We rented one of these last Saturday and drove it roundtrip for 326miles (524km). This is the most amazing piece of machinery I've ever encountered. We cruised at 140km/hr and it feels like 40km/hr. What a vehicle! Nice review too. LOL
What is the ride quality on the adventure model compared to the SE and XLE models? Is the suspension harder or softer? Also, is maintenance cost on the adventure model any different than other models?
The 2016-2018 rav4 were well built ones! Drove 2016 rav4 xle to ocean shores, wa and it was comfy ride from and back. Not to mention it isn't too small nor cumbersome
To look at it another way - I suspect it wouldn't occur to the majority of drivers to try to change the wheel if they got a puncture anyway - they'd just call the AA so why should they be forced to pay for a feature they're never going to use? Whilst many options are stupidly expensive, £75 isn't bad value for a jack, a wheel and a wrench really, when you think about it. Personally I'm in favour of having as few things as possible provided as standard equipment as long as they are reasonably priced as options. @@adventureandtravelchannel2450
I like the RAV4 overall.. Love the simple, more traditional dashboard and the nice quiet ride. Couple of things that I didn't like.. 1) the blacked out wheels .. never did like that on any vehicle. 2). Another complaint is how low the vehicle sits. Seems like with every new model the SUVs (and minivans) top of vehicle is lower to the ground.. I like a SUV or Minivan to sit up higher for a good commanding view (and plenty of head room). The RAV4 is now (unfortunately) more like a hatchback than a SUV.
I agree I was hoping they would design with bigger wheels, my 2009 is 7.5" of the ground I would like to see it higher yet they are designing the opposite.
Your towing information mentions V6. I don't think Rav4 has a V6 option anymore? I have a 2007 V6 Limited and its towing is 4K. Wish Toyota would bring back the V6. Thanks for the review - good job of explaining things.
Just found go to auto biscuit.com about the RAV4 steering problems for the 2017. They say stay away from the 2017 better off with the 2018, 2016. The 2020 has coolant leakage for all the models.
Very good tour and very good car. For me, the RAV4 has two drawbacks: the cargo area is finished in bare plastic, which gives it a cheap feel, and the rear seats are way too close to the floor for comfort, even though the rake of the back is adjustable.
Thank you for the honest feedback! I think the Rav4 will see upgrades in the interior appointments as the crossover continues to grow and people demand more in the way of luxury AND value. Thanks again for contributing to the conversation, my friend! Brock
Great review. Just made an offer on an 18' adventure. Got a jk wrangler for getting in the woods but at 14mpg I needed a work and errand runner. Plus alot of my camping trips don't require extreme 4-wheeing but are still in the boonies so I think this is a good fit for me.
Great video. I'd be interested in learning more about the thought that went into the design of this car. More specifically - I live in the Northeast and wonder how snow or ice buildup would effect the lock feature on the door handle. I also live on a dirt road and my car is always covered in dust. In the past I've had vehicles with sensors that would malfunction because they were dirty.
You're absolutely crazy if you wait 10,000 miles to change the oil. I don't care if it's synthetic. And you better check it every couple thousand miles or you're going to be in for a big shock if it burns oil.
I just bought a 2018 AWD XLE....so far so good....have to get the front drivers seat filled with some padding in the middle....the bolsters give me great problems on my right back....l$200 should fix it right.
LOL, just like the ther guy, last week here in the San Francisco Bay Area I too bought a 2018 Certified RAV4 XLE AWD. I don't mind sharing the details so people can see what these cars are selling for. Certified means that I get a Toyota FACTORY warranty, that's BETTER than the factory warranty on a new RAV4. I get 12,000 miles, 12 months (whichever comes first) bumper to bumper coverage. But the biggy is I have a 7 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty! The RAV4 had 42,000 miles on the odometer, so by that time all the kinks and little things have been taken care of, but having a year to get any remaining issues handled is comforting. And having a seven year powertrain warranty, heck it doesn't get any better than that. And that's real added value to my RAV4 because the warranty is transferable should I sell it. Because used RAV4s are hard to find nowadays, the dealer wouldn't negotiate off the advertised price which was LESS than what private parties wanted for their 2018 FWD XLE cars (of which there where only two in about a 100 mile geographic area. I got mine for $19,590 which is a good price for a 2018 Certified RAV4. To be clear, the warranty is from Toyota. It is NOT that garbage scammy service contracts dealerships try to unload on unsuspecting buyers. Here's what I'm talking about on my warranty: www.toyotacertified.com/
Is this the base model? Because it sure seems like it. Max out everything and you can get leather seats and the smart door handles on every door of the car. Everything else is same as 2017. You can also get electric seats and add one more inch to the touch screen display at the cost of the CD input at the top
9.5 litres/100kms. I have the XLE version. My current weekly cost for gas is about $50 CDN, which is around $10 a week more than my 2009 1.8L Matrix. Heavier and higher vehicle with 2.5L engine and AWD are why.
Hello I have a question which car fuel efficiency toyota rava or honda crv I am looking for a suv that dosent burn to much gas and that good on a road trip
I have an 09 and had an 06. The 09 is the v6 and the 06 was a 4 cyl which had no balls at all. The sound systems in both were junk and went bad in hot or cold weather and they were both replaced but they lasted a couple of months. The cars were the Limited top of the line models but the ride was terrible and I needed Tylenol after every ride on a less than perfect road. I don't know why people think they can off road with any of these cross overs or even straight suv's, if you want to off road get a properly spec' truck. They have been tremendous as far as reliability if maintained but they lack some basic's that people don't bitch about. The switches don't light up at night and if not memorized you can't tell where anything is, really stupid and annoying for over 30 grand. They did have a huge problem with people hitting the gas and brake at the same time and no matter how they try to explain it it was simple human engineering and they were situated too close together because there was no room in the drivers cockpit. That's all it was no matter how many recal fixes they did to the throttle they couldn't widen the cockpit so they made up a bunch of bullshit to try and save their asses on lawsuits. It was also very basic compared to other cars of the same price range. This one looks horrible to me, hate the black wheels but can't go on. No more for me.
I tell you something I have a RAV4 and the electronic steering on the highway is too abrupt. I always have to duck my head to get in and out of the driver’s seat because of the angle of the front pillars. It also impairs vision when looking out either side of the vehicle. And last buy not least, because of the wedge shaped side glass from front to back it makes a problem for reverse park. It gives the impression that you have parked straight and in fact the car is on an angle to the curb. I also owned the previous model RAV4 and never had any of these problems. I am sorry I upgraded!!
Hi Mohamed! Thanks for the feedback on the video and the nice compliment on the socks!!! I appreciate your support and I hope you have a wonderful day, my friend!!! Brock
A bit of a fib on the "performance" I think... it should have the 2.0L Turbo 8AR-FTS motor from the RX200t as an option, then I would say yes... finally, a performing RAV4 again!! Since they killed the 2GRFE V6 option in 2013.
I have the 2015 Limited edition which is supposed to be a high end. While it drives nicely and all, I still find it pretty un-refined. The GPS is useless, things are clunky and loud (turn signals etc), entune sound system is a dud. I findthat base Camry's are more refined these days.

If all the adventure Rav4's have the silver color seats, that's not good. The word adventure means you are going on adventures and will probably get dirty......Dirt and light colored seats, door panels and dashboard are not a good mixture. I will take my Rav4 XLE with the solid black interior over this combo all day long. I also like my key start instead of the push button start. I hade push button start on my 2014 Honda Accord and it's just something else that can eventually cause issues. I like to keep things simple if at all possible. I do like the carbon fiber look around the cup holder & shift knob. If the adventure is several hundred dollars more than the regular XLE I would be surprised. I would stick with the regular XLE.
Too much cancer everywhere. And when you talk to them ppl who have that automated voice cuz they've been destroyed by cigarettes, its kinda annoying. Yeah, ok, sympathy, but i aint got time for cancer.
@1:50 i see there is a v6 option once again on the rav 4? am at 6:57 and it's a 4 cyl, i assume it's a mistake. got my hopes up a little there so to speak. carry on ..
I absolutely hate this generation of Rav! Hope the pictures I've seen on the Internet are accurate for the next generation...Something more aggressive in appearance, with a proper off-road package to compete with the Cherokee.
Toyota specs for the tow capacity are kind of vague but from what I have been able to find the AWD version can tow 3500 lbs. while the FWD is rated for 2900 lbs. Wish the tow package (larger radiator plus auxilliary engine oil and transmission fluid coolers) was available as an option on the other RAV4 models.
I have a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure all wheel drive and it's the best vehicle I've ever had!!! It drives great!!
How's it doing? We just bought ours a few days ago with 34k miles and my wife loves it.

Nice car. Mine is a 2018 RAV4 XLE and AWD. I didn’t see much difference between this one and mine. Love it
Outstanding job! Love that you do this for us all. Little tricks gained each time I watch these.
Well done ! ...the best presentation I have seen-- knowledgeable ---talks slow-- easy to understand --Thumbs UP !
Thank u this is one of the best videos for the Rav4 I have seen. Ur video is good for ppl that dont have one.
It's like being there without needing to be. Very good informative video's
There is no V6 in the rav4 anymore and the tow capacity is 3500lbs.
Love the humor! I really hope to see this channel grow. Its fresh compared to other car channels.

Great review on the RAV4 man!
Which one is more fun to drive and comfort ride. ? Rav 4 or C.H.R
2017 Rav4 my choice because of the 6 speed trans trouble free. 2018 and newer (8) speed trans a lot of complaints stay away!
Just found go to auto biscuit.com about the RAV4 steering problems for the 2017.
They say stay away from the 2017 better off with the 2018, 2016. The 2020 has coolant leakage for all the models.
2018 is one of the best model years. The 2019 has a lot of issues.

You would have to step up to the Highlander to get a V6 and they want a premium price for the Highlanders.

Cherokee barely reliable anyway, I prefer this
Tow capacity is 3,500 with 4 cylinder because it’s the only Rav4 available with a tow prep package.
Steve/Beth boyce it has tow prep package, specs show 3,500
Toyota specs for the tow capacity are kind of vague but from what I have been able to find the AWD version can tow 3500 lbs. while the FWD is rated for 2900 lbs. Wish the tow package (larger radiator plus auxilliary engine oil and transmission fluid coolers) was available as an option on the other RAV4 models.
