I have been practicing JOMO long before even FOMO became a trend! Although, people will follow any 'trend' for some time and hop onto to the next one in today's time! If you truly want to follow JOMO, you have to stop trying to even talk about it to anyone. Simply be on your own and see how enjoyable life becomes!

JOMO is a great thing. I haven't looked at Facebook in years. I only have one social media account with only a couple close friends. Our rule on that account is we only use to plan when we get together. No posting memes, no politics, etc, etc.

Your approach is certainly a step forward to live the real life. But, allow me to say, it'd be best to completely delete your account and use other available means to stay in touch and plan for things with your social network. This way, you don't contribute to the big stats and you actually aren't part at all of such communities. No offense whatsoever, just my honest opinion.

It's a matter of discipline. Use social media responsibly. Its not good to keep up or live on other peoples expectation. Too much time spent on social media will not just affect one's mental health but also our own very eyes..

People have involved themselves so much into this virtual world that all these terms used to describe the kind of addiction you have seem like a disease or such. It's been 6 7 years now I don't use my smartphone until needed, if I have a work that can't be done without it only then I hold that 5.7" trash in my hands, it's so useless that it stared to affect my life, mood, studies and one fine day I deleted all the applications and never installed it back. Now I sleep well, wake up early in the morning and scoring good in my examinations and I am very happy with this change. Limit your usage to 2 hours maximum and see the difference in your overall lifestyle.

I have been JOMOing for years.
The best feature on my mobile phone is the 'Off' switch.
Long before smart phones, back in the mists of time, I used to pull the cord of my landline phone out of the wall plug.
To the people trying to call me it, would seem as if my phone was wringing and just assume I was out.
But I could blissfully -- hear nothing but crickets.

I started instagram back in 2019, because a lot of my classmates were on it as were many celebrities and stuff. Classic FOMO. I did it extensively in 2020 during lockdown, often for as much as 2 hours a day, but my followers were less than 50 and just laughing at useless memes gave little more than momentary joy. In 2021, a phase came where my monthly average became 13 mins and I missed so many trends and such, I quickly reverted back. I recently permanently deleted my account in Feb because I was wasting far too much time on it. Wasn't easy since I had a ton of memorable chats on the platform. I even have a friend I rarely talked to in class but because if insta, we are very good friends now. Though unfortunately she doesn't do anything other than insta so now our conversations are rather limited. Still, I am very content with leaving insta. Ultimately in a few months I will open a new account because I am trying my hand at freelancing and will need social media for marketing purposes, but I will never do social media for the sake of doing social media again. Just doesn't bring me joy anymore.

JOMO has always existed. Younger millennials and Gen Z need to learn life without social media. 💕

I go to the park every day with my dogs and every day there are more people than not straring at their phones never once looking up to enjoy nature...
    Kinda sad.
Yes, as stated the best thing about my cell is the do not disturb mode... off switch.

The irony of social media is that it actually disconnects people. Living your life in the real world is always more peaceful and meaningful. The art of minding your own business and thriving is incredibly satiating.
