pro tip: you did well to start each side separate, but you should let the cheese get mostly melted before adding a cold ingredient (tuna, ham, peppers, etc.). Nice clean stove!
people are so negative, this is how he does his and it looks good just add and delete what you like and don't like just looking at the comments I also got a number of additives and substitute spices that can be useful / I also added Monterey jack cheese on one side and smoke cheddar cheese on the other with a tomato added in I like variety, taste good too! Just do to your taste every individual is different remember that!
+Gloria Jordan Yep, I say that all the time. If you don't like that much mayo, don't add as much. You are the one making it so you make it the way you want it.
What a simple and yummy looking meal. Thanks so much for sharing. I thought it would be like a grilled cheese, but I wouldn't have though to put the lid on to help the heat warm the inside of the sandwich. Lovely video.
The only other thing some readers may enjoy is a slice of tomato in the tuna melt. This is what I do when making a grilled cheese sandwich. Just getting good nutrients into one's body. Never had a tuna melt before, but often see it on lunch menus at restaurants. Bravo
Looks really good! Now you got me craving a tuna melt! I like to use a little bit of pickle relish mixed with the tuna and mayo and a slice of either American, Cheddar, or Monterey Jack/Pepper Jack cheese. But, to each his own. Great video, nonetheless. Thanks, Tom.
Sears Roebuck had a restaurant when I worked there! I loved the tuna melts and coffee breaks. Eight hours of work allowed two fifteen minute breaks. A half hour lunch was also allowed.
Tom made your tuna melt sandwich don’t have the season you used so used basil it was loverly so once again thank you very much for the recipe Rhonda from Australia
Jon Greene I use Lightworks, it's a free open source editor used by the pros. It is very powerful, takes some getting used to but there are a lot of great tutorials on youtube showing how to use it. www.lwks.com
Tom thank you so much for this video on how to make a Tuna melt (I just finished eating mine and it was absolutely tasty)!! I know this may sound weird..........but I'm a newbie to cooking and your videos have made it easy for me to start preparing/cooking food for my family. Everything I have made (from your vids) has been so frick'in delicious!! Thank you!!
Never liked fish started to try weight loss so I'm trying tuna for the first time I get on TH-cam looking for a recipe something good and came across this I did the same thing cept I used a lime and yellow cheese it was amazing thank you my friend
Thanks, they are really good. You can make the tuna salad the way you like, I just make it this way. My wife insists, personally I like adding chopped jalapeno.
I will try this sandwich with less mayo, less spike (thanks for sharing spike, that is new to me), and more/different cheese! Thanks for the video, Tom! Happy eating :)
I love tuna melts Tom! The spike seasoning sounds awesome and seems like it has a lot of ingredients in it. Awesome sandwich and great studio lighting, really brightens things up ✖‿✖
Be aware that today cans of tuna contain 5 oz of tuna, not 7. A number of years ago, they reduced the tuna in a can to 6 oz. Then it went down to 5 oz (without lowering the price, of course!) About then, I quit buying tuna (which I love), and replaced it with mackerel. It tastes the same (they're the same family of fish), and costs a lot less. You just have to de-bone it. By the way, any sort of tuna salad is better if you add chopped ripe olives.
You're shopping at the wrong stores. Costco cans are always 7oz Kirkland Signature Solid White Albacore Tuna, 56 Ounce www.amazon.com/dp/B0056YT4M0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dva3zbJBHGCET
You know when your hungry? And someone else is making a sandwich? And it looks and smells 10x better than if you made it yourself? That's about how this feels.
yes this looks good. im from newzealand I have never come across the word 'melt' in reference to this kind of sandwich, we would call this a cheese toastie
With dill weed and chopped green onion is good in it as well or I think so its to each his own/tastes and like to have on toasted fancy-ish bread like croissant or other
Naaice, I was kinda drooling. I could smell the butter on the bread from here. But its too fatty, I guess i will add lesser of everything you said, esp mayo. Anyway thank you for sharing your recipe. God bless you.
thats very weird. theres only one mayonese. of course there is stuff in there so it survives longer in your frisge but mayonese is mayonese at least where i come from
Mouthwatering! I prepare my tuna melt with Tillamook Cheddar on both bread slices. So indulgent!

Some people just like to complain. Try to avoid those people in life.
Tomato in it sounds good. I’d add celery and onions. But like he said that’s how he likes it and that’s fine
I just made this. it was my first time having it. I added some celery it was soo good. Thanks for the video

I agree with everything you said until you mentioned olives, that is so wrong on so many levels
you're getting old if you think tuna is the same with mackerel. Go eat some more mackerel and let the tuna to the real food enthusiasts.
just got finished eating mackerel and crawfish. Fishy sorta night
You're shopping at the wrong stores. Costco cans are always 7oz Kirkland Signature Solid White Albacore Tuna, 56 Ounce www.amazon.com/dp/B0056YT4M0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dva3zbJBHGCET
Looks like a great mayo melt.
Going to try this today. Already got mixture in the fridge and gotta use Shredded cheese 😀😀 its gonna be good
Just wondering, how many minutes do you typically let the bread cook on each side?
Looks good!
LittleJerryFan92 2-4 mins depending how toasty you like it
Hellman's has a version with Olive Oil that goes great for Tuna sandwhiches too. Good video, thanks!
The lighting looks good and now I know why my sandwiches are so good because I cut them all diagonally :-)
It does make a difference doesn't it.

Good stuff needed some protein after my workout and all I had was canned tuna at my house! Made it with pepper jack and some red pepper flakes 🌶
Yum, sounds good, I love pepper jack.
Try the same sandwich tightly pressed into a well buttered G Foreman grill. Good results.
Adding this video to my "watch later" so I can make it later :)

Naaice, I was kinda drooling. I could smell the butter on the bread from here. But its too fatty, I guess i will add lesser of everything you said, esp mayo.
Anyway thank you for sharing your recipe. God bless you.
Alfred Thomas Thanks. Yes Alfred, you make it the way you want. I like a lot of mayo in mine, just cut back or use a light or low-fat mayo.
Thank you for the inspiration. Looks great! :)
great stuff gonna try this.
why does the glas say real mayonnaise on it ?? is there something like unreal mayonnaise in america ??
Tony Montana I think it's just a marketing gimmick.
Yes... MOST sandwich spreads are made of FAKE MAYO, which has extra sugar to make it more appealing to kids.
thats very weird. theres only one mayonese. of course there is stuff in there so it survives longer in your frisge but mayonese is mayonese at least where i come from
Köllefornia 4711 mayonaise* fridge*
