The only issue I have with this gun is the muzzle flash. This thing was literally the perfect auto rifle. 720 rpm high range high handling zen moment AND LIGHTWEIGHT?? Some people might be able to get over the visual clutter but I just can’t 😔
I believe it is due to the barrel being so high up on the gun. Normally there’s a bigger gap between the top of the gun and the barrel. The sight is almost level with the barrel.
It has the same model as the moon autorifle from shadow keep which also used to have the insane muzzle flash, but they later tuned it down so hopefully they do the same here
the muzzle flash problem has been a problem since shadowkeep. this gun is a carbon copy of the arc moon gun and they had to adjust the muzzle flash on it too. can’t believe they forgot about that detail
Bungie's said more than once that MnK has more bullet bending while controller has more reticle friction and both are components of aim assist. As for the muzzle flash, I just think controller users are more accustomed to visual clutter because PC players can often just remove extra noise from their screens. Either way, I can see why the MnK makes it harder to deal with muzzle flash and I'm on a controller.
Yep. Also just a note but In game when aim assist is mentioned it is *just* bullet bending. The "Aim Assistance" stat on weapons does not affect reticle friction
I think the muzzle flash is bad because it has a purple (void) AND white (kinetic) flash at the same time which makes it kind of too much. It may also just be something im noticing now and was on most energy primary weapons and I have no clue what im talking about. Edit: Nvm most weapons have the white flash regardless of energy type but I think the white one is super exaggerated on this gun specifically.
For me it's meltdown, I wanna breakdown in tears every time I'm forced to play that stupid map But this map was added recently I'm pretty sure, with the March update (not really recent I guess, time flies)
Believe it or not, but I haven't played on that map since couple seasons ago after Bungie did something to the map rotator. Ever since then I'm stuck on Burnout, Endless Vale and Altar of Flame...
The muzzle flash could be that one muzleflash bug where it makes a gun's muzzle flash too large, I think I remember it happened with things like Bygones or whatever weapon it was. I know one of the old gambit weapons had a large muzzle flash bug though. But seeing this, Bungie might say something about it and patch it.
As a 720 lover, the issue for me is how much the gun shakes when shooting regardless of stability. Some autos just seem to shake less than others and at least for controller it’s kind of a big deal for the feel. An example would be like Rufus’s fury compared to this, or for 600’s sorrow’s verse compared to summoner
Hard agree. I got a perfect range roll with Dynamic + Zen in the first week. I freaked out thinking I got a crazy stability combo on a gun with insane range. Little did I know that it jitters like crazy when firing it, no matter how much Zen or Dynamic help.
@@ThatGuy-rz6tv low key do the grind for either necrochasm or Rufus’s fury. I got 2 Rufus’s fury adepts both with arrowhead, ricochet, range mw, perpetual, and one has target lock while the other has paracausal affinity (better imo). I got extremely good range with almost max stability and a lightning fast ttk. It’s imo a top 3 auto rifle in the game. Since that’s pretty hard to get obviously, necrochasm is a decent second option that also is an S tier PvE weapon
@@literallyjustaglassofmilk3609 oh I’ve got both. Crafted Rufus and caty Necro are amazing weapons, so I was expecting to also love the Riposte. Rufus just seems to have some under-the-hood tuning compared to Riposte since Rufus just doesn’t even move the crosshair when I fire it.
Yeah I agree also and I've gotten the god roll. Its still an uncomfortable feeling to it, I did get another roll where the recoil direction was 86 or something and it felt pretty good tbh.
I've got my first one and it's just amazing Range 51 stability 72 handling 47 , aim assistance 76 , Killing wind and desperate measures (10 % DMG on kill , 20% on melee/grenade kill) up to 30%. On mnk not needed the Zen moment honestly, it slaps.
I have an alternative build for this gun. Fitted-Stock, Dynamic, Tap, High-Cal, Hammerforged, Range MW. Counterbalance mod. 1 or 2 targeting mods. To help handling, use Spirit of Ophidian OR Actual Ophidians (if on warlock). If using spirit of ophidians, add on reload mod. Optional unflinching on chest plate. Tap the trigger will MAX the stability for a single TTK window and can be enhanced. Dynamic will follow up if you hold the trigger past the TTK window (on the back end). Handling deficits will be made up by Ophidians. This would be my personal choice to max out stability AND recoil direction, THEN address handling & reload with armor/ armor mods.
As someone who plays exclusively controller, you're absolutely right about that. Same thing with Crimson. Mnk just cares more about visual clutter because tracking is more difficult, you need to properly see your target beyond the first few shots.
I havent really noticed the muzzle flash because I'm at the point in my shooter journey where I just look at my target and my muscle memory kills them, but for people who still focus on their reticle instead of target I can see it being a huge issue
Muzzle flash might actually be worse at higher framerates because of there being more "flashed" frames that are rendered. Meanwhile with lower refresh rates or lower FPS, there's a chance for the render to "skip" the flashed frame entirely. Just a hypothesis.
1) Xbox user that got the void pve combo on it. Def hadn't noticed the muzzle flash before. Without question feel like I'll notice it now. So thanks for that, lol. 2) I'm almost positive Riposte frame wise/design wise is a reskin of Arc Logic. Which ALSO used to have a MASSIVE muzzle flash issue if you remember. Kind of hilarious that the reskin has the same issue, lol.
speaker sight making orbs when it heals people is insane and I didn't even realize it was doing that in PvE despite at least one warlock running that almost all the time in contest
if I'm not mistaken, Riposte has the same gun model as the Arc Logic Moon auto, which ALSO used to have crazy muzzle flash before Bungie went in and changed it. I wonder if when they made this, they copied over most of the assets including the old Muzzle Flash issue?
I been using the curated roll all weekend in Trials and it felt great. KW bumps you up 5m in range to 32 and gives that insane 40 in handling to put you at like 85. Then you got the 15% dmg buff from GT and you shred people at all resil and if you manage to get a nade or melee for the 2nd stack you cant lose a fight. As a KB&M player I didn't even register the muzzle flash until you brought it up here, It gave me zero issues so I cant speak on it but I dont think its really that big of a deal.
I hope they listen to feedback and fix it like they did it with the sniper, another comp weapon. Almost everyone hated the pixel sized scope that the comp sniper had so they eventually changed it. I think a very disruptive muzzle flash is a way bigger issue than just a bad scope. It's very noticeable, if you pause the video you can see it covering around 3/4 of the scope with almost every bullet.
I think this gun model is based on the moon auto arc logic which also had ridiculous muzzle flash for a while too. They probably forgot to take it away when they pulled it for reuse.
Another main 720rpm auto rifle is the Chroma Rush. I got a zen moment kill clip Riposte and like it a ton. The muzzle flash did take a bit to get used to.
There are a few other weapons that were ruined by muzzle flash. The Misfit, 720 AR from Forsaken was the best 720 in the game for a while. Hit well beyond any other 720 and even many 600's (mostly because it could use high zoom scopes which ADD handling (Devil Scope D2). When zoom increased range dropoff, this was HUGE! In addition, HC rounds added a ton of flinch back then. Then, one update, muzzle flash just appeared and made Misfit, Bad Reputation SMG, Trust HC and many other Forsaken era weapons just completely unusable. It has rolled back a little, but stands roughly where the Riposte is from what it looks like. Makes it really hard to track and hit moving targets, and I am on controller. Also completely agree with you that its harder to track through muzzle flash on MnK than controller due to reticule stickiness.
This gun looks to be a reskin of Arc Logic… a shadowkeep auto rifle. If I remember correctly Arc Logic had this same issue with muzzle flash and they had to fix it at some point. Looks like when they reskinned it, the fix didn’t stick around. Anyone else remember it?
It's ttk for under 10 resil is faster than a 450 as well. This thing will eat on maps like Cauldron as well. Friends are sleeping on it, but that lightweight boost is a nice plus too.
This auto rifle shares the same model to arc logic, the auto rifle from Shadowkeep which also had notoriously bad muzzle flash at launch. This auto model has gotta be cursed
The muzzle flash makes even less sense when looking at the gun and realizing that’s a big ass suppressor on the front of it. Which also means this is a 720 RPM rifle with like a 6 inch barrel. This thing should’ve been a bullpup honestly.
Muzzle flash with this one, visual recoil with other guns. Not surprising that weapons with bad visual feedback are harder to work with on mouse than controller. The only ones that seem to work despite recoil are non 180 HCs since they recoil so high that you can see everything and not have the target hiding behind your barrel.
Ive noticed a few other weapons with this problem? Like after you pointed it out, i noticed the muzzle flash on the new pale heart auto rifle is extremely intense as well, which is mitigated by the fact that i hip fire it alot, but even then, its still quite distracting? I doubt you will use that weapon give its low projectile speed making it a pve weapon and not a pvp one, but itss still frustrating
been wanting a usable lightweight auto rifle for a long time. before monte carlo got its bayonet buff, i was advocating for it to be made a lightweight cuz i always thought it made the most sense to be able to run up to people quicker and use all your charged melees lol.
So on controller I got one with max range max recoil direction. It felt awful. You are right it has so much muzzle flash tons of kick and has terrible recoil direction. The flinch is also awful. It has potential to be great but after 100 kills with mine max enhanced I dismantled it. I am going to try for a double consistent perk next week with max stability and see if that works better.
I went see through yesterday a couple of times during control. It seems like it happened when I either switched guns or switched loadouts. Its frustrating because you cant see the sights on your gun. lol
I said the exact same thing about the flash on the first week, and this is the first time I've seen anyone else mention it. Good to know im not imagining it lol I was in love with this auto for a few matches (I even got a 5/6 god roll) then I started to realise the flash was hurting my tracking at times if someone was using a lot of movement as hard to see and I was losing on the odd 1v1 as a result (I'm on controller)

i definitely noticed this the first time shooting this gun but after a few games i got used to it, still slightly annoying but this gun fries.
its cause its a reskinned arc logic, and the gun already had a very problematic muzzle flash.
Whenever I'm losing rumble I like to tell myself "it's bc it's wallah on another dudes account making a TH-cam video"
