Your visceral reaction at the very end got me. It's such a gut-punch that things like that even need to be said. But if enough people like them, and you, and John Lennon, can come together, we can make the dream more of a reality.
Imagine by Pentatonix may be one of the most important videos of this century. This group took a classic, timeless song of tolerance and peace and modernized it as only they can. They are a perfect example of what respect and love can be like. Five people with differences in race, religion, gender, and sexuality can do beautiful things when they work together. I cried when I saw and heard this the first time. I still usually tear up when they go into Wall of Sound mode.
In today's world with wars going on children dying horrible deaths, I can't imagine a world of Peace, but there is always Hope. Thank you for sharing this special Song in today's world
Lennon was so wise with these lyrics. It's a timeless message that touches us fundamentally. People in power using these labels to divide us - absolutely. Divide and conquer.
Live and let live, love and let love. Not all reactors get the message from this video, but it is such an important message. We are all different in some ways, all the same in some ways, but we are all human.
Hello Saeed, so glad that you did this one. This is such a beautiful call for peace from John Lennon over 50 years ago, and it is even more relevant today. The cards held up shows a particular characteristic of the person holding the card, and when they pass the card, it shows what they have in common with the person they pass it to, demonstrating that we share so many things in common even if we are different - and then in the end - we are all human. The Pentatonix arrangement, vocals, solos, layering and harmonies are just beautiful and help to carry the message. Thanks for the reaction.
The way they sing this song and use the cards as visuals is just priceless. They go to show that it shouldn't matter who or what you are, that if we all try we can all get along!!!!! Great reaction!
This is hitting especially hard at the moment. There are those who seek to divide us in ways we haven't been for decades. It's incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking.
“The world is like a seesaw out of balance: on one side is a box of big rocks, tilting it its way. On the other side is a box, and a bunch of us with teaspoons, adding a little sand at a time. One day, all of our teaspoons will add up, and the whole thing will tip, and people will say, 'How did it happen so fast?” ― Pete Seeger
Pentatonix is always a living, breathing example of this message: a group of very diverse individuals who make beautiful music together, in harmony. Bless you, Saeed. I know exactly what you mean about growing up as a minority (like Avi, I'm Jewish).
Watch again and pay attention to the cards for an even deeper insight. Each card they hold up describes the person holding the card. Each card they pass to the next person describes both of them. So each person is unique, and yet each person shares traits with the person standing next to them. As we all do. Each one special, each one alike: human.
You had many wise and perceptive things to say in this reaction. This beautiful arrangement that PTX does of this song never fails to bring chills no matter how many times I listen. You are so right; the key is to love your neighbor (the neighbor who is next door and the neighbor anywhere else who is a human being). Love how PTX is showing how it’s done. For a pick me up song try Sing, Rather Be, Come Along, and 90’s Dance Medley (sorry for not checking if these are on a playlist). 💜
This Is one of their most beautiful songs both in harmony and message. I am happy it moved you. ( their original Sing or their cover Can’t Hold Us are fun songs)
Thank you for this and your reaction. So spot on to say they actually held a mirror in front of everyone listening. The versatility and sincereness of this group is astounding. South Africa is not the kindest place to live in. But this message starts with one self. A kind word, greeting a stranger first, give compliments to total strangers and reach out to those in need - even if it is only a sandwich where strangers approach you because they are hungry- these can make a huge difference. Greetings from South Africa
You never know what impact you can have on a person's life just by saying a kind word or just asking how they are doing and really listening. I wish you a great weekend and want to thank you for being here. I appreciate you!
Such a beautiful, heartfelt reaction. Thank you for sharing with us. I've always thought this was the most important performance PTX has ever done. Take care of yourself.
When you mentioned "pick me up", my mind immediately popped up the PTX Perfume medley, which has those exact words in the first eight seconds. It is lots of fun, and definitely a pick me up, even though it is half-Japanese (Perfume is a J-Pop band) and very short. Kirstin looks amazing, Mitch is totally bald, Kevin's visor from "Daft Punk" comes back, and Avi's samurai hairstyle and red eyeshadow is a look. You might add it to your list.
It is a punch to the gut and I saw it all through your reaction, especially at the end. I have been blessed to have lived on this earth now for quite some time. I am older now, still young 😂, but just with everything I have seen in my lifetime, the destruction and devastation, all because this simple concept seems like such a difficult thing to accomplish? You are correct, there are those out there that use our differences to divide us, for their own purposes. I made a conscious choice a long time ago that I would not live my life that way. I do not judge, it was the first thing I recognized and removed. And believe me, in the South, I live in Oklahoma, I was the strange person in a crowd of many clueless people with very bad ideas. I believe it is possible but I also think that many will need to make a conscious decision in their life and decide how they want to be and how they choose to treat people. I might be one small person in this world but groups of small people multiplied over and over, it can make a difference. We won’t be popular but when you are on the side of right and good, that doesn’t matter. Thank you for your reaction. T ✌🏻
Thank you so much for sharing this. I do believe it's possible and i want to contribute to spreading love, respect and positivity. Have a wonderful day.
The best reaction I’ve seen to this video. So genuine so sincere. Sad that everyone doesn’t respect people for who they are. The diversity among this group yet they all love one and other. If only everyone could be the same. Man kind is cruel, all the wars going on in the world is horrific. You are a very decent human being your reaction showed that. Thank you.
A timeless message. Unfortunately, it will still be relevant 100 yrs from now because unity is not the goal of people in power. Division is what keeps them in control. Great reaction. Cheers!
Okay, I just read my comment after posting and realized that sounded defeatist. Let me say I am always hopeful that things can change, but I certainly gave up my rose colored glasses long ago!
I understand, its not easy to stay positive in a world that seems on the brink of collapse sometimes. I just try to even if it's only for the people closest to me. I hope the positivity will somehow catch on and spread.
I subscribed because of this beautiful reaction to this beautiful song. To me, the message of this song is that in spite of all our differences, we are truly one in the same. We have to love each other before our world can find peace and harmony. Thanks again for reacting to this performance.
I've probably seen this video 1000 times and I cry every time. and you're spot on with, how do we start? we start with loving thy neighbor... keep the faith, my friend, and carry on! :)
I love your reactions; you're a genuinely caring human being. To your dad's village: I spent 9 years in Ghana, from 2007-2016. Although I lived primarily in and around the capital of Accra, my most favored and most sublime memories are of the many, many, many times I sojourned in this village or that, maybe for a few days, but sometimes for months on end, villages where electricity, running water, indoor plumbing, were not only wholly absent, they were not even considered. Life is certainly more tough in the village, but people are ever so much more attuned to "life" in that environment. I met many an elder, those septua- and octogenarians who, though unelected, decided the consequences of this action or that, who, in groups, regardless of age or rank, were always greeted right to left - the right side being determined by wherever the newcomer entered the mix. My forever question was, why was (in 2007) Ghana's male life expectancy only 57 or so years when I kept meeting these ancients? It took me a while to put together the existence of these oldsters and the knowledge of infant mortality (primarily due to malaria, but to a whole host of other causes, too). If one has the good luck to live to adulthood in these poorer countries, one has a fairly decent chance of reaching old age. The trick is not to die when you're still a kid. Some of us are idealists, some of us are imbued with a healthy sense of realism, and some of us are realistic idealists, meaning, like me, someone who is all to well aware of the vagueries and vicissitudes of life but who nevertheless strives for that idealistic dream. If we ever give up, the pigs will control the farm, we will enter a Kafkaesque maze of endless threatening inanities, and our big brother will tell us with a straight face that what he said yesterday was never heard by us. Never give up the dream, Saeed. You are truly one of the rarest of beasts, a caring individual.
New to your channel. This is my favorite of theirs. There are lots of other songs of theirs I love but this video...I wish we could all just be human and love each other as we are. It's such a simple thing. Thanks for sharing your real reaction. May we one day get to the point where we can all just live as one. ❤
Great reaction to a great remake of a great song! We do need to live as one. Just wanted to add , if you want to feel really good to one of their originals, check out Sing. And when they say cut at the end don't stop. Keep it going.
You are right, it is people in power that create and keep conflicts going to maintain power.🙏🏾❤️ listen to Avi’s song “Try to get It Right”. I adopted it as my soul song.
@@SaeedReacts. I have been enjoying Avi’s solo music since 2022. It helped me get through some dark times that year and is still comforting to my spirit. It is something about his voice that penetrates your soul. His songs are relatable to anyone.
We like to say that Pentatonix doesn't do covers, they do upgrades, and for the most part it's true. But how do you upgrade a song that's already perfect? Well, if you're Pentatonix you look for a way to make that song more itself. In the case of "Imagine" Pentatonix treats the song and the song's writer with the utmost respect, and engages in a dialogue. John Lennon saw that things like religion and nationality divide us, so he suggested that we get rid of those things. But Pentatonix sees that it isn't possible to get rid of religions and nations, so they propose another solution. You see, the real problem is something much deeper than religion, or nationality, or even money. The real problem is the human tendency to reject people who are different. So Pentatonix looks for ways around that problem, and then they show us how a healthy community deals with differences. First Pentatonix looks for and finds the things they share with each other, the ways they're alike. And in the process they also find the things that make them individuals. And because they've already found the things that draw them together they can not only accept their differences but celebrate them. Doing that, looking at differences clearly and with love, gives them greater insight. It makes them a stronger, wiser, more compassionate community, and they all benefit from their diversity. Instead of dividing them diversity draws them together, until they can look at everyone and see the one thing that we all share - we're all human. And this means that when they meet someone who is very different indeed, in ways that otherwise might seem bizarre or dangerous, they can still see that fundamental truth, that we're all human, and we're all in this together. Unlike everyone in Pentatonix, I'm old enough to have heard John sing "Imagine" live. And that means I'm old enough to have the evening news from December 8th, 1980 seared on my memory: John Lennon, dead. Killed by an assassin who ambushed him when he was coming home after an evening out with his wife, Yoko. For those of us who remember that night, the grief and shock remain as strong now as they were 43 years ago. John had only 40 years on this planet. We have no way to know what else he would have given us if he'd been able to live out his full life; all we know is what he DID give us, his perfect anthem, "Imagine." I wish he'd been able to see this video. It would have made him so proud.
Hallo Saeed. Al veel goede artiesten hier op je kanaal. Mogelijks weet je al dat PTX ook de muziekscene van Kerst overheerst in the States. Niet dat het nu qua timing ok zit maar ze maakten over hun lp ‘Evergreen’. Een documentaire ‘the making of Evergreen’. Hier zie je hoe deze Grammy winnende groep in de studio samenwerken om ‘on the fly’ in een paar weken tijd een kerst lp te maken. Vooral de wijze hoe op een spontane wijze sommige arrangementen ontstaan is intrigerend. Naast hun life werk is dit zeer indrukwekkend.
Geweldig. Vele groetjes.
I agree with all of what you said but one statement you made in particular seems to be an absolute truth. "The people in charge want to divide us." They continue to stoke the fire of anger or keep us angry for whatever reason. Sheesh! I'm so over all of them!
It is such a beautiful song. I love your reactions. Please react to "Joyful Joyful" Live from the evergreen experience. It is my favorite live video from them.
I see how this affected you Saeed. Just know that there are a very large number of people who want us to live in harmony. I would love to call you a friend of mine!!!
It gives me hope to know that there are many people who just want to live their lives and make their dreams come true and just spend time with their loved ones. And focus on the things that matter. Take care, my friend.
Hi, I was touched by your reaction to Imagine. Well, the world is full of dreamers, and yet people still fight and kill each other for what? In the name of the truths proclaimed by leaders, by dictators. The ancient Romans already said "divide and rule". Because if people are divided, it is easy to rule them and impose your point of view on them. Sad but true. Still, it's good to dream. Greetings from Poland
Hes talking about no heaven (no God), no countries (open borders) no religion (no God) no possesions..If you read about this song Lennon himself says this song could be a communist manifesto. I hate this song.
Your visceral reaction at the very end got me. It's such a gut-punch that things like that even need to be said. But if enough people like them, and you, and John Lennon, can come together, we can make the dream more of a reality.
I definitely believe it is possible and it starts with us. We can not give up hope ❤️. Have a wonderful day.
I just adore them ❤
Sound of silence by them is also incredible 😊
It was beautiful to see how this song and the message moved you. Same! Check out their original song "Sing" - that will pick you right up!
Powerful! Will check out Sing!
This version brings tears to my eyes every time! The power of music!
Very powerful.
PTX is the embodiment of the power of unity thru diversity. Look At who they are and yet they love each other

Amazing song and message.
I find that all songs with a message end up being old songs and stand the test of time. They become musical reminders that we can do better.
Great point!

Makes me cry EVERY time I hear this 😢
Truly powerful.
I agree, it is a timeless song. Sadly, we need to hear this message as much today (or more) as we did back in Lennon's day. Great reaction.
I agree, today more relevant than ever. Have a wonderful day.
the fact that the last line ISN’T harmony, but the SAME note, pulls the entire song/video together in a very strong way
Thanks for letting me know about that.
What a beautiful reaction.
Thank you ❤️

Loving your personality - and your PTX reactions! Like others mentioned, their original “Sing” is a great pick-me-up.
Thanks so much! Will definitely get to that one as well. Have a great day!

Thank you. It's a powerful rendition of an already powerful song.

Simply amazing. Powerful message. Have a wonderful day.
Saeed, spot on. Most of us long for peace, and we live and let live. This song is both hopeful and despairing.
It really is a song of both hope and despair. I do want to be more on the hope side of things.

Wow, thanks for sharing this. ❤️
Now you understand why this would be recommended by so many.
For sure! Very powerful.
Hallo Saeed. Al veel goede artiesten hier op je kanaal. Mogelijks weet je al dat PTX ook de muziekscene van Kerst overheerst in the States. Niet dat het nu qua timing ok zit maar ze maakten over hun lp ‘Evergreen’. Een documentaire ‘the making of Evergreen’. Hier zie je hoe deze Grammy winnende groep in de studio samenwerken om ‘on the fly’ in een paar weken tijd een kerst lp te maken. Vooral de wijze hoe op een spontane wijze sommige arrangementen ontstaan is intrigerend. Naast hun life werk is dit zeer indrukwekkend.
Geweldig. Vele groetjes.
Thank you
Thank you for watching ❤️
I agree with all of what you said but one statement you made in particular seems to be an absolute truth. "The people in charge want to divide us." They continue to stoke the fire of anger or keep us angry for whatever reason. Sheesh! I'm so over all of them!
There is this sense that many people have had enough. I hope there is a change coming.
It is such a beautiful song. I love your reactions. Please react to "Joyful Joyful" Live from the evergreen experience. It is my favorite live video from them.
Truly beautiful. Will your recommendation to my list. Thanks!

Definitely gets harder to be positive sometimes, but like you said we can hope and dream. Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day.

Recommend Todrick Hall’s Wizard Of Ahhs featuring Pentatonix.
That one is on my list!

Hi Eric,
I will add your recommendation to my list. Thanks! Have a great day.
Hes talking about no heaven (no God), no countries (open borders) no religion (no God) no possesions..If you read about this song Lennon himself says this song could be a communist manifesto. I hate this song.
And i will keep my own interpretation with more hope
