    Thanks for the honesty. I have a music + video home studio so cables are everywhere and adding each day. I did a search on cable management on TH-cam and all of them were a joke to the amount of cables I deal with everyday.

  • @ChipBeforePC

    Becki excellent video overall with simple logical approach... With that being said there are three hypertechnical points... 1) UPS is an acronym for Uninterruptible Power Supply ( you said "Uninterrupted" at 4:45 ) ... 2) Ideally UPS runtime (i.e. no power) should provide a minimum of 90 minutes at full load based upon total of manufactures' maximum watts or voltage amps for each piece of equipment powered. This allows for additional equipment to be added and the recharging of such items as iPhone, iPad and other low powered devices during extended black outs in areas with generally good power (i.e. 2 or less loss of power per year). In areas with more loss of power events one should consider an UPS that has 50% reserve power based upon full load. This allows for multiple power events with reduced UPS recharge time... 3) From a strictly old school purist point of view... I would run power (AC) cables in separate bundle from interface cables (i.e. HDMI, network, et al). Once again thank you for some excellent content...

    This is great, thanks for the tips - I don’t why I didn’t think of those little black cable thingies to keep it tidy up on the underside of my desk, I used cheap IKEA ones and they all fell off.

    After tieing everything down, I found that with swapping gear, and taking on occasion to a shoot, and adding things for review. I needed something more forgiving.
    I got a wire shelf, cup hooks and bungee straps from a DYI store. Cut some of the wires on the shelf so it would fit around the legs of the standing desk. And have the shelf being held up with the bungee straps and cup hooks. I just have all my cords, USB hubs, power straps and transformers on that shelf.
    I keep the stuff that never moves held down with velcro and zip ties. Anything temporary or that moves just gets layed in the rack.
    And everything stays off the floor.
    My UPS units are nylon strapped to the feet of the desk so that it can all be wheeled around with the desk.

    Is that velcro tape stuff strong enough to use to hang large picture frames? I use that 16 lb 3m velcro command stuff which works but is pretty dang expensive per frame to hang since each one only has like 8 strips.
    But if that roll of velcro is strong enough, I'm sure if we cut it, it would add up to wayyy more frames being hung at a much lower cost.

    • @BeckiandChris
      @BeckiandChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not too sure but it would likely rip the paper right off the drywall when you try to remove it. I’d recommended using picture frame anchors that nail into the wall, they are cheaper and way more reliable than command strips (and easier to patch when you are done with them 😊)

    Speaking from experience from doing the exact same thing…
    Be careful with the double-sided adhesive ("Velcro"). If you're sticking things upside-down that generate heat, it will weaken over time, and the "glue" will start melting.
    For a more secure seal, separate the two sides, and firmly press/roll it onto each surface as if you're applying packing/duct tape.

    • @matt_logic4423
      @matt_logic4423 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2
