    My first reaction to Pentatonix's version of this song was; "OMG"! I had tears rolling down my face. They captured the meaning of this song so beautifully and I feel it would of made John Lennon proud. Absolutely stellar!

      Their judgement is exquisite. That’s why everything they produce is perfect. I may like some songs more than others, but they are ALL stellar!

    See no reason to worry. They always serve the song and stay as true as possible.

    The attention to detail they have is incredible. First, to show their labels then pass the sign with a label they have in common with the person they are passing it to.
    Then, as Mitch sings “a brotherhood of man”, Scott passes the sign saying “MAN” to Avi. Avi passes the sign saying “AMERICAN” to Kevin as Mitch sings “(sharing all the) world”.
    They are like the Eminem of the a cappella world because you discover more and more subtle details that have various meanings each time you listen lol

    They did John proud. Some very upbeat PTX songs are Rather Be, Sing, and Happy Now. I think you would like any and all of them.

    It's like they said at the end, we're all human. 🤷‍♀️ I find that all of their songs are uplifting and hopeful, maybe without them even trying.

  • @kindracriado5984
    @kindracriado5984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I felt the same way and avoided Bohemian Rhapsody because I couldn’t fathom how it could be done without straying too far from the original.
    They don’t fail (in my opinion) so it seemed too big of a challenge with only 5 of them. Heck it’s too big a challenge for ANY group of a cappella singers, no matter how many they have.
    I finally watched it like a year later lol (I was nervous!) They killed it and surpassed my expectations AGAIN. Now I just “worry” if I can handle how they manage to exceed the already high expectations 🤣❤️

    If you’re interested in new PTX, I highly recommend “Sing!” It is a high energy, awesome song! Scott has that raspy, rock sound to his voice in it too, that I just love. It features clips from fans, TH-camrs, and celebs who are fans and is one of my favorite songs and videos of theirs…I play it to get pumped up in the morning 💛xo

    Many refer to this Live as one part sung in such a harmony as the wall of sound and I totally agree. It just hits you so hard and is so powerful. I love the message PTX incorporated with the cards - it strenghtens even more the beautiful message of John Lennon. I've already send this suggestion, but please check out the Disney Love Medley by Voctave, Kirstin Maldonado from PTX and Jeremy Michael Lewis. It's breathtaking 🙂

    This song always brings me to tears and this time was no exception. As I'm sure you've been told, the placards each held was their own identities, including the things they had in common with the one they handed it to. Very moving and very powerful.

    Hello, hello. So glad to see you are still doing PTX reactions. I knew that you would like this one. This is a classic piece and A Capella at its best. Pentatonix paid tribute to the original, respected the message and then made it their own bringing the message of John Lennon from 1971 right into the issues of the 21st Century. PTX are always intentional in their choice of song, arrangement and videography. The passing of the cards is genius. That layering and stacking of voices, rising to the crescendo and holding the harmonies in that PTX Wall of Sound is brilliant and gives me goose bumps every time. Glad to see you got the goose bumps too. Pentatonix have used their platform well to share this message of love, peace, tolerance and inclusivity and the reminder that we all have so much in common and we are all human.

  • @maryjanemckittrick4162

    This is such a powerful performance on so many levels. The vocals are exquisite as usual and the message they send with the cards is so important. I have to respectfully take issue with you that Mitch kicked it up. That was actually Kirstin who kicked it into the crescendo. I think sometimes you may overlook her contributions as you focus so much on Mitch. Scott was brilliant in this, too. Thank you for doing these reactions!

    • @heidi_d
      @heidi_d 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don’t think he’s overlooking anything. To be fair, it’s really hard to tell who is singing during that harmony/dissonance. Kirstie is a beast!

    Ye of little faith......
    Imagine by Pentatonix may be one of the most important videos of this century. This group took a classic song of tolerance and peace and modernized it as only they can. They are a perfect example of what respect and love can be like. Five people with differences in race, religion, gender, and sexuality can do beautiful things when they work together. I cried when I heard this the first time. I still usually tear up when they go into Wall of Sound mode. Unfortunately showing this to Pentaholics is kind of like preaching to the choir with most of us.

    Love your reactions as always and seeing your face when someone knocks it out of the park. Keep up the great work! I love PTX and love your country reactions. Still wish you would do a reaction to Steve Wariner. He hit his peak in the 80s and early 90s. “Some Fools Never Learn” is my favorite by him.

    Thanks for your reaction to this beautiful song. Any reaction to any Pentatonix song would be wonderful! I enjoy your reactions and hope that some day you will do a Voice Play reaction. Voice Play is an amazing acapella group from Orlando Florida (members have background working for Universal Studios and/or Disney) with a very theatrical approach to acapella music. Their "Little Mermaid Medley" would be a good first reaction.

    Can I make a request for a song? Have you heard of the Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø? She is the national treasure of Norway and has a unbelievable voice. Her voice can also be heard in background music of the 1997 Titanic movie. Could you react to her performing "Summertime"? ( th-cam.com/video/10IVmfjoNaM/w-d-xo.html )

    Really? No Heaven, no hell, no religion, no government, no countries, no possessions. Just utopianism. Lennon himself described IMAGINE as "virtually the communists manifeato"

  • @firefighterchick

    They did a good job but it didn't come close to John Lennon singing it. To be fair I don't think it's possible for anyone to do it better.

  • @timothypeterson4781
    @timothypeterson4781 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never found Imagine to be a very good song. It's such a childish understanding of humanity. You could call it hopeful, etc. etc. I'd call it pure childishness. (Not to mention the song coming from a man who beat his son makes it even more ironic.)
    Nice performance though.
