    This was one of my inspirations to buy a 3WT rod and reel to add to my 8WT combo. I wanted to use the 3WT for panfish in lakes in my housing development and ended up catching peacock bass.

    G’day, I’ll have to admit, I’ve always been a devout trout fly fisherman, but a local lake here in Australia has me hooked on targeting Carp. The lake is meant to hold stocked trout and bass, but I’ve only ever caught enormous Carp, which keep me coming back. They put up a hell of a fight, usually 20-25mins before I can get them in on my 6wt. It’s a moral dilemma every time I catch one, as a condition of my fishing license states that I need to kill them, as they are a ‘pest’ species. I don’t kill them, just let them go, which probably the reason there’s no bass or trout. Anyway, thanks for the informative video as usual. BTW I’ve found the Carp fly that works the best for me is a black egg sucking leech pattern with an orange egg...works a treat here! Cheers 🍻

      BUSHCRAPPING hey man I've seen some of your vids I think, anyway you guys across the pond have it easy in America carp are considered trash fish and to make catching them both fun and quick we must chum ridiculously to get them going, very few carping fanatics are here in the u.s and it saddens me at times. Tight lines and good luck

      poor mans bonefish. I grew up on the pomptain river in wayne , NJ. It was loaded with carp, smallies &, bream. I didn't fly fish back then. AN hour-hour & a half before sunset was the garranteed ticket for carp. with all the snags in the river ( fallen trees , etc.) & their delicate lips.hold on , quite the challenge.

    Great stuff. Love this video. I live in a great fishery, with all sorts of species, but still make time to play with panfish. One thing though..................I cringe every time I see a kid fishing without sunglasses/eye protection. (th-cam.com/video/C-Vh6roNcxE/w-d-xo.html). This Orvis series of videos has been stellar!

    If I may just mention one thing that I've always thought to be part of ethics. Do not cast to a fish if you do not know how you are going to land it. We have to fish some cliffs and sometimes very difficult terrain that makes if very challenging to find a place to land fish. It is a spoken rule with us, you do not cast to fish if you do not have a way to land it. It is unfair to the fish, needlessly tiring the fish and potentially causing it harm due to a very long a dragged out battle.
    I'm not being critical, it is just common sense, do not cast to a fish if you cannot land it!

    • @oceanexploration
      @oceanexploration 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FYI, he landed it with a net. He had a plan. Part of English is admittedly odd. Just because he said he didn't know how he was going to land the fish, didn't mean he didn't know how he could. He meant that he didn't think it was likely that he would land the fish. Again, English is strange. Tom is very good with handling fish ethically.

      @xTylerrrrrr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you expect someone to learn? Not everyone has the resources to learn other than trial and error. Teach them.
