The cast away guy Jeremy was referring to that they happened upon, I've worked with that guy's brother before. He had apparently taken his boat out for the day as he would usually but wanted to find a new spot to fish at. He didn't take any gps or maps with him as he thought he had reasonable knowledge of the area, however became lost after losing his boat. He spent 3 or 4 days on this tiny island that literally had nothing on it, no trees, no animals just sand and rock. He eventually spotted some turtles and started to swim out to them to catch them, then Jeremy and his filming crew started cruising around the corner of this deserted island and saw this guy. Very fortunate.
The fly fishing part was very generic and it sounded like he did a quick google search on fly fishing while he was explaining it but that’s my only critique.
I fished with Jeremy Wade. Then went to Wendy’s in a minivan late at night to get some food. Really nice guy and down to earth. Good hearted authentic person was my impression. 10 out of 10 would fish with him again
Jeremy has led such an amazingly crazy life. Multiple aviation crashes, being arrested for being a spy... so many more. He may actually be the most interesting man in the world.
Jeremy Wade is also a very good writer. I really recommend his book "River Monsters" - there he vividly describes his adventures before the TV series and details out of his private life. A must for everybody loving Jeremy.

I wouldn't expect him to age much.. My current theory is that, for catching so many enormous and dangerous fish, he gained the blessing of Poseidon and may or may not be some form of fishing related Demigod.. But, that's just a theory, at least until he smites someone.
Man Vs. wild, survivor man, Myth busters, Deadliest catch, brain games, dinosaur planet, and River monsters were my child hood. The man has never aged a day!
The main thing I see wrong with fishing in TV and movies is that everything is usually too clean and organized. They'll have some kid who fishes every day at a local pond or whatever, and all his tackle looks like it was bought that morning. You never see anyone pull a tangled gob of lures out of a tackle box. You never see stuff that looks beat up and decades old.
I occasionally clean my lures and tackle box. But most of the time the way you described is how it looks. I think on film they just have props that they use because you know tackle boxes can be pretty noisy. And they don't want actors to get hurt, for fear of liability.
With such a long off-season, I get plenty of time to clean my tackle boxes! My ice fishing boxes are cleaned in the summer, and my summer boxes cleaned in the winter!
Fly fishing is an art. A art that's learned over time. I love fly fishing. My dad taught me how to do it. I think the greatest thing is being able to put that fly in places that you can never get a regular fishing pole into. And to watch the line lay down on the top of the water is something else. I could keep going but if you fly fish you already know what I'm talking about.

River Monsters is still my favorite show of all time. I grew up on the Fox River and never really gave any thought to diving right into the water. This show put the fear of God in me. To this day I will not go in unless it absolutely has to be done.
My brother loved watching Jeremy and managed to get me into River Monsters despite my indifference towards fishing (no disrespect, I’m just not an outdoorsy person). My brother was an excellent fisherman which amazed me because no one else in our family ever caught anything over a couple inches long!

Fishing genuinely is the most underrated outdoor sport. The amount of patience my grandfather raised onto me through fishing helped me stay calm during some really edgy moments of my life.
I grew up an hour south of where A River Runs Through It is set. It will always have a special place in my heart, and is a big part of what got me into fly-fishing. If you have never spent an entire day hiking up and down a river, you haven't lived.

My brother loved watching Jeremy and managed to get me into River Monsters despite my indifference towards fishing (no disrespect, I’m just not an outdoorsy person). My brother was an excellent fisherman which amazed me because no one else in our family ever caught anything over a couple inches long!
Jeremy Wade is such an underrated person. There isnt many videos like this about Jeremy Wade. When there is it doesn’t get many views. He’s filming a new tv show called unknown waters and I couldn’t find much about it.
I rarely fish, but this guy and river monsters is so iconic. I always say fish-on whether I have a fish or not on my line lol.
We need Jeremy Wade on Joe Rogan podcast. Bet he has some cool stories.

I’ve grown up watching River Monsters and this man was one of the reasons of my life long curiosity for the natural world. So glad to see him again spreading his knowledge and wisdom to people. Great move for sure!
Fishing genuinely is the most underrated outdoor sport. The amount of patience my grandfather raised onto me through fishing helped me stay calm during some really edgy moments of my life.

I feel like if Jeremy Wade was the Old Man in the sea he woulda brought in the giant fish and the shark that tried to eat his catch.

I grew up an hour south of where A River Runs Through It is set. It will always have a special place in my heart, and is a big part of what got me into fly-fishing.
If you have never spent an entire day hiking up and down a river, you haven't lived.

i actually met the person who caught all the trout for the movie, as well as teacher leonardo dicaprio to fish, really cool japanese guy who now works at a fly fishing business in silverthorne colorado, his stories about the movie are incredible!
