Doorknob LA county is huge. Like most places it has good areas and bad. You can tell when it’s good or bad, there’s a huge difference. But the area he’s in is far from “unsafe” the locals are more likely to call the cops on him then for him to get robbed
Try getting your camper windows limo tinted, or buy some more of those reflectors and cut them to the size and ahape of the windows then use velcro tape to stick it up against the windows for privacy and that way no one can see your inside when sleeping or what not. Stay safe out there dude!

Those anchor points are for swiftwater rescue teams for people who get swept away. ,and that is the ballona creek outlet. (Sewage water run off from los angeles) still you can catch some nice fish out there!
Love the videos dude, I hope you stay safe in LA - I've stayed in my truck a few times there with no issues, but times are tough and people are desperate. If you're in the Pismo area, let me know, got a safe place for you to park, fish, and recharge the batteries.

Hey Mav, welcome to So Cal. Shore fishing in LA can be pretty tough. I've lived in LA but am from and currently live in San Diego so I definitely recommend heading down to the 619. My guess is you probably hooked a spotted bay bass. In those rocky conditions you need set the hook fast and keep your rod tip high. They'll try to dive back in a crevice and get you snagged. A round stingray likely picked up your bait rig, likely a small one that mouthed the bait and didn't swallow it. The school of fish you saw swimming were likely mullet if they were darker, or smelt if the were lighter/more silvery. It helps to know the tidal shifts to target specific species activity. Really recommend coming down to SD, not only is there lots of opportunity for beach, jetty, pier, rental boat bay, and sport fishing boat trips ranging from half day up to two week tuna trips and everything in between. But there is also great largemouth bass fishing in the local reservoirs. Our impoundments in San Diego are quite small compared to where your from, but most stock trout in spring and winter and they are basically growing pills for the largemouth. Look up the lake records for all the lakes in San Diego (Otay which is my home lake, Miramar, Poway, Murray, Cuyamaca, San Vicente, Hodges, Dixon, El Capitan, etc they all are fish over 15 lbs, some over 20. Be safe on your journey and keep up the great content. Here's to being bent in the corner! Wishing you fair weather and tight lines...

That's the ugly part of trophy bass fishing, folks like him get caught up in the glory. There are plenty of real catches that folks should get credit for.
Size 4 hooks (small hooks)and green peas for opal eye perch.Sabiki rigs for mackerel and smelt and the occasional jack mackerel welcome to cali.

Button down that drag. You likely hooked a spotted bay bass (think of pissed off largemouth bass). They will run you straight into the rocks every time which is what happened. You have to button it down and get them out before they break you off.
I messaged you on insta but eddie jetty is your man. He has a youtube channel as well and fishes Marina Del Rey all the time.
No squid needed, you can use bass lures in that area
Oh and best taco spot is King Taco. Their red sauce is to die for
You should come down to San Diego try fishing some spots in the back bay where not too many people fish. You never know what you might get, halibut, corvina, croaker, bonefish and of course bass too

Marina Del Rey, you should have just used sweat peas and a size 16 hook, slip on light bobber and you shoulda caught all the Opaleye you saw, I go there and hit about 6-10 good sized eating Opals.

Hey mav like what you're doing. Just a suggestion you should take the clicker off when you cast your shimano tekota. You will be able to cast farther. After you cast turn the clicker back on and open it up and you won't have to worry about loosing your set up

Invest in a hoopnet ,your allowed 2 nets on a pier add stinky mackerel or fish for bait and crab while you fish .Also your allowed 32 crabs per person get a crab /lobster measure to measure your crabs,fishing for lobster you need a reportcard.Must be in season for lobster but crabs are year round good luck.

Try newport harbor. Theres some fun catching spotted bass there, sometimes halibut and the famous "Wedge" is right around where the harbor goes out to the ocean if u want to see crazy people take on those deadly waves

So if you stay in a highly populated are make sure everything is locked and secured , polorized windows go a long way and front window covers for regular parking
There are many nice reservoirs around LA I live near Castaic lake and pyramid lake and the striped bass and largemouth bite is 🔥rn you should try them out if you’re still in the area there are some monster fish here in SoCal. Keep it up!

you are nowhere near LA but is ok because that's near Los Angeles and I've recently visited that spot and its a beautiful place to fish!
Downtown LA is approximately 20-30 minutes from the ocean haha.
Try the Los alamitos river. I catch a shit ton of stuff out of it. It’s tough fishing around here. But I have some good spots I could show you. I live 15 mins from where your at. Also spotted bass are easy with jerk baits.
If your still in Cali ,hit me up I’ll get you on some fish. Golden trout in the high Sierra , ocean fishing, largemouth or stripped bass.
