I have a Gigabyte x470 Gaming 7 wifi that is having similar symptoms. One day it stopped working. It powers on, led and fans spin on all components, but no post. I will be removing the heat sink on VRM to clean it with 91% alcohol to see if it's just dirty or mosfets are corroded. Great video.
I usualy check resistance between the output coils and the 12v cpu atx conector for high side mosfet short before put the cpu in the socket to be safe!
Nice work. The power delivery design on that board looks very questionable. They used doublers like sprinkles on an ice cream but it is a beautiful looking ice cream.
I have two MSI boards b550 gaming plus. First one doesn't power on the graphics card. This one I'm using doesn't power off during a reboot/restart. All components remain lit up. It powers on and off normally and does seems to restart normally apart not powering off during the restart process. I will be ordering an ASUS b550 rog strix f in a few days to replace it as I am unable to fix the issue.
Nice Video squire, I have an ASRock 970 Performance Fatal1ty board that’s not booting, I popped the BIOS Chip out & re-flashed it and then got Fan Spin but nothing else, I would definitely like to get the Board working again if possible as it’s not a bad board, Believe it’s an AM3+ 🇬🇧
This is kinda hard to diagnose. You will need to pull more information about the Board. Maybe the current reading and also adding a speaker to know at which point the board is stuck!
Thanks for the response, I believe I may have found the problem, I removed the Large Heatsink next to the Processor Socket & main set of Caps etc & noticed damage across two of the Mosfet-N thingy-ma-bobs, Unfortunately My Soldering Skills aren’t that great if I’m honest plus I don’t have a Hot Air Station & I have no idea where I could purchase the Mosfet-N thingies from although I do have access to AliExpress & Amazon etc, Information on the top of the Mosfets is: K03J5 4E1 602P, I do have some reasonable tools including Soder-Wick etc if that will help?
@@AJComputerServicesUK Alliexpress will defenetly have the right parts you need! But you sadly wont get far without hot air. There is no way to heat the board up eniugh with just a soldering iron to get the mosfets off. And even with cheaper hot air stations its not easy!
@@MainboardMedic Thanks for that, I’m just going to set it to one side for now until my Soldering Skills have improved and hopefully I’ll have a Hot Air Station in time so can take another look in the not to distant future!
maybe it's a good idea before you start to check in resistance mode and diode mode from phase to VCC 12V as well, not just from phase to GND. Also the way you say VRM always sound like you say VRAM , this is confusing some times.
I am having a problem with my Asus x99-a motherboard. Normally it runs properly but after 7 to 8 hours, it shuts down. after that no matter what, the motherboard is not powered on. but 1 day or 2 days again the motherboard runs properly and shuts down again 7 to 8 hours later. What is the problem? Can you give me any idea what should I do?
That sounds like a failing Chipset, nothing to be done here i think! Even if you try to cool it better, just removing the heatsink from it might already kill it! What is the exact power on fault? No reaction to the power button?
Hello friend, I have a problem with Gigabyte B450 Gaming X. I have been trying to repair ATX boards for a long time. But in the end I came across a difficult situation. The board does not keep the BIOS settings, apart from basic problems such as the CMOS battery. BIOS updates from f40 to f66 do not change anything. If I put the measurement probes to the restart jumper, the bios shows a short circuit, but only when the battery and processor are installed. After removing the battery, the short circuit stops. I have a board view for the ATX board and everything leads me to dismantling the 4x PCIE slot under which there are capacitors and resistors. Please help. :) :) :) REGARDS I love your movies!.
I had one too and the VRMs were actually very cool but everything else is trash tho, had a lot of issues (buggy BIOS, NVME dissapearing, random USB disconnections). Never buying a Gigabyte mobo again

great to see you bringing motherboards back to life

Awesome repair. Thanks for sharing! I don't get many board repair jobs for desktop PCs and it's nice to see your process.
A new mainboard medic video is always an instant click and watch
this tech. explains the process great.
before soldering in the new mosfets, you should test the gate with an oszyloscope for propper signals.
Hallo mal wieder... habe auch zwei davon gerettet. Eines im tägliche Gebrauch, eines alt Test-Rig... Gute boards... wieder ein tolle Video!
ok, i have to clean my sistem now before the summer arrives. thanks

That MOBO only gave me trouble lol
Went to MSI
This video was very helpful, thanks

Thank you for sharing.
Very entertaining. Good job.
Add a solder mask to the Ripp edges and you are good to go.
That probably would have been a good idea!
Thank you very much 👌
well done champion!
23:55 you shorted two pins xd
Pins 1-3 on that chip are Source, so short is fine.
I didn't see a bridge.

Nice job 👍👍
did you install the capacitor back 🤔
Jap i did that off camera!
@@MainboardMedic yea i figured, its a pretty big component so harder to miss

@@MainboardMedic no reaction to the power button. All lights are blinking. Even gpu power lights are blinking. Power stable problem.

I would try to apply 3V to the battery terminal without the battery and see for the power consumption. Did the Bios battery get drained?
Молодец. Лайк лови ❤

dumpster fire of a board. i had one and the vrm would always get super toasty. forget overclocking!
