Veronica Taylor's voice for Carly in this episode is absolutely amazing. She really brings the feelings for Jack and Carly in it. Especially at the end and when she tells him not to give up.
I think this is the very first time that Yugioh had a legitimate couple that you root for, Jack and Carly have the best chemistry that I've ever seen in this franchise.
Yeah, I honestly would have wanted to see Carly grow as a duelist and a journalist, maybe becoming, if not his girl, at least maybe his manager or something?
Yu-Gi-Oh! never really had a legitimate couple before this. Yugi/Anzu (Tea) was little more than a high school crush that never really went anywhere, Joey/Mai was only slightly more than that, and they never even had a date, Kaiba/Ishizu could have possibly been interesting but was created by the fans and never really implied in the manga or anime. Jaden/Alexis was never real, Alexis/Zane seemed to have been implied in the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX but the series never took it anywhere at all, Adrian/Echo was more one-sided than anything else, Yusei/Akiza was only just beginning at this point in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and wasn't taken very far, so Jack/Carly was the only romance that was actually somewhat developed, at all.
It never really went anywhere after this arc unfortunately. Akiza and Yusei sort of moved forward at the end but it seemed more like they were just putting it for later to me.
@@BeWaReJay but no one makes a complaint about gx having dueling done on a school setting when people before then could already duel and knew how to. Really when you think about it what was the sense behind it really. You literally learn how to duel on a street corner or a handbook or the internet. I am pretty sure that have it all in the Yu-Gi-Oh series.

Karly and Jacks relationship is so good. At first, jack hated her and wanted to be away from her. Now, he literally was willing to send his own soul to the netherworld to keep her safe
I don't know if he actually hated her, but he wasn't too fond of her at first, then was trying to keep her at a distance to protect her from the Dark Signers
After these episodes featuring Carly, concluding with this, I honestly wished this ship set sail in season 3 and beyond. Oh well, we can always pretend :)

I love the cumulation of the "fortune" subtext that Carly is associated with in this duel. When we first see her, she has a rather childish and simple "fairy" fortune deck that gives vague predictions, then she falls and is reborn as a dark signer with more powerful and capable "ladies" representing her more assertive self and purpose, before finally, at the end of this duel, her entire deck becomes representative of one thing; Jack. She isn't just being a passive pawn in destinies will, vaguely trying to predict the future any more, she's making it happen. Jack means everything to her at that point, and she's going to ensure he can be the hero he needs to, even if she's not in the picture; a part of that future.

This ship was shipped so hard this season, then was completely forgotten about next season. That's some crappy bs writing right there, like seriously, they couldn't give these two an actual happy ending together? and it doesn't help the dub kind of made it implied, then actually said like the JP version.

Carly tries to sneak on to join Jack, but is told off by Mina that she couldn't join him. But throughout the season, Carly is treated more so as a fan girl, joined by a new girl and Mina. Carly's story was heavily downplayed along with their relationship.

1. The japanese writer for the DS arc left for pokemon for more $$$$ 2. The original Japanese VA of carly was a suspect of being in a cult . (Japan doesn't allow people to join or begin cults. it is against japanese law.) Thus why carly, a character that had potential, was shafted and they changed the whole plot of the second season of 5ds. 3. Leo was originally supposed to get his signer powers when dueling Deback. they saved that for an episode much later on in 5ds 4. Crow Hogan was supposed to be a Villain in the original 5ds plot. 5. My girl Aki was also shafted in season 2 was because of crow hogan taking the place of the main trio. 6. Crow Hogan wasn't originally supposed to be a signer, but since blackwings were popular at the time, they decided to make crow a signer and in the main trio. 7. The second season's original script was scrapped because of the cult incident (reference back to #2) hence why the "Cult" aspect of Illiaster was changed. 8. 5ds wasn't well received in japan with all the mess that happened.

In the sub, which is the actual version, Jack openly tells her that he loves her right before getting the full Crimson Dragon on his back and then, before she regain the upper hand against the evil god and stops him from sacrificing, he tells that he will die with her because that's the fate he chose. And right before she disappears she tells him that she loves him too.

Shockwave can't be activated as Chain Link 3. It's a normal trap, so it's spell speed is too low to be activated that late in the chain. Link 1 was Release, Link 2 was Majestic Red.
After watching this I thought of a great idea for a fan-fiction: Basically an alternative ending for Dark Signer Carly where during the duel between Jack and Carly she reverts back to her old self and Aslla Piscu tries to take over her body, but Carly puts up a good Resistance and manages to surrender the duel to Jack after the duel Carly leads Jack to the pillar where Jack uses his Red Dragon Archfiend to seal it up when they successfully get out Carly trips because since she is not under the control of her Dark Signer persona her sight was reverting back to where she needed her glasses, Jack returns her Glasses...( a cute Carly × Jack moment)...then Yusei, Crow, and the others show up ruining their precious moment. After Jack explains what happened during the duel, the group decide to just trust Jack's Story and they take Carly and her duel runner and head to where Akiza should be arriving to duel with Misty...The duel between Akiza and Misty remains the same except for when Misty loses Carly arrives on the scene in her duel runner after Yusei went ahead of everyone else and during her final moments she asks that she looks for her missing little brother and Carly promises her. After that the 7th Dark Signer is revealed and Carly was shocked like everyone and had said "wait. When I was at the Darksigners hideout there wasn't any one with that mark." Then the duel with Goodwin begins, but Carly joins in as well alongside Yusei, Crow, and Jack who was reluctant to agree to this since she was not fully recovered from their duel, but ultimately he gave in and Carly's Earthbound Immortal make a second Apperance and Goodwin Summons his Earthbound Immortal as well. However, Goodwin knew her weakness and targeted Jack she then used Aslla Piscu as a sheild to protect Jack destroying Aslla Piscu in the process and she suddenly crashes Jack Immediately stops to check up on her and scolds her on why she did that and tells her to hold on, but she tells that the only reason that she is still here is because her Earthbound Immortal wasn't destroyed and that she surrendered during their duel instead of actually losing. Finally, as Carly's body slowly began to crumble she confesses her feelings to Jack and then her body into ashes Leaving Jack with a steel resolve to not only continue the duel, but to make sure Goodwin pays...
Actually in the second season if u think about it Jack literally said he didn't want Carly caught up in anything bad so in the second season its like his distancing Carly to keep her safe and not remind her of what happened when she was a dark signer

Excuse me? Hassleberry interacted with Blair exactly once during the Pair Duel tournament in S4, and she ditched him the minute she had a chance to pair with Jaden. The rest i'll give you and I agree they should have been followed up on (at least Jaden/Alexis and Yusei/Aki were heavily implied if not confirmed by the end)

In the sub, which is the actual version, Jack openly tells her that he loves her right before getting the full Crimson Dragon on his back and then, before she regain the upper hand against the evil god and stops him from sacrificing, he tells that he will die with her because that's the fate he chose. And right before she disappears she tells him that she loves him too.
I have no words. This was a very emotional and powerful episode.

Shockwave can't be activated as Chain Link 3. It's a normal trap, so it's spell speed is too low to be activated that late in the chain. Link 1 was Release, Link 2 was Majestic Red.

After watching this I thought of a great idea for a fan-fiction:
Basically an alternative ending for Dark Signer Carly where during the duel between Jack and Carly she reverts back to her old self and Aslla Piscu tries to take over her body, but Carly puts up a good Resistance and manages to surrender the duel to Jack after the duel Carly leads Jack to the pillar where Jack uses his Red Dragon Archfiend to seal it up when they successfully get out Carly trips because since she is not under the control of her Dark Signer persona her sight was reverting back to where she needed her glasses, Jack returns her Glasses...( a cute Carly × Jack moment)...then Yusei, Crow, and the others show up ruining their precious moment. After Jack explains what happened during the duel, the group decide to just trust Jack's Story and they take Carly and her duel runner and head to where Akiza should be arriving to duel with Misty...The duel between Akiza and Misty remains the same except for when Misty loses Carly arrives on the scene in her duel runner after Yusei went ahead of everyone else and during her final moments she asks that she looks for her missing little brother and Carly promises her. After that the 7th Dark Signer is revealed and Carly was shocked like everyone and had said "wait. When I was at the Darksigners hideout there wasn't any one with that mark." Then the duel with Goodwin begins, but Carly joins in as well alongside Yusei, Crow, and Jack who was reluctant to agree to this since she was not fully recovered from their duel, but ultimately he gave in and Carly's Earthbound Immortal make a second Apperance and Goodwin Summons his Earthbound Immortal as well. However, Goodwin knew her weakness and targeted Jack she then used Aslla Piscu as a sheild to protect Jack destroying Aslla Piscu in the process and she suddenly crashes Jack Immediately stops to check up on her and scolds her on why she did that and tells her to hold on, but she tells that the only reason that she is still here is because her Earthbound Immortal wasn't destroyed and that she surrendered during their duel instead of actually losing. Finally, as Carly's body slowly began to crumble she confesses her feelings to Jack and then her body into ashes Leaving Jack with a steel resolve to not only continue the duel, but to make sure Goodwin pays...
