  • Lino Jubilado has been fly fishing in the Los Angeles River for over 40 years. Though most LA residents view the river as a polluted eyesore, to Lino, it’s a slice of nature’s paradise hidden within a big, bustling city. Amongst the trash and the concrete, Lino fly fishes for carp, bass and bluegill. But it’s the joy of catching carp that keeps Lino coming back to the river several times a week. Lino doesn’t usually eat the carp he catches from the LA River, but today is unusual.

    The fact that this guy probably glows in the dark must be a great advantage when night fishing.

    Steelhead were caught in the LA River until the 1940s, and they hang on elsewhere in SoCal. Wouldn't it be great to see them return?

    Going for a a bike ride there today- but I'm eating a Giamela's sandwich and NOT an LA River carp. I've seen people kayak through Frogtown in the spring.

      People in Cali are a bunch of hypocrites. They broke their state with their idiotic policies and are now spreading, like cancer, to all republican states, bringing their mentally retarded policies with them

    • @5oeren217
      @5oeren217 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeJulius_Caesar I guess the republican states get more social and you dislike it. Well you wouldn´t be happy in Europe. People don´t have to starve, when they are unlucky and we (at least try for the most part) to be more environment friendly.
      Oh and don´t get me wrong I like the US, they just could be better.

    • @DeJulius_Caesar
      @DeJulius_Caesar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@5oeren217 Survival of the fittest. Some people are not meant to succeed, because they simply don't strive to do so. So, why waste resources on them?

    • @5oeren217
      @5oeren217 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeJulius_Caesar Humanity only evolved or maybe even only survived, because of cooperation. And you assume, that skills and the use for the society are genetic. They are partly genetic but mostly the influence from your environment (school, the care and support from your parents and country) determine how useful you are. For example when I was younger I took part in a school exchange. Still needed to pay 40€ (also 40$) for the flight, but the EU paid for the most part. I grew because of that as a human being and will probably be able to work better in the future and pay society back.
      A better example is a region, which mainly made money by coal mining, but because that has no future (climate change) and the resources where gone the government invested massively in new infrastructure and modern companies in this region. The people stayed and got new/better jobs, which is a good value for society. Without the support by the government the region would be dead af.
      Of course is the free market important, but you need to support good things as a society (government).
      There are also many examples in which the government should let the market deal with it by itself. It depends on the circumstances. Have a good day :)
