Imagine someone as high profile as Elvis staying in a place like that these days....it would not happen, a security nightmare. Hasn't the world changed. Good work SG👍
I actually played in a high school basketball tournament 2 weeks before Elvis came to Freedom Hall. I remember seeing posters on the walls promoting the concerts! It was very exciting to think Elvis was going to be in the same building!
Billy,I live in Bristol and Ilived here in bristol all my life.A couple of facts,a buissness man name of Jack trayer owned this hotel and several minute marts in the tri-cities area. He is deceased now 2.The car was used the 1st nite, and because of the croud was so heavy and the second and 3rd nites the cowards was even bigger,so they had to use the bus, It was crazy.I was at the 1st concert.great concert. 3rd the bridge story I am not aware of. Thanks so much, you do a great job.PS If you want to see the 1st concert go to youtube ,type in Elvis march 17 1976.
The bridge story is not true.. I lived across the street.. That short bit of pavement was always there... where the pool was located, apartments backed up to that area. I did jump off the wall to see Elvis on the bus.. Gosh... so long ago..
Love this video! The look on your face when you walked "in the steps of Elvis" was priceless! You sure do enjoy sharing these stories with us fans! Love it! 😂

Was awesome to see all those people who had gathered at the hotel when Elvis was there. What comes across to me when I watch this video is the fact that Ejvis was really loved of his fans.
Thank you Billy for some more great info about E. Thank God this place still stands from the history stand point. You would never now that was a Hotel back in the day. Hello to Ted✌️

Elvis was careful to have a plan to get out safely in case there was trouble. Thank you Spa Guy for all this important information. Keep up the great work!
Tremendous footage and great work! I live in Knoxville and I was fortunate enough to have seen Elvis twice in Knoxville, as a kid with my parents, in March of 1974 and again 3 months before he died in May of ‘77. I use to work with a guy that lives in Johnson City and as a kid he remembers attending the March ‘76 show at Freedom Hall with his mother. Thanks so much for posting!
You're the best billy i mean theee best akways tightening up in everything you do on Elvis Presley thanks and GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND !!!!!! Keep safe there billy tuanks again !!!! Love yaaaaa !!!!
I just love all these videos of where Elvis stayed. Thanks for all your investigating. We would never be able to see any of this if it wasn’t for you. And its great how you just take your time and explain things, never rushing. Makes me feel like I’m right there with you (and the King)!
Another fine Video, Billy. Once again I find it fascinating that some of these places still exist today. Like in this Video, some of them still look exactly the same today. It's like going into a time machine and looking back into a time passed. Great work Billy.
You guys Rock! Just the best. Like the story of that bridge made just for Elvis to escape the crowds. Tidbits like that are national treasures, man! Thank you for all you do! TCB ⚡
SG it's cool to see you having fun. You pass that onto the viewer. Really love these videos! Would've been cool to see inside the penthouse, but I get it. Nice of the guy to take yall upstairs!
That is so cool !! I remember back when they had those square brick walls that are going up those stairs . They were real popular back then . I sure was hoping he was going to let you see the inside of the rooms where Elvis stayed , but that's okay . At least we got to see where Elvis stayed at the Holiday Inn / Days Inn and like you said, " Praise The Lord they didn't tear it down . Thank you Spa Guy and Tennessee Ted for sharing another great video with us !! I hope I get to see this in person someday too .
I was in Bristol many years ago to see an Elvis Tribute artist named Eddie Miles, now retired. His show was at the holiday Inn, so when i saw this, i thought it was in the location where i saw him. It's not, plainly...his show was at the Big Modern hotel. I wish i had known then that this location was here. Could have gone. I ALWAYS look forward to your videos...ESPECIALLY your Elvis videos! I especially like the Elvis videos that are like this. Places he was and stayed...and when you show the comparison photos. LOVE IT Billy!!
@@leannbrooks218 yup...I saw him many times at Memories also. Then in Myrtle Beach. He was good...but EVERYONE takes a back seat to Elvis. They all know that though. 😊
Holy crap, my friend. You're opening up my eyes up to amazing history around me that I never would have known. I pass by so many of the cool places you point out and I've been completely oblivious to it all. Thank you!
I love this story! We hear once again of Elvis’ great kindness for others. A $500 tip was really big for that date in time! It’s still big to me. Lol Thank you Billy, I appreciate your stories so much. ♥️......hey Billy, you need to come to Shreveport. There are all kinds of connections to Elvis here. And James Burton lives here and is the nicest guy in the world. He would probably talk with you. D.J. Fontana’s family is here. Lots of great stories from Louisiana Hayride to small stories, like Elvis donating a swimming pool the Forbing Boys Ranch. I could go on.......think about it.
My Grandparents lived in Bristol, TN. when I was a young kid, 1960's-early 70's. Tennessee Ernie Ford was from there, and we would drive past his house to go to my Grandparents house which was about a mile or two past his house. Through the years when we would visit, we saw Ernie a couple different times in his car pulling out of his driveway. I haven't been to Bristol since my Grandparents moved from there in the early 70's. I haven't thought about Bristol in a long long time so this video has brought back a few memories for me (although non related to this videos subject).
Hey Billy you’re awesome, I think when it was a holiday inn,the walkways where not as long. And some how the entire building was remodeled through the years. Thank you Billy for keeping our memories of Elvis alive.
Greetings from Brisbane Australia! You are brilliantly incredibly awesome. Always enjoying your videos and always looking forward to your posts. Been an Elvis fan for 60 years and have always followed everything about Elvis, all time greatest singer, entertainer, generous human spirit. Great video Spa Guy ❤ Wouw, Red West right there with him, just one year before Elvis' passing , can 't imagine their falling out and with that book their was no turning back, such a tragedy that all happened while they were so close for so many years.
It’s crazy but we are down to maybe 5 Memphis mafia guys left. The spa guy really does a heck of a job keeping the Elvis group and fans together. Thanks Billy
Awesome!! I was 14 yrs old when Elvis came here and did 3 shows...Wed. Thurs. and Fri. night. my mother picked me up from Vance Jr. high on Wed. Afternoon and we went directly to the Holiday Inn, sat in, what was at that time, the Volunteer restaurant, where the current auto is now. We sat in a booth next to Elvis' Dad, Vernon Presley, and his " Memphis Mafia". We waited for 5 hrs for Elvis to come out. White car the first night, bus the next 2 nights. We are actually in your photo of him getting in the white car. Mom almost touched him lol. We saw his show on Fri. Night. One of my coolest childhood memories. Thank you posting this!!
Hi Billy 😊, Awesome find, So happy for you, that you got to film, and the manager took you up to see the penthouse, that was incredible! Thank you so much for sharing this with us, I appreciate it! Just imagine Elvis was right there, just so amazing it's still there! Smiles 😀 your friend Bonnie!

Fascinating Billy fascinating you keep Elvis‘s memories alive man God bless you always always fun and fascinating to watch I love it can’t get enough of it🎸🙏
Another great video Spa Guy. You do some great work finding all these things about Elvis. I think you were meant to be a Elvis detective. Keep em coming.
Once again you’ve excelled yourself, thank you so much! All I can say is WOW but I’m absolutely GUTTED that you couldn’t show us around the actual room Elvis stayed in☹️that guys housekeeping probably wasn’t up to scratch haha T.C.B⚡️
Spa Guy Yea I’m aware of that but it would of been great if he could have shown you about! That’s why I said “his housekeeping mustn’t be up to much”!! T.C.B⚡️
Hi this is Bonnie Foerster I'm Salt Lake City Utah once again you blew me out of the water with this video boy how interesting this was it's amazing how you can backtrack all those years and find a place where Elvis stayed has truly amazing I found this so interesting as I said I have been in office fan since I've been about 12 or 13 years old and I am almost 76 years young in fact I will be 76 years young November 24th have 20/20 I've always loves a king first for his good looks obviously is a kid then for his music and then for his acting ability and then for all three As I Grew Older I learn to love him for different reasons are so many reasons most of all because of the man he was as she walked upon this Earth it's just a man what a man he was I would love to go to Graceland and see the home he built someday wishes to come true thank you for sharing this amazing video take care my friend and stay well happy holidays❤🎶❤
Great investigative work sir! Hopefully someday you’ll come to my neck of the woods, Syracuse, NY! Elvis played two shows at the Syracuse War Memorial in 1976! He stayed at the Hotel Syracuse! I know that because it was all over the media back then! Syracuse loves Elvis! TCB ⚡️❤️🤍💙
Another awesome video, Billy. You never fail to provide such interesting history and information. Elvis returned to Johnson City and played Freedom Hall again on February 19th, 1977. I wonder if he stayed here for that concert, and if the bridge was used then? Or, perhaps since it was only a single concert, he simply flew in, and just flew to the next venue the same day.
I would say it was built for him did you see all the fans there.omg! I'm glad I'm a truck driver. No wonder he went into hiding. He had no life. Awesome job! Simply the best!!
How cool is that. More history on Elvis. I wonder where that bridge went to ? Or if anyone has a pic of Elvis on it or on the other side ? The spa guy will solve the mystery.
What an awesome video, as always! I love these videos where you have the old photos to compare with, and when you visit the places he went to! I had the best week of my life in april when i finally could go from Sweden to Memphis and visit many of the places that you filmed. I think of my trip to Memphis every day since I got back home, and your videos makes me wanna go back so much more! Keep posting your awesome videos, and tighten up! // Fredrik from Sweden👏🏻🇸🇪
Wow I live in Bristol TN and this place is like five minutes from my house. Never knew the King stayed there. Nice to know!
Imagine someone as high profile as Elvis staying in a place like that these days....it would not happen, a security nightmare. Hasn't the world changed. Good work SG👍
In 1976 it was the Holiday Inn and it was nice back then. I live about three miles from the hotel and the Penthouse was super nice in 76.
I actually played in a high school basketball tournament 2 weeks before Elvis came to Freedom Hall. I remember seeing posters on the walls promoting the concerts! It was very exciting to think Elvis was going to be in the same building!
