THANKS FOR THE TIP on the pcie slot clip, when mine broke (were slider type ) on older AM3/3+ Asrock boards i just used a zip tie lol to hold in the gfx card lock tab.... older boards used slider type, problem is there are so many different types of PCI-e latches/locks ... wait till the new button press or easy lock/release pci-e slots break (X670E or X870E ) lol

I have asrock b450 mini itx and my board stuck on reset loop, i hear relay in my psu and it reset all the time. Have you some idea what should i check in that board?

This is crazy! Got scammed a month ago with this board, got exactly the same problem, it's stuck on dram led, from time to time go to CPU led, but unfortunately no fix for mine, its stuck on reset, the previous owner definitely temper with the board, as there is some soldering done near the sio. Unfortunately I don't have a microscope to look closer and impossible to find schematic for this board without a paywall... So far the only thing I try is to flash the bios but with Asus is such a pain (i did manage to find a proper dump on badcaps)... And before that i noticed that i don't have 1.8 v on the ic but 1.4 v, is this normal? Any help would be appreciated. Anyway thank you for the content, I was so thrilled to see u repair this one, I learned a lot from you so keep the good work !

Both inputs G1 and G2 must be high to take the board out of reset. If either is low, RSMRST# will stay asserted (low) and the board won't start. Trick is to find out which of the inputs is low and why, and if neither are low, why Q128 is not working properly.

Also, can you tell us where you got your power consumption meter with the LED display?

You probably need to look at the SIO's datasheet to see what sets that pin (GPEN17) high or low. "GP" means it's a general purpose pin, which means that it's either programmed internally to operate a certain way, or it has strapping options that set it to operate it a certain way, or it's dependent on some other input signal to the SIO to control its behavior. You'll need to see what other ACPI-related signals are coming into the SIO that can affect this output. Something upstream of the SIO could be the issue.

I have same board. Bios 1.8v missing then found a short capacitor, after removing short not booting up so tried to flash bios by ch341A unfortunately offical website bios size larger than chip. Anyone have bin bios file?

As a test turn the microscope ring-light off and shine a torch from the side, and see if the colour gets better. When Electronics Repair School switched to side lights everything suddenly popped, ie, colour and clarity.

I have a Gigabyte x470 Gaming 7 wifi that is having similar symptoms. One day it stopped working. It powers on, led and fans spin on all components, but no post. I will be removing the heat sink on VRM to clean it with 91% alcohol to see if it's just dirty or mosfets are corroded. Great video.

hello mate, i have a b550 gaming x with pci rst being pulled low, i flashed a new bios since eBay owner said bios was bricked, vrms and chipset get toasty and cpu gets warm any ideas on whats causing this.

Please don't put I/O shields on top of their motherboards - they can pick off smaller components and gouge traces. Don't make any more headaches for yourself than necessary. Bag them separately and put them on the (bagged) board when storing the board (ALL motherboards should be ESD bagged - that thing about making more headaches applies especially to unprotected boards). And no, "modern" boards are no more resistant to ESD damage than older ones.

Yet another case of people treating mainboards like rocks. Most of these issues are caused by poor physical and ESD handling procedures. Much of our pains are self-inflicted.

It’s not a dip switch, it’s called a potentiometer.

The motherboard might have liquid damage from running in an humid environment as well. Humid environment might've caused some short and that brought down the pch

You could technically re-ball in an oven. You can't delaminate/popcorn a PDB in an oven because all layers expand the same amount, the only problem is working with the oven door in the way. Then it's just a matter of:- Heat in oven and pull the chip, stencil and paste the balls on the chip, then oven it back on.
