  • Cold baths have been used as a therapy for depression for more than 100 years. The Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh, while in an asylum, was prescribed two cold baths a day. The body releases chemicals in response to cold exposure and specific breathing techniques that act to suppress inflammatory cytokines. Reducing inflammation may be beneficial for a variety of physical and mental conditions. In this clip, Wim Hof shares his personal story that led to his passionate pursuit of how we can harness the body's innate ability to heal itself.

    Depression is hell. I’m talking the real thing where you feel dreadful about yourself and without hope. It’s very scary

    I am Mexican. My family and parents are from Mexico and have had a long history of trauma and PTSD and sexual abuse. I had a high functioning depression for many years and I coped and formed with it in many ways. It was like 2 sides of me. Part of me was happy and positive. Another half was sad and depressed. No matter how hard I tried I could feel that depression underneath. Ive been to therapists in the military and talked to professionals and they all told me I was okay but deep down I wasn't happy.
    Cold showers is helping!!! Slowly day by day I am feeling more emotion and joy. Also I have been feeling for motivation and drive to improve, learn, work and get up in the morning and I am sleeping better and recovering faster from my workouts.
    No more hot showers!! Thank you Wilm Hof!!

    It absolutely works I have Anxiety inflammation in the gut and Chronic Sinusitis that’s constant drainage from my right nostril all year long. I have tried all the nasal and pills NEVER AGAIN. I started doing more homeopathic way of living no chemicals no pain relievers But when I go on the Wim HOFF method, Breathing 3 rounds and Cold therapy showers as cold as it can go doesn’t matter the month I live in Pennsylvania. Inflammation goes away I can feel nothing in my gut it just feels normal also I don’t have to blow my nose all day that lasted for months after I stoped as well. My anxiety is so minimal I can’t even tell you I had it. You wouldn’t know. I’m calm I feel energetic stamina energy is pouring off me no pain in the joints, clarity. You get hyper focused on goals and achieve much more in a days time. Trust me I’m just a huge fan because I stumbled across Wim HOFF and actually tried it and it worked. Like WOW! ❤

      I have anxiety, constant bloating in my stomach, and also have bad problems with my sinuses. Was looking for a comment like yours to see if it helps with these problems.Couldn't believe I found one so quick! haha. Anyways, how's it going now? Still, doing the cold showers? Still not having anxiety? Anxiety is the worst out of the three for me. Hope all is well! ✌

      @@coltseavers5174 Everything is still going well, actually did the therapy last night I was able to breath clearly all night long and definitely have had no anxiety whatsoever! Cold therapy works and if you pair it with deep belly breathing it’s a anxiety killer 100% best to do 2 to 3 rounds before the cold exposer I have learned I don’t have to go as cold for this to work but slowly go cold

    silly question: exposure to cold for too long does not cause rheumatism and/or coxarthrosis ?
    I always heard staying in the cold too much could cause that, or just a myth ?

    For Van Gogh the cold water was, unfortunately, clearly not a cure.

  • @chriskopec526
    @chriskopec526 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Well if Van Gogh did cold exposures and he ended as he did then maybe it is not such remedy to everything?

      It's not a cure all. You still have to do the work on where the issue is coming from. The cold water is a tool.

      It's all relative. It's possible that without cold showers he would have stabbed himself in the throat years prior to his death.
