I don't know why people think they have to tear down these historic structures when it seems to me like they could just refurbish the interior some and keep the historical significance alive

Would have been one of his last outings.
A man I was friends with a long time ago, bumped into Elvis, sans entourage.
They just said hello to each other.
He (my friend) passed away since. It may have been late 1976, I really think it was early 1977.

@@martin77722 He Elvis was actually secreted in by his team, to a locally well regarded facility in my country (a city iirc founded by Scottish immigrants) where he could detox for a week or two.
My friend was sent there to work on the buildings plumbing, and saw Mr Presley in (plain) pjs walking around, instantly recognisable, and quietly said
"Hello, Elvis" I don't think anything else.
I said you should have sat down and chatted and got his autograph!!
"No one was to know he was there, it wasn't in the news, I wasn't supposed to know, so I pretended I didn't figure it out"
Just quietly nodded and said hello to him and he smiled back and returned the greeting.
I was still on the younger side..
      (he told me)
"Elvis had to been taking Pep Pills frequently to be able to dance around under the hot lighting in those big costumes night after night.. & it took a toll on his health and he needed a break and get the junk out of his system"
I'm sure that hospital has seen a few dozen very famous people since, & yet.
They have one of the best Alcohol Treatment programs in the country.
Seeing how he passed, & only months after leaving that facility, it's clear to me now,
He should have been there a few months not 2 weeks.. the detox treatment would have barely got underway...
He might be with us today had the entertainment industry got out of the way & let him recover fully.

This would have been before The Westin was built across from Cincinnati Fountain Square. The Westin is now on the opposite side of the corner of the street Elvis crossed, behind him. The Omni Netherland is a very elegant Art Deco Hotel in downtown Cincinnati which is why they probably had Elvis stay there. And in 1977 he played Riverfront Collesium, which is about 4 or 5 blocks from the hotel. I can tell you right now why he would have hated it to his core; aside from the 1920s ambiance and Art Deco style, which I can't see Elvis being comfortable in, it is adjacent to what was known then as Pogue's Arcade. Pogue's was a Cincinnati local department store. The "arcade" joined the Pogue Department store with the Omni Netherland building. It was filled with gift shops and diner/deli restaurants. It was that long labyrinth of hallways you went down and around from the service elevator to get to the parking garage. Elvis was used to going through the back kitchens to service elevators and straight to the garage without being caught in a crowd. Gosh, Elvis staying at Stouffer's is like staying at a Ramada Inn! Too funny. No wonder he was so angry.

I stayed at the Hilton Netherlands Hotel the evening prior to my induction into the U.S. Air Force in March 1975. I'm happy to hear the folks there were hospitable and treated you well. On a historical note the Cincinnati Hilton was originally constructed in 1937 and is currently the oldest hotel in the Hilton chain. As a lifetime Elvis fan I appreciate your dedication and the service you provide. Please keep up the good work.

I was working at the Netherland Hilton as F.O.M. When this happened. I was on the phone when the director of sales came into my office all excited while I was on the phone. He said he just saw Elvis walk through the lobby with a woman on each arm and he left. Later found out he went to Stopher’s. My boss and I went to his room and it was hot [old fashion heating and cooling). The only thing left was a prescription receipt. He checked in at Stophers. His entorouge took up a whole lower floor. The elevator was rigged so you could’nt get on the floor without using the stairway.

Not sure if he stayed at any hotels in 75 & 76. He did play in Hartford once as well. I knew they lady that food catered his '76 shows in New Haven. I have more to that story. If interested lmk! This is how life and anything in it's own way goes. Now, Elvis is gone and that building and many building that he has performed in. Now, he is his box in craceland not even a body with flesh but only the bones or skeleton left. But, while he was alive he was who he was and he had a life just like any living human being but he made those movies and performed his concerts so with that ok, he left something behind that most people who die don't do. Even now, in Ukraine and Israel and Gaza wow, People dying everyday and they haven't left anything behind, maybe just a few memories that the family members who still live will have. So this life, what is it really all about ? Many say, life has no meaning but if it has, it goes only 3 generations and that's it 😢 But, while you live ok, so for those who has a some kind of good life in it's own way ok, blessings to them all ❤😂

He was coming to Huntington, WV in September 1977. People still have their tickets. It was a new big place called The Huntington Civic Center. Elvis was going to be the first. And supposedly a statue was going to be erected of him. But never happened. The Civic Center is still there, it used to headline top artists etc. I went to 2 big concerts there in the 80s and 90s. And once an all night Gospel Sing. Many well known Gospel groups. Elvis also was going to be here at a wedding but he got sick. I forgot what year that was. It was at a church on Adams Ave. Huntington, WV. The Gardners had the church back then. Landy Gardners parents.

    Hey Shug!
I hope y'all had a good time at the Netherlands Plaza Hotel... Not only is it loaded with history, would you believe it only took six months to be built and opened?
It's one of the few Art Deco MASTERPIECE buildings left in Ohio.
I hope y'all got to see the cool ballrooms and the incredible dining room/bar.
Oh... I hope you guys went up to the observation deck (theeee top!)
The staff at the hotel are great folks... Even if you're just in there to look at the place.
Also in downtown Cincy are the old Herzog Studio, where Hank recorded several of his earliest hits... And the remnants of the old King Records studio, where MANY of the great early Country and Rockabilly records were cut... Several of the Sun Records guys even cut there.
Hope all is well with you!

Elvis was always a sharp dresser the last year he spent largely in. Jogging suit and the unflattering Mayan Jumpsuit he just seemed to accept the new unglamorous Elvis with no fight to get back into good health very sad

Like I said the other day if I saw Elvis walking down the sidewalk I would probably cause a accident. You and Mr. Trey always tighten up and go a little bit deeper behind the scene in the story Mr. Spa Guy. Another great building going by the way side. Thank you both. Be safe and well. Lord bless you and yours.

Nice video and those buildings are so beautiful. They used to build with style and details. They also give you a feeling, even if you have never been there. Really nice of you to show us this where Elvis once went. Would have loved to be there. Greetings from the Netherlands.

I hate Basketball and it’s dope fiend players, but I love your interest in Elvis Historical Events and Travels. That’s why I subscribe. Honestly, to attend a Kansas City Chiefs game is $80+ just for parking alone. I will never pay that, and I won’t ever attend a Chiefs game, but I would gladly have paid it to have seen Elvis. He actually gave you a good feeling to be in his presence, but no Basketball team or any of its players do anything for us.

Thanks again for the walk a long.
Do you know why Elvis changed Hotels? He looks upset in the picture walking across the street.
I can’t imagine standing on the sidewalk seeing Elvis cross the street back in the day.
The empty land is Kidda sad. So much history in that one spot.
    Thanks again
