Right click any area on the build plate
Select add primitive
select torus.
Hello everyone. With some holidays coming up it's a good thing go have a the ability to add hoops and curved holes in our prints for keychains and ornaments.
We will use a shortcut and import the mighty torus...or if you prefer the donut. You can get them from any CAD program or your favorite STL site.

Once imported you can add it to nearly any model as a part or a negative. Here are the steps to use it.

I've been printing for almost 10yrs (Ender3). Never had time to pickup much CAD tho. Now retired, your vids have inspired me to learn more. My BLX1CC was my retirement gift to myself, and a well needed upgrade. I started with Simplify3d way back then and bounced between it, and Cura as it grew. Slicers today are WAY more complex and feature rich. So thx again for the push to learn more🍻
Thank you very much for the comment. It's hard to explain how much your abilities can open up when you don't have to wrestle with your tools. Also learned on cura and ender3. I have yet to dip deeply into other CAD programs yet.
We are alike. I too bought my X1C at a (different) milestone event and learning through experimentations, and the comments. I hope we all can continue to grow and create some pretty fantastic things. Again, thank you for the comment and positive feedback.
@@ashleys3dprintshop one thing that leaves me scratching my head is .3MF files. I know that they can contain alot of data, kinda like a .zip file... and bambu slicer saves projects as .3mf but it complains when you use someone else's file. Do you have knowledge about them? I have seen them discussed on other channels but I'm ashamed to say it hasn't sunken in🤦♂️
@@dsemolian3071 Ah yes. I have looked into the 3mf files. You can view their contents easily. If you rename the ".3mf" files to ".zip" you can extract them. Nothing is encrypted or anything. you can use notepad++ to view most of the files
There is typically 4 folders, _rels, 3d, auxiliaries and metadata. There is also a content types.xms
The file i "rels references Auxilaries
"Auxilaries folder" references thumbnail model and profile pictures
"3D" folder will have another rels folder, which links back to the 3dmodel.model type file which is basically the gcode print instructions
Objects folder has the name.model which is basically the print gcode for bamub printers.
meta data has configurations more thumbnails etc.
You get a angry error from other 3mf files since they do not have the same info bambu studio is expecting but it can ignore the missing bits

Thank you. It was a good topic to cover. Everyone who asks questions gives me a chance to see if the slicer will let us do it. I actually never applied a donut to a model like that but the more and more I test I and humbled but how much I still have to learn.

Thank you. Minor update to this. If you have the latest version of Bambu studio, you can right click, add primitive, then select torus.
