    This is honestly the most helpful video I’ve found online as it’s specific to new builds! I’d honestly given up on our front lawn as it’s in a terrible state, but went to b&q earlier today to buy top soil & a lawn levelling lute after watching your video this morning. Grass seed & other products you named are on order! Thank you so much ☺️

      Nice one! I hope it works out well!
      It takes a while for the lawn to look half decent, a good month or two. But after that, you'll be glad you did it!
      Hope all goes well 😁

    Great video that quickly explains all the key steps! Literally just done this entire process today myself, although not able to level quite like this. I used the A1 premiership pro too, so interested to see how my lawn journey compares in the coming weeks. Keep up the great content!

      Nice one! Glad the videos have come in handy.
      With the way the sun passes across my garden in the spring, half is almost ready for its first cut and the other half is lagging behind! Hoping to cut it in a couple of weeks for the first time. I'll get a video out when I do 👍🏻

    Thanks for the tip on levelling with top soil as opposed to compost and the reasons why! Duly noted! You're right about the leveller though, not cheap!

    Does the old grass come back through the new top soil? Or does the depth of new top soil plus the scalping kill the old grass off?

    Hello, great advice on your channel.
    What's better for levelling a garden with bare soil that has been rotavated? The Landzie or a timber straight edge? Which will do the best job?
    Thank-you 👍

    Really nice videos that will help a lot of people. You’ve done fantastic work with your back garden 👏 One question though, wasn’t the ground a bit too wet for scarifying? It looks really muddy when your doing it. Been planning/trying to get mine done and over seeded for about the last 5 weeks before trees are in full leaf, but every time I get the free time to do it ⛈️ 😔

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers 👍🏻
      Possibly was a tad wet, but it was the only good few days I had to work with around work which was a pain! It had dried up enough though for it to be ok.
      Even today it is chucking it down out there! It's hard to catch the right window with the weather!

    How did you find the Westlands top soil? I have incredibly tight access to my house so always have to buy individual bags but never tried Westlands before. Great video. I'm hoping my renovation will start in the next couple of weeks or so

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely recommend it. It's pretty cheap and the bags definitely make life easier. Most people don't have space for a huge bulk bag or a way to wheelbarrow it through (which if often back breaking if you do it for long enough!).
      Good luck with your renovation! 😁

      I just got it from my local garden centre. If you pop down to yours, they should be stocking them at this time of year. If not, Amazon is a good place, just make sure it’s the white stuff

  • @rozzer666
    @rozzer666 ปีที่แล้ว

    I followed all your vids as I was doing garden renovation at same time as you. My lawn has all settled from flat to sunken in and needs to be re leveled. I see you used the bags of topsoil rather than getting bulk bags, do you think its cheaper buying small bags or is it just you don't have to wheel barrow it all in?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much cheaper with the smaller bags this time! I have a few bumps, nothing too major. I bought just over 20 bags, but ended up with loads left over. It was surprising how far each bag went with the bumps in the lawn only being shallow.
      Not having to use a wheel barrow was definitely a bonus too! It gives me flashbacks to the 5 tonnes last year! 🤣
