reuniclus who is sort of an Offensive Magic Guard user, though it's crippling speed and Psychic typing really hinders it in this gen where dark types are so prominent
Wouldn’t Alakazam count?
"by no means broken in ou" 🧢
Wrote this before the Breaking Swipe sets 😭
