    Hi 👋, WoodWorks great to see somebody who knows what they’re doing and is able to teach other people, Back in the 80s I had a contract to make some components out of Ebony and Rosewood, I had a serious problem with the blades, not lasting very long, the company that I was using to buy band saw blades from recommended that I use it bimetal blades , so since then I’ve always use them, And over the years, I have done a lot of resaw work, As per usual, a great territorial, obviously this is going back in time I’m from the future, 😂

    Perfect timing for this video, I have been having issues with drift when re-sawing, figured I just needed a new blade, which I ordered. Then watched this video, next day stripped off all the guides, cleaned thoroughly, replaced and reset up. Hadn't got my new blades yet but figured I would just have a quick try at re-sawing some oak, what do you know, no drift.

    I have the Laguna BX14 110v and I must say the brake feature is super convenient. I had issues setting it up at first but it's doing what it's designed to do. I like Alex Snodgrass' assessment that the deepest part of the gullet on the blade should ride in the middle of the wheel. I've never had the need to use anything wider than a 3/8 blade on this bandsaw. The Carter guides are a MUST. They have awesome blades too. Thanks for the shout out at the 13:15 mark 🙂

    downside to carbide blades, if you snap them after a year youll have to just buy another one from laguna if you want to use it again. if you snapped one every few years the timberwolf would still end up cheaper over time. it very much depends

  • @drewachong
    @drewachong ปีที่แล้ว

    19:25 He mentions blade drift being the result of setup problems on newer bandsaw with the newer tools, etc. What about older model bandsaw? I have an older Grizzly G1019 14" bandsaw. No matter how much time I spend aligning everything, I still get blade drift like crazy.

    • @EnquiringMinds-vx8gb
      @EnquiringMinds-vx8gb 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The tighter the blade, the less drift you get.
      Blade drift happens because the blade can move.

    There are tons of used bandsaws no need to spend thousands. I got 4 from small to huge and paid under $200 for them all. Just look for good deals and bandsaws that need a little service. Also, you can buy rolls of bandsaw blades for like a dollar per foot. Making your own blades to your length is easy and soooo much cheaper.

    Hello , my blade is always running of from the rubbers. Do I need new rubbers. I adjusted the blade already on the back. Is it possible that there is to much tension on the blade so it pushes to much on the rubbers and push the rubbers out of the gides. ?

    Great information but I wish he’d address (or admit?) that most of us that do woodworking can’t afford a $1500+ machine. Many of us are very small businesses or weekend warriors but could really benefit from a bandsaw. I get that he’s in the business of selling these tools but most of us won’t be able to start there. I appreciate you trying to get him to talk about that. It was a bit disconcerting to hear him basically say only a “hobbiest” that does small parts and not much work would want that. I’d really love to hear an expert really address the less expensive saws and how to be successful with them. Once someone uses a good tool, they are then ready to move up to a better tool.

  • @laggisssawada189
    @laggisssawada189 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great vid. However he is wrong about the ceramic guides. If they are always contacting the blade then you have set them up wrong. They are setup just like rollers and dissipate heat much quicker. Think of the space shuttle, what is the underbelly coated with? Ceramic tiles. So I don't see the rollers as a upgrade.

    Good information as always. I have a Rockwell/Delta 14" band saw. Manufactured in the mid 1970's. Good old American cast iron. Made to last. It was in bad shape when I got it. I restored it by cleaning it up, replacing worn out or broken parts. Once together and dialed it....OH does she sing.

    • @731Woodworks
      @731Woodworks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Ultimate, Genius, Game-Changer, etc. are all action words that drives more clicks. Name of the game is to get the views while providing good information inside the video. That's the "why" it is done all over TH-cam. Short answer, it works.

      @@731Woodworks Thank you for the response. I can relate to what you are saying. However for me, it is always a let down and game playing. I understand you will do what you need to do to increase your views...It is your job to your self and your family. It just that those words are overly used and it diminishes the value of the video and the content creator. I believe you are creative enough to come up with a new catch word and be unique to drive up the views. I have faith in you. I do enjoy your videos. They are informative and entertaining. I know a few guys that are making incredible items with bandsaws that are in the $400-800 range and they’re not “hobbyists”.
