Hey everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found some insight in some of the destructive behaviours that can be developed with excessive social media use. This was interesting for myself and my team to understand and learn more about.
I will say a couple of things. I really don't condone the hurtful things being said about Mark Zuckerberg's appearance, I know the thumbnail overdramatises the video. Many people are saying quite a lot of unsettling things and I get it you are like "he is rich, who cares", but that's not the point, bullying is bullying and saying hurtful things is bad. I hope you can see where I'm coming from. Doesn't matter if they are a billionaire or some outcast from some part of the world. This is not what we are about.
It's important to be critical of big companies and it's important to be fair and objective in your analysis.
I don't think Mark is a bad person or Facebook in general are bad or even social media but as Chamath says in the video, "if you feed the beast the beast will eat you." This is the most important point of the video.
I encourage you all to take a more nuanced approach to the video and not to view it has a pure condemnation, how we grow as a society and as people is to understand and use empathy.
For me the video serves as a cautionary tale as to what can happen when you go on autopilot mode and what can happen is that your time and attention is controlled by others. This isn't just about social media it is about anything in life.
Anyways, be kind. Be fair and objective. Speak your mind but respectfully, if you hate social media say it, if you love it say it. Share why you think so or don't.
The most important thing is that we engage in a dialogue together.
    With love,
    Nav

Yes. We are all now part of the 'attention economy'. What to do? Feel more fear and create more enemies? More likes for hating those we perceive to be controlling us? Not a solution.
Talk it over with others...debate but don't despair. Dare to be different: switch off your phone when you can...explain your actions to others...value the quiet undisturbed mind. It is the basis for personal peace and social harmony.

I liked being able to be in contact with friends and family I haven't seen or talked to in years, but if you share content not to their liking even if it is true, Facebook and Twitter will tag it as false content. I deleted my Twitter and only use Facebook to check on family and friends now. And I rarely get on there. Its a waste of time. I mostly use my phone as a phone and at times watch videos if I'm bored. I truly agree with what you said in this video. I'm just sorry so many kids are bullied and commit suicide over social media. Its really sad!

I would usually agree with your point about ad hominem comments about Mark Zuckerberg, however, when you consider all that he can do to us and all we can do to him it is the equivalent of being run over by a bus and the victim scratching the chrome off the bumper. He can addict our children and younger generations to Facebook causing immeasurable damage to society, ban political, social and individual pages that he and his employees dislike, influence elections and put pressure on governments, harvest our data and sell us to the highest bidder and in the process become so rich that he can buy his own island. We can call him a few names. The fact that I think he has head shaped like an egg isn't going to keep me up at night!

@@burtingtune yep...hearing your sentiments, especially for the generations to come.
Luckily some of us didn't grown up with " tech-social-media "
Some of us grew up on donkey Kong hand games, playing in our front yard safely, talking on telephones and generally no devises except a tellavision:.so we are lucky we know how to switch these distractions, controlling mind-bending machines OFF. It is sad and bloody unfortunate, let's hope 🙏next generations will hopefully learn from parents who genuinely give their time and a ...hoot about their children. The major problem with traditional social media (i. e. fb, Twitter instagram, etc), is that most people develop a virtual image that seems to be perfect, and many others compare themselves to that image, making them feel that their life is miserable or that they haven't accomplished anything, the social media algorithms make people to see all the time people with apparent wonderful lives, and the latest problem is, because politics have become a major topic in the latest years (specially with certain disease), a lot of people that you have in your contacts (friends, family, etc) will insult you if you share something opposed to their opinion, also most of the social media will keep censoring one side, so, it will seem that the majority of people have certain sentiment and will demoralize anyone that thinks different even more; it's a bunch of problems, that's why there are many mentally ill people nowadays.

Repent of your sins and believe on Adonai Jesus Christ, believe in your heart that He has died for sins and rose from the tomb on the third day and let the Holy Spirit within you, and you shall be saved.
      -
Evidence for Jesus Christ’s existence, crucifixion, and disappearance from the grave (He rose from it):
The Lord Jesus Christ did exist, gathered disciples, and was crucified and went missing from the grave. To argue about wether He was taken from the grave or rose from it, is an argument a skeptic can make. Because well if you disregard the eye witness testimony of the disciples and there willingness to die for Christ, and humans won’t die for something they know is a lie, when Peter is pinned upside down to that cross, he could have said that it was a fake, but He didn’t because it wasn’t, what care would he have about death in this world if he knew for a fact he had assurance of a life in another, Jesus Christ did rise from the grave and is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now the evidence for the Lord Jesus Christ’s existence really isn’t hard to find a multitude of non-Christian scholars and historians mention Him within 150 years after the time of His life. One such is Tacitus a Roman historian who reported on emperor nero’s decision to blame the Christians for the fire that had destroyed rome in 64 AD. Tacitus wrote:
“Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome…”
In this Tacitus makes reference to not only Christians, but Christ calling Him Christus and confirming the Gospels going on to say that He suffered the extreme penalty (crucifixion) under the reign of Tiberius and by the sentence of Pontius Pilate, which like I said confirms the Gospels narrative.
Another important source of evidence about Jesus and early Christianity can be found in the letters of Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan. Pliny was the Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. In one of his letters, dated around A.D. 112, he asks Trajan's advice about the appropriate way to conduct legal proceedings against those accused of being Christians. Pliny says that he needed to consult the emperor about this issue because a great multitude of every age, class, and sex stood accused of Christianity. At one point in his letter, Pliny relates some of the information he has learned about these Christians:
“They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind.”
This passage provides a number of interesting insights into the beliefs and practices of early Christians. First, we see that Christians regularly met on a certain fixed day for worship. Second, their worship was directed to Christ, demonstrating that they firmly believed in His divinity. Furthermore, one scholar interprets Pliny's statement that hymns were sung to Christ, "as to a god", as a reference to the rather distinctive fact that, "unlike other gods who were worshipped, Christ was a person who had lived on earth." If this interpretation is correct, Pliny understood that Christians were worshipping an actual historical person as God! Of course, this agrees perfectly with the New Testament doctrine that Jesus was both God and man.
You may have heard of the scholar Flavius Josephus who mentioned James as being the brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, which matches what Paul said calling James “The Lord’s brother” and there is another document that Josephus may have written which goes:
“About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he ... wrought surprising feats.... He was the Christ. When Pilate ...condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared ... restored to life.... And the tribe of Christians ... has ... not disappeared.”

And for more evidence of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s the Bible and you see there is no evidence the Bible is corrupted, a lie, created by the Roman government, folktale. It is the recount of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, now wether you want to believe it is up to you. And what profit was there in spreading Christianity, All the early Christian suffered persecution, beatings, and were killed. -
Evidence for Jesus Christ’s existence, crucifixion, and disappearance from the grave (He rose from it):
Now it’s up to debate wether this is the entirely original document of what Josephus wrote, or if a Christian had edited it. But regardless he wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ. Wether it was negative or positive like the possible document is. Anyways there are many other statements, documents, letters, and writings of all sorts from the ancient world talking about the Lord Jesus Christ and there is not one question if He was a real person or if He was crucified and went missing from the grave. That is clear as day, He is a real person, was crucified, and went missing from the grave. And He did rise from the grave. Another Scholar reported that James the Lord’s Brother was thrown off a building and then stoned to death for spreading the Gospel in Jerusalem. @@imy5279 That's not an example of addiction. It's simply being without a functional tool, when you actually needed it. If you were on the highway the anxiety would undoubtedly be greater since you could potentially drive farther distances & find yourself farther out of your way than you intended. If you were on a schedule, the problem of not knowing where to go would heighten that anxiety, understandably. GPS is not always reliable. *Suggestion:* Think what you would have done to prepare to get there _before GPS was a thing_ & do that as a backup. Anxiety & full on panic is typically rooted in unpreparedness, which heightens our fear, depending on the circumstances & the person's ability to handle stress of the unknowns. Also, it would be a good idea to learn the phone numbers of 3 of the closest people to you (if you don't already know them). No, online dating sites in general have turned dating into online shopping. Women have this "plenty of fish" mentality, so when they see a profile that doesn't have pics of a hot guy or if the profile doesn't fill out their shopping list...they move on because, there's hundreds of other profiles to browse through. Online dating is something else I quit doing, because my greetings being constantly ignored was just making my depression even worse and making me feel I wasn't worth anything to anyone. 14 years worth of off and on use of date sites has almost destroyed my hope for ever finding romantic love again.

I go to work everyday by bus and people don't look at each other anymore. It's really sad. I still have facebook and Instagram but I never post anything, it's all just fake. Fake people showing fake lives, giving other people anxiety and depression.

IIRC when you are deleting the account it will bring you to a page to confirm it, and it stated clearly that you could recover it within a period (several weeks or months I forgot). Lol I never went back to recover it anyway. And I remember it is very complex to find the way to delete it because I searched at many sections in my previous fb account but still couldn't find it, so I googled and went to a link that brought me to there.
I did this like... 2 or 3 years ago because I don't need it at all. News feed rarely helpful in any way and I don't care if my friends drink milk for their breakfast (yes literally, some friends posted that).
I remember the first thing I woke up scrolling for news feed in fb even though I knew it will never bring any useful information to me. I don't know why, it's just the things my housemates always did and I followed it. When they got something trivial they would share it with everyone as if they have found treasures....
Wake up, lie on the bed scrolling for an hour or 2, scrolling whole day, scrolling when having meals and another scrolling session for an hour or two before bed. Best way to demolish your life when you couldn't control your temptation.

The second the teacher leaves the class for a moment, all students will whip out their phone to scroll through TikTok or similiar apps. They also do it in class when the teacher isn't looking. What's also annoying about it is how the students will complain about receiving bad grades and try to shift the blame to the teacher. It's mind-boggling.

Not only that but nowadays people don’t even use social media to virtually communicate anymore, it’s more about mindless scrolling which ironically transforms us into the opposite of “social” and makes us cluelessly isolated into our own rooms. And it’s quite sad because considering that even if you try to quit, it’s not like your friends or your family will too, and you will have to helplessly watch them consume this messed up algorithm in exchange of their attention and neurons. As a teenager there is no way you won’t lose a big fraction of your friends and have the reputation of the “weird kid” in the school you are in. But nevertheless you should put your mental health first and search for the people who are also conscious, even if they are not around you right now.

@@deja7615 Social media is still pretty good! Social media is designed to kill time, communicate with others, a good source of information, and ect.
Kids wouldn't go out just because of social media. Maybe it's because they are depressed, a shut in, bullied, or something in their life that has made them think that they don't belong to society
Social media is sometimes used to escape the real world. People would make this as their way of reliving stress, sadness. We need this! Maybe not all of us would say the same, but sometimes we must put ourselves in their shoes to know better.
